  1. My kid didn’t care what the aircraft were that she was looking at! She wanted to play in the tunnel! (Of the tornado at Hendon) and on the swings outside......she was impressed by all of the things much as I was at her age........the buccaneer cockpit, that was really cool! I know it isn’t in the list but, it was my first buccaneer! without these “things” to see regardless of importance, the whole tower falls. I learn new things, impossible if you streamline too much! hendon is on my doorstep near enough about an hour away on a good day, it’s the museum of choice for me to pass my love of aviation down the line! (hopefully! She seems keen on air-peees and that is the spark we need for the future of all museums. it takes one a/c type to secure the passion, and that type just may be on the list? im gutted to hear they may be offing the trainer? 190. on my last photo Recce (before baby was mobile!) I moved past the 190 with a hope to getting back to it someday. I was not aware at the time just how significant it was! a unique airframe. there is plenty of space on the ceiling! hang em up like we did/do! Failing that..... Welcome to the BMAPS (britmodeller aviation protection society) grab your pitchforks people! surely lottery funding/grants could cover these establishments? My 2p well spent.
  2. @bootneck could it be release agent? ————————————- Long shot but Try targeted? washing with a brush dipped in thinner or ipa prior to paint. Though you most likely have! Failing that cyano but it’s a pain to treat/sand. i usually find cyano harder than the surrounding area but I’ve read about timing it just right.....so it hasn’t fully hardened. i never get it right. —————- Im not sure what ak solvent is? but, the brand I use is cellulose base. Zero/hiro (rapid evaporation) in any case, leave a drop or two on your pallette for a few (undisclosed time frame!) basically keep an eye on it until it congeals a bit..... (it will thicken up as the solvent evaporates, time depends on humidity/temp) then you’ve a more pasty product. its messy but efficient. i keep a near empty jar that has had the lid off for a while for just this purpose! Hope that lends itself to a happy new year!
  3. I use micro filler (airbrush ready) with a cocktail stick, if I’m targeting one area. Yes it will fill panel lines but it scrapes out easy enough. Again use the good end of said cocktail stick before it dries properly! (based on cellulose base paint) if it’s just a few holes I’d not even bother to dirt the airbrush.
  4. The airfix tail number is for the earlier machine. I noted it as an A-5 model. i wish I could say I remember where I found that out! As usual the web hunt went far and wide. 170346 is what I noted for the A-8 (I had to check the wip I did for the build) I don’t know much about fw190 myself but there are plenty of folks here that will point you towards proper sources. to be honest, I know the number is wrong but you really don’t notice it, and besides, that isn’t the worst error in the cabinet! I have an Israeli f-16 that has 008 on one side and 800 on the other!
  5. I built this kit ages ago, I really enjoyed. the werk nummer is wrong i didn't correct the access panel! I didn’t know about the wheels until I read your thread! but it still builds nice! Hey opus, your mottle is great! i tried again on a 262 and was happier but that what you have done looks the part! still haven’t built the typhoon, but I did buy two more typhoons in the standard boxing when they were reduced, the woman was literally placing the discount token back on the display shelf as I walked around the corner, I thought yep, I’ll take em both!
  6. Its taken me all week on and off, to read this thread. all I have to say is...... ......and i bet it has a fan in it.
  7. Thanks for your knowledge! i saw the demonstration model on WnW website and assumed it was a thing! ww1 isn’t my thing but that lanc ticks a few boxes! it seems a shame to simply cancel all of that effort, so I hope somebody sees potential in the kit and then brings it to fruition, I’ve no idea what’s involved at that level but I’m still curious...........
  8. I’ve been out of the modelling game for a couple of years (family issues) and since looking at the “scene” again I have discovered the (I think) awesome 1/32 Lancaster. and I then discovered, WnW shut up shop...... and also that meng seem to have re popped a couple of WnW kits....... indulge me! Will I be considering the Lancaster kit at any point in the near future? i think the kit looks great and would sure like to drool over the sprues.
