  1. Bloody 'ell Bloomin' 'eck, he's got a framing thingamy-jig whatsit! That's organised, that is!
  2. I had a need to replace some chain mail on a figure a little while ago (no, you can't see her, she's still not finished), and I found that bridal tulle was a dead ringer for what had been used originally. Available in different mesh sizes and shapes, and as cheap as a really cheap thing. I cut it to approximate shape, tacked one edge with super glue, stretched to fit, tacking as I went, then basically flooded the whole thing with super glue to fix it in place. Looks OK to me, and when (if???) I ever get around to doing my big BBB, I might use the same bit of material (a metre of it was $1.50 or some such silliness, so I have heaps to spare.) RobG
  3. So, a major technological tour de force then? Thank-you, Mr Raleigh.
  4. Eh, you guys should try the French lights... AMX 13/75 and 90 are fun when things work, all the service life of a nuclear warhead when things don't work...
  5. Good.grief. Lovely, but who'd be able to see to assemble them? RobG
  6. Nice! Inspiration for me to dig mine out of the stash. And maybe the Heller 1/24 version as a practice run (I think I still have it). I'll be following along with bated breath. For nuts/bolt heads, there's Plastruct hex rod (cut slices off - PITA if you ask me) or one of the punch and die sets that are available, I have one each in hex and round. Might be worth a look. RobG
  7. I've got the Chaffee (hate it) and a Sherman E8 (mostly I do German TDs). And I would think that either Dragon or Trumpeter would be the logical choice for a tie-in here, as they both have some of the more esoteric machines in their ranges.
  8. No, no, no... there's an airlock and docking blocks and stuff on the forrard end. And possibly something on the aft, as well. Can't recall what now, I'll have to settle down and read the book again. Gosh darn... And the splat , can't forget the splat...
  9. Oh for some resin and etch... I'd buy 2 sets, one for each of my Heyfords... RobG
  10. I've always wanted to scratch Rama, from the Arthur C Clarke story... here's my carrot (and stick)! Add me as No30, if you would be so kind, good sir! RobG
  11. Hah, I thought I'd put my name in for this one... seeing as I obviously haven't, would the powers that be please add me! Regardez! RobG
  12. No problems Nigel - the pictures spoke volumes. I did once consider doing the Special Hobby CH-37 Mohave, but when I realised the work that would be needed in those big, empty engine pods, I put the kit down and backed away, carefully... Now that I see what you've had to do here, I'm glad I didn't allow my enthusiasm to run away with me. Because I am the laziest modeller you will ever see.
  13. Ah so, we're going to be going toucan a toucan, eh? Rob.
  14. Slowest builder? That'd be me. Somewhere in the 'must get back to this one day' section of the stash I have a Matchbox F-4M/K Phantom II that I started back in 79 or 80 - I really should dig that out and finish it. In other news, your choo choo looks the bomb - now that you're back on the boil, keep it going. I would like to see it done, something different.
  15. Noice! I ran into the WIP yesterday and, enthralled, read it from start to finish. Which was confusing due to the removed portions referenced in some posts, but oh well. Great to see it done and dusted - those Japanese schemes are certainly eye catching.
  16. Nice to see the old Matchbox kits getting some love. You've done a top job on that one - I wonder how many looked that good back in '74 (or was it '75? - why don't you crack open the fuselage and double check for us. )
  17. At the risk of being obtuse... can one actually see the stove once it is installed?
  18. Nice work. I know of the a/c, never seen a kit built before. And those modern energy efficient bulbs should be banned. They are very bad for our health, due to the really, really, reallllly crappy light they give off. And they use a lot of heavy metals and bad stuff like that. Not to mention what they do to photographs.
  19. I built one of the street versions years ago, almost my first Tamiya kit IIRC. I have one of these started, somewhere in the stash. Got part way through a major cut'n'shut to make it a little more 'track like' and then life sort of got in the way - I'll have to dig it out and see what sort of a dog's breakfast I made of it... Nice work! It's a lovely little kit, and you're doing it proud. RobG
  20. Ha! A 48th Gnat - I'll buy that, it will be (almost) big enough to see! Unlike the 72th version, which is akin to a Sopwith Camel in size, although mercifully without the bracing wires. RobG
  21. Oooh, another GB, and Double Ugly, too. Add me to the list, if you would be so kind, sir. Not sure what I'm going to do, but I have choices... so many choices... RobG.
  22. I'll be following along too. My Grandad was RNVR during the war, and spent some time on these - I wish I'd managed to spend some talking to him about his wartime experiences, but he lived in the UK, I grew up in Australia...
  23. Iain, I've read through this whole thread (and the other one over on umm... HyperScale??) with a lot of interest. I'm in for at least one of the fixes (currently have the F.1/F.3 kit), and I may be in for the other depending on costs. Any news on how it's progressing?
  24. OOOH, oooh, oooh, Can I join in too please? Not sure what I'll do, but it'll be a Lightning. Rob.
