  1. Looks nice, will you be doing a build thread?
  2. 6?! I wish I had one! Anyway...watching with interest.
  3. I'll join you on this one!
  4. Nice work so far. It's a great looking vehicle.
  5. Thanks, and I’m glad it’s inspired you! The paints I used were Hataka Orange Line lacquers. For the hemp I used their Camouflage Beige . And for the grey I think I used their Light Aircraft Grey.
  6. Smashing work! A nice tribute to the men who climbed aboard these.
  7. Internals all paints up. I haven’t spent a great deal of time here, as I say I want this to be a quicker build. I also plan on having it all closed up so not a great deal will be on show. The kit is a good start point for anyone who so wishes to detail the cockpit up. More to follow!
  8. This will bet first ever Tamiya aircraft and I am looking forward to it! Hopefully it will be a quick and simple build. I will be building straight from the box.
  9. I hope my build brings back fond memories, maybe not for the painters though! Now that you have pointed that out about the doors it seems obvious! Something just didn't look right about them, I should have done a bit more reference work, thanks for your help. I'd love to see a MRA4 model. I have no direct link with the Nimrod, but when they announced the MRA4 project was being binned and the airframe was to be scrapped it sorely hurt, my heart went out to everyone involved. Isolation does seem like the perfect time for a big build, hopefully you'll take the plunge. That goes for anyone else thinking of pulling one out if their stash, go for it, it was a fun build. Once again, thank you all!
  10. Yeah I’ve not got the patience for that! I reckon it wouldn’t too hard to get the same effect with plasticard.
  11. I once read that it was so powerful that it could strip the paint off a hanger door if it was accident switched on whilst on the ground. Sounds like an urban legend but I like to think it was true! The FOD covers are by Eduard and I got mine from Hannants. I think they were about £7, I reckon they are worth it as there are quite heavy seams in the intakes. Thank you again to everyone who has taken the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
  12. Thank you all for the great comments! I used Xtradecals MR.2 set (most of the set is complete and I’ll be looking to sell them once the current situation returns to normal) I also used the Model Alliance stencil set. Both sets went down really well, I couldn’t fault them. When I got the kit I also picked up the Ram Models Retirement set which I’ll also be looking to shift in the future.
  13. This is my 1/72 Airfix Nimrod MR.2. I used AM decals as the kit ones weren't great, I also put in some PE FOD covers for intakes/exhausts. The kit went together fairly well and was an enjoyable build for such a big model. I have always wanted a Nimrod in my collection. It silently served our nation so well during the Cold War, Falklands, The Gulf Wars, Afghanistan and UK SAR. I hope I have done it justice with my build. Thanks for looking and feel free to leave any comments you may have.