  9. Just add a resistor before the led..... that can increase battery duaration. as I understand things, an led will draw full current without a resistor but can operate with very little current draw. eg a 20mA rated led will still work well enough at 5mA but it will last approx 75% longer. At the very least it will mean you change less batteries! (Or recharge less often) i settled on rechargeable coin cells.
  10. I didn’t like the music...... Now I’m definitely not buying one.
  11. Oooof i must be getting old! Now i look at it, well, I am smiling at my own daft ness.
  12. Post 2 MJ271 Stbd upper..... odd thing sticking out near the wingtip. thats what I’m talking about..... It seems odd?
  13. Magnetic stand is (now) obvious! but, it’s a genius touch! Any idea what that is sticking out of the wingtip?
  14. So I am a dozy So and so. life goes on........
  15. Modern kits are something to drool over in most cases I’ve seen! we are in a new world for model making! even since my return things have changed loads, for the better, with the exception of fewer high street model shops. you pretty much can’t go wrong with detail in an Eduard box. Tamiya is usually a safe bet, but research anyway. i find scalemates a good site to start with whatEver kit I’m interested in. Almost every manufacturer has a kit that is past its prime. modern Revell vs the old matchbox moulds they own...... airfix, similar! Ive not built either but miniart and afv club kits look nice! (1/35) New tool airfix is not to be overlooked.... 1/48 meteor is a cool kit, I’ve only dribbled on the parts but it looks nice, reviews etc seem good too. as for airbrushes, Iwata for me too. i started with the tr1 and I’m going to add an m2, I recommended the m2 to a mate for his first airbrush, he is very happy indeed. I think he got a bundle from graphicair or air-craft, can’t remember which now? I find 2 or 3 thin coats with humbrol enamels works ok, not an airbrush finish granted, but certainly not despicable. acrylics, keep the bristles moist. i find tamiya are great to spray! dry quick, and smooth if thinned sufficiently. zero/alclad great but more odour! (Cellulose) Humbrol acrylic Spray great with tamiya thinner. same with life colour.

  17. What are those Lego clamps? if you don’t mind! please. and this is moral boosting stuff! I'm struggling to build A kit.......
  18. that’s coming on well given the break, exactly on a par with my builds after my first long break. And I still keep dropping them, it doesn’t matter when you fix the legs on, they usually get it on most builds, it’s either that or pitot tubes, and the occasional door or prop. hopefully you’ll get the bug again! And perhaps hello too! (edit)
  19. The Eduard IX is a dream build. the airframe falls together. It is one of the best kits I’ve handled from the building perspective. the Airfix xix also comes out pretty good, I have no bad memories of that build, I wanted another box for another day but never got around to picking one up. You won’t notice the cockpit, it looks great on the shelf! i must say, I acquired the Eduard royal 1/72 spit, and my oh my! That little thing looks very good indeed. Completely blows away all other spits I’ve compared it with in this scale. if you’re a fan, have a look, it’s worthwhile! i built my xix prop this way; stick the pin into the fuselage and leave the spinner/blades off. (I think the normal way of glueing the 3 parts is wrong) then hang the prop on later. It spins if you blow it
  20. September 19th 2019! Finally got around to doing the wheels! Tamiya nato black was used. Everything has had a few coats of Alclad flat. Undercarriage set and drying. 20th September. Final assembly. Just waiting for glue to dry, then I can finish picking the mask. 28th September. Finished! This one took a while to get across the line. At some point I’ll take some decent finished shots..... I tried using ez line thread here. A tad over scale! l should get some RFI shots and do a bit for that........ I've been digging deep for a minuscule amount of modelling mojo! one thing is for sure, it will never leave me. ITS A DISEASE!
  21. Thanks for the pointer on the tub fixing! i have one of these in a part finished state...... the tub to fuselage bond was a problem I didn’t find a fix for. i have borrowed your method! cheers.
