  1. Terrific build, very well done! Nothing wrong with using the materials you have got either, some aim to capture historical replicas while others see the hobby as a form of art. The most important thing is to enjoy it Might have a crack at an F14 myself
  2. Lovely finish and build! Would look great with a couple of figures, instructor and cadet perhaps?
  3. An interesting subject and really good build! I might have a crack at one, been mainly aircraft and cars on my workbench.
  4. Absolutely fabulous build and kit that, congratulations! I remember seeing a Galaxy at an Airshow (RAF Mildenhall in the 90's) and being amazed at the size of it, even compared to a Starlifter and Globemaster. Any tips on how you stayed motivated on such a big project?
  5. You've done a terrific job there mate, very tidy build and a great finish! The panel line pre-shading looks just right and it's a really interesting scheme RSAF subject, thanks for posting. Have you thought about building a RSAF BAC Lightning yet? That would be another great model to have.
  6. Thank you for that advice, I'll have a good read through Antti's stuff too. I'll be approaching the decals with trepidation as it's not my strongest skill, but that's what modelling is all about eh - enjoying it and improving. Cheers!
  7. Splendid job resulting in a unique model and great scheme! Great work mate.
  8. A terrific model, what a plane! I've actually just bought this kit myself and look forward to getting stuck in. Any problem areas encountered?
  9. A work of art that mate, lovely craftmanship, what an aircraft too! What scale is it, 32nd?
  10. Terrific job and a fantastic aircraft! I think the weathering is particularly good.
  11. You've built an absolute beauty there mate. Finish looks great, you can tell the coats of paint were thin, which makes all the difference. The dust must have been frustrating but something to plan for next time around. Great aircraft too, what scale is it, 72nd?
  12. Interesting pictures, thanks for sharing mate. Great job on the build and finish of the Harrier too, always been one of my favourites that variant and scheme! Cheers, Jon
  13. Absolutely terrific finish, kits look impressive too!
  14. I like to read a book about the subject I am building also, sometimes for reference material but mostly for the atmosphere of the story and the role it played. Some of the old Arrow, such as that one, and Pan Books war stories are great!
  15. I think that is a cracking effort as a re-entry into the hobby mate. You could always study and try out some weathering techniques at a later date if you wanted but could equally leave it modelled as just delivered from the factory. All down to personal taste at the end of the day. Some will see the hobby as being about accurate replica modelling, others a form of 3D art. What's important is that you enjoy it. Look forward to seeing what you model next! Cheers, John
  16. I think you have done a terrific job Ian and the diorama really sets it off! Weathering looks realistic to me, including the rusting barb wire. You might have inspired me to give a tank a crack, I've only built aircraft until now. Cheers, John
  17. I think the evidence is clear some of the enthusiasm and mojo is coming back mate. Fantastic paint job by the way! Enjoying this build, good stuff. Cheers, John
  18. Some absolute beauties in there, thank you for posting. The B-36 Peacemaker is still astounding to look at today!
  19. What an incredible build, well done that man!!
  20. Thanks Ian, makes a lot of sense, I'll give it a go. Was thinking of using a scalpel to remove the seam line but there is a big danger of damaging the tyre doing that in retrospect.
  21. Cracking model, just bought a couple of 80s F1 kits to have a go at myself. How did you go about removing the central moulding seam on the tyres please?
  22. Lovely finish, i'm new to car building, what did you use polish/varnish wise?
  23. Excellent work mate, I love it when people do this kind of thing and restore old cars/planes. Perhaps there should be a separate forum section for restorations!
