  1. Esci never issued a 1/72 F-5E, only the A and B. They did a 1/48 E though.

There have only been 3 kits of the E in 1/72 scale:

    - Airfix, also reboxed by Heller and MPC. Not bad, raised panel lines, soft detail, decent shape

    - Italeri, also reboxed by Revell. Very good kit but with raised panel lines.

Actually there have been two moulds: Originally the kit represented the then current standard of this aircraft. Later the mould was modified to add the shark nose and extended lerx of the more recent F-5Es.

    - Hobbyboss, also appeared under the mini hobby label. This is a modified clone of the italeri kit with a different parts layout and soft recessed panel lines. Detail is quite soft and the windscreen is not accurate (too short). Represents the original F-5E configuration.

From the above it's clear that the best kit is the italeri one. In any case, there would be room for a more modern kit of this very important type

Now that's all information together I was looking for - thank you.

Made a bid yesterday on an online auction for the Italeri F-5E but got out bidden - anyway I am sure I will get it one day.

    Cheers,

    Michael

  2. The Italeri kit is available and can be found pretty cheaply. Better than the Airfix kit.Current boxing is Patrouille Suisse.

ESCI if you can still find one.

The Trumpeter/Hobby Boss offering is an engraved Italeri.

ESCI kits are like trying to find rocking horse :poo-poo:

Too bad Italeri never re-boxed the ESCI F-5E. They did the F-5A and F-5B, but not the E. Wonder why.

    Cheers,

    Bill

I'm not sure that Esci ever realised an F-5E, however (like always I may be wrong).

From my reckoning there are not that many pure F-5E kits in 1/72 that ever hit the market.

In 'pure' form we have kits from Italeri, Airfix and the latest from Hobbyboss.

All other kits from other manufactures are based on these original moulds.

I agree the Esci kits are the best, however these were based on the earlier F-5A airframe.

This web page might help - ="1:72"&fkSECTION[]=Kits]https://www.scalemates.com/search-solr.php?q=Northrop+F-5+Freedom+Fighter+F-5e*&fkSCALE[]="1:72"&fkSECTION[]=Kits

Sorry - having neither of the above F-5E kits I cannot give you an answer, however if it's an 'A' your after - then Esci hands down.

    Cheers.. Dave

    Thank you all guys.

As you say - getting the ESCO kit might be challenging. Guess I go for the Italeri kit - I want to build the Swiss Airforce version anyway.

    Cheers,

    Michael

  3. Dean, thank you so much for your reply. I saw it too late to bid on that one but found another offering at a similar price. Hope nobody else is gone bid higher. Thanks again. Cheers, Michael

  4. Hi guys,

I know there is a separate forum for trading but I am still below 100 posts and therefore cannot post there.

I am desperately looking for the 1/72 Revell Hawker Hunter FGA9 / Mk.58 kit.

Does anybody has one for sale? Please contact me at michael(dot)kuenzle(at)hotmail(dot)com

Prepayment via PayPal of course - no fraudster here just a guy who wants to build a Swiss Hunter.

    Cheers,

    Michael

  5. This Mirage III is a very good new.

I've quite finished a 1/48 decal sheet for Mirage III/S. Don't know how many people would be interested, if any of you would be, please let me know (publicly or privately) so I can know how many I may print (screen printing, probably at Cartograf, or maybe Kinetic is interested in partnership, I just contacted them).

RS decal sheet version will follow once the S version has been released.

Later I will release photoetched for S and RS cockpits and some specific changes for swiss mirages. Pictures only show canards (like kfir) but they are many other changes for swiss versions.

Let me know if you are interested.

    Hi Gabriel,

I am definitely in for any Swiss variant products to make the Kinetic Mirage a Swiss version.

By the way - I am Michael Künzle - you should know me from several orders I already placed at your webshop.

    Cheers,

    Michael

  6. A nice little model, good work. You say its your first 1/72, what scale do you usually model in? I like 1/72 simply as storage would be a problem for bigger kits. although the detail of bigger kits is much more appealing.

    Hi there,

It's my fourth model in total - the other three are in 1/48. Yeap, storage is getting an issue with too many 1/48 kits. I guess I will continue building in both scales - space has to be found ;-).

    Cheers,

    Michael

  7. Hi guys,

This is my first 1/72 model - the Airfix DHC Chipmunk.

It's far away from being perfect (canopy section mainly) but it was fun. The markings are fictional - I wanted to do an RCAF trainer version but didn't have the right decals. So I painted it yellow but used the kit decals.

So, enough bla bla - here the pics.

I hope you like it. It's definitely not gone be my last 1/72.

Thank's a lot to William de Coster from Belgium for having sent my a replacement canopy since I messed up the first one even more...

    Cheers,
    Michael

  8. Hi guys,

I am still a newbie (working on my fourth kit now) and would love to build the 1/72 Airfix Tiger Moth. What still hinders me is the rigging.

Is there anywhere a good description about how to get rigging done right - so that even a newbie like me will understand it?

Thanks for providing any information that might help.

    Cheers,

    Michael
