  1. That they are doing so is undeniable, but is it not the case that the likeness of the F14 belongs to Grumman? Did Tamiya pay them any royalties on their recent 1/48 release? That's a genuine question by the way I'm not a lawyer of any sort but I would have thought that it was comparable. There's a million and one models of the king Tiger (half of Hannants warehouse must be made up of that wretched thing ) do the rights for its likeness not belong to Tyssenkrupp? Just saying that from my view it appears that most of the model industry is profiting from another's IP. Also it would appear to be a false alarm; a bumfight between DM and Daban in concert with Chinese New Year with the cherry on top being the usual FB poo-stirring from people with some odd agenda.
  2. A TT Hongli/GG Zaku II High Mobility type which I bought to be the sacrificial frame for the resin sniper dress-up kit (didn't want to pay full price for something when most of the kit will end up in the bits box) before realising that the HM has a diffent inner frame in the lower legs, not just different armour :/ Also got this little Haro ball kit, with LED eyes, for $20. It's about 1/3.5 scale or something.
  3. Kind of want the Tief Sturmer, but there's such a thing as too much detail. I think it looks naff.
  4. I've been meaning to pick up the TT Hongli/GG Kampher for a while now. I just think it looks a little too skinny and stretched. But I'd peobably like it better in person. How much did the bridge thing set you back? I had a couple of things come through from my favoured Amazon Seller today. An HGUC Zaku II FZ (from War in the Pocket, the best UC OVA and also the one in which the Kapher features) and two sets of Bandai decals, one for the MG Ball I bought recently and another for the 1/144 Unicorn which I don't actually have but will probably pick up at some time in the future.
  5. Welcome to the Blastvader pedantry hour; with your host, Blastvader! *crickets* The MSM designation puts that as an aquatic type Mobile Suit from the Gundam Universal Century timeline. Nowt to do with Macross/Robotech. It also appears to use an MG Dom (MS-09B) a ground type MS as the base, but is marked as a variant of the Gogg aquatic MS. Thanks, and that's all we've got time for today. See you next time for the Blastvader pedantry hour! *coughs, murmuring*
  6. The easiest way is just to go to the Macross Wiki and find the dimensions for the 'real' thing. Then do a simple bit of maths. For reference a VF-1 in Battroid mode will be about 13cm tall in 1/100 and 18cm tall in 1/72.
  7. Zaku 1 Sniper resin dress-up kit for the MG Zaku II 2.0 turned up today. Bought from a friend who's selling his collection off. Also bought one of these weird bases off of him (and a pre-built MG Ball ver Ka 08th MS Team version):
  8. PEDANT ALERT! PEDANT ALERT! The Zaku Cannon is a Zaku II variant, hence it being an MS-06 (as opposed to MS-05 for the Zaku I). PEDANT ALERT! PEDANT ALERT! Captain Pedant, AWAY! *whoosh*
  9. Those were two I considered, with the production line idea I wasn't sure as to whether to have the head mounted on an air-skid with two techs working on it, or a with a 'Rosie the Riveter' type character (which I'm sure there are models of but I've yet to find them) posed for a propaganda shot. I considered the transport idea too, possibly with the GM Ground Type arm from the Federation Ant-MS set as well (though I also had an idea to use that in a 'Blitz' type scene with a family standing outside their house with it having been crushed by 10 tonnes of MS appendage. Likely lack the skill to do any of it though. Sorry for the thread hijack @rockpopandchips
  10. 'Scale' is always a pretty hard thing to nail down when your subject matter doesn't exist. Just as an exercise though these heads work out at roughly 1/36 scale when compared to the HGUC Zaku II Production Type i.e. the prototypical Zaku II. So I'd say that's good enough.
  11. I think a lot of that comes down to which version (and by default which artist) is your definitive Zaku. For me it's the F2 from 0083 which has a comparative pin-head to the Zaku II from 0079.
  12. Looking good. I've got a couple myself. Like @Will Vale I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on the support (for one thing it's so far out from the fixed end that the bending moment would be hellish considering its mass) regardless it's a cool idea, and better than any I've had. Also, as pointed out aaaages ago they are 1/35 scale as they reuse parts of the mould from the Ramba Ral UCHG set which includes a 1/35 Zaku Head (with more detail internally but less panel lines). I've got two of these so I'm now sitting with 4 Zaku heads in 35th with no idea what to do with them.
  13. Personally, to get the really bright gold, I'd go for a gloss black base, Molotow chrome, clear yellow with a touch or orange for the gold and clear red with a touch of smoke for the red parts. Most gold I've tried have been a satin gold rather than a bright gold.
  14. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I count The Fifth Element as probably my favourite film (with the 13th Warrior in a close second).
  15. I know. Stretching the term 'Globally' a bit there. But those countries listed are a) the only places with country specific P-Bandai sites and the only place Bandai has a license to sell SW stuff (even if it is only the vehicles in the case of the USA).
  16. Found this earlier, though have not yet been able to verify it. Also, on pricing that's 43,000 Yen with JPN Sales Tax so that price would vary depending on which storefront you bought it from I would have thought (though not massively).
  17. He did the same with the PG Pheonix. I understand a business' need to make a profit (I spent the last three years selling materials handling equipment) but chucking a 70% mark-up on something (even if it is low-volume/high value) shows nothing but contempt for your, usually, well educated customer base who will be aware that you're trying to pull a fast one. Considering though that this is the same store that immediately put their prices on all stock (not just new deliveries) up significantly after last year's Brexit vote and the falling value of Sterling, I'm not really surprised. As it happens, the Bandai kit as a whole will be passing me by, I'll stick with my two AMT versions and the resin upgrades as, for all their foibles, I could still buy another four for the cost of importing a single Bandai kit and as such I cannot justify the cost.
  18. Especially if you want to get it from Chilly Nippon . He wants £750 for one. though how these people doing pre-orders expect to guarantee stock for anyone silly enough to pay their scalper prices I have no idea, it's fairly easy to enforce a one-per-customer rule through the use of registered addressees.
  19. Ah yes, Katoki's big brown butt-plug. It does balance out though doesn't it? Probably because of the fact that its legs are super model long... Still want one though, think it's a great looking thing.
  20. 1/100 Too bad there's no EVAs in that scale (that I know of) but they would be over 75cm tall...
  21. ...and limit it to Japan only and charge £200 for it Anyway, I gots these things: Koto's NERV VTOL CAC aircraft thing...which is tiny. HGUC Zaku II F2 number 3 as its my favourite version of the Zaku II And just for a laugh, a little Zaku machinegun water pistol. Its about 30cm long and, apart from the slightly too large pistol grip, scales out pretty well at about 1/30. All this from HLJ's sale aaaages ago. Packaged in one of HLJ's stupid, massive boxes (they give Amazon a run for their money) and marked up rather nicely with the incorrect box value. They'd marked the pre-sale value on the customs decleration, not what I actually paid, which is what I should be paying VAT on. So it cost me nearly £30 to actually get my package. Joy.
  22. Muy excellente Wilbur! I bet she's chuffed to bits with it.
  23. Looking through Bandai's FB I'm not sure why they're advertising it to the west (or why they bothered with English subtitles in the reveal video) it's like Jim Bowen giving you the "here's what you could have won!". If I had £450 to spare (a rough costing based on a 10% buyers fee, shipping and VAT) I think I'd rather spend it on half of a DeAg kit.
