At the risk of being obtuse... can one actually see the stove once it is installed?

Nice work. I know of the a/c, never seen a kit built before.
And those modern energy efficient bulbs should be banned. They are very bad for our health, due to the really, really, reallllly crappy light they give off. And they use a lot of heavy metals and bad stuff like that. Not to mention what they do to photographs.

I built one of the street versions years ago, almost my first Tamiya kit IIRC. I have one of these started, somewhere in the stash. Got part way through a major cut'n'shut to make it a little more 'track like' and then life sort of got in the way - I'll have to dig it out and see what sort of a dog's breakfast I made of it...
Nice work! It's a lovely little kit, and you're doing it proud.

Ha! A 48th Gnat - I'll buy that, it will be (almost) big enough to see! Unlike the 72th version, which is akin to a Sopwith Camel in size, although mercifully without the bracing wires.

Oooh, another GB, and Double Ugly, too. Add me to the list, if you would be so kind, sir.
Not sure what I'm going to do, but I have choices... so many choices...

I'll be following along too. My Grandad was RNVR during the war, and spent some time on these - I wish I'd managed to spend some talking to him about his wartime experiences, but he lived in the UK, I grew up in Australia...

Iain, I've read through this whole thread (and the other one over on umm... HyperScale??) with a lot of interest. I'm in for at least one of the fixes (currently have the F.1/F.3 kit), and I may be in for the other depending on costs.
Any news on how it's progressing?

OOOH, oooh, oooh, Can I join in too please? Not sure what I'll do, but it'll be a Lightning.

SCORE!! I was just doing some early research on my Mauritanian Super Tucano markings (in case it was going to be tricky) and I've found that Hannants are taking pre-orders for a sheet containing markings for a few different countries that are/will be using this bird. Find it here - I've just received the Hobby Boss kit, and it looks sweet. I'm looking forward to buildingthis, and may have to add some more to the stash to use up the rest of the markings on this decal sheet...

It's an 'ard life, ain't it?

You're a braver man than I, Gunga Din.
Well done so far, keep it going. -
I'm in, if there's still room. I have a couple of interesting schemes to do.

Thanks Wooksta. I've had a look at PJs, didn't seem to be anything suitable there. I will have another look for Meteor related stuff. And if required, I guess I could use my Airfix Lightning pilot, seeing as I can't build the kit due to the horrible flaw in the canopy...

Picked this kit up recently at our local swap meet, and I'm wanting to make it with a pilot in the seat. Has anyone got any ideas where I might find an FAA chappie to fit in the office? I could use a modern pilot, but I'd prefer something a little more period.
Thanks.

And the saga continues... I bought an F.3A kit from a large hobby place in Brisbane, Australia a month or so ago. When I saw this thread, I checked - yep, mine has the flaw too. Not as bad as some have shown/described, but there. So I will now sit and compose a strongly worded email to Airfix, and link them to this now extended thread for their further education.
I've also recently picked up the Stratos 4 issue of the TSR.2 (coz too many TSRs is never too many); after a quick check of the canopy through the small bag it's in it seems to be fine - and it has 2 gates on every clear piece, as well. Maybe the Chinese (who moulded this kit) are better versed in the subtleties of plastic injection moulding? If the muse moves me, I might go and browse the stash, just for fun, to see who else got it right or wrong.

If there's room for another, I'll have a go - I've always wanted to build a Super Tiger...

And Mauritania... I just found a photo of a Tucano that is interesting...

Right, I hope I'm not too late, but can I reserve Latvia please. That will get me off to my bum to start chasing around for a bit of (distant) family history...
I did see that NGOs are going to be allowed - is this going to be expanded to cover other organisations that operate aircraft *inside* their respective territories, such as NASA and the various Customs and Coast Guard aircraft, or is it just 'countries'? And what about 'Air America', which officially didn't exist, so therefore didn't belong to a country...
