If I'd had that carrier, I *might* have managed to finish during the year. Great display, and I'm glad that some people are building models.

I can't help with locations Mish, I have no idea where all that happens over there. And unless I win the Lotto (unlikely, as I don't play), I'm not going to be able to attend to display my model; it's a long way to there from here!

For my money, the rules is the rules. If we are going to make make exceptions for people who don't want to play by the rules, it invalidates the GB as originally conceived.
The idea behind the build is to let the Lesser Built Air Forces' get some love, and allowing people to build what they want, even if it's already taken, is just wrong. Are these 'overseas members' so one-eyed that they can't stretch a little and find something of interest in the many nations and types that remain unclaimed?If the rules are changed, I for one will probably withdraw; I joined to (hopefully) contribute to an interesting idea, to be a part of something different. Diluting that makes me lose interest.

I recall seeing something like this in a Scale Auto Enthusiast many, many years ago, but using diluted white glue instead of the PTFE tape. Rather than a lot of writing in an attempt to explain it, I thought I'd look for a tutorial, with pictures. Hope it helps.-

I've been looking around, because I love contra-props... Instead of waffling about with planetary gearboxes, a possibly better option would be to use 2 motors, running direct to the props. That would simplify the engineering a lot.
Or, even more simply, one motor with an extended shaft, gears on the each end - the inner prop shaft is driven from the rear gear.
These are R/C aircraft threads, but they've got some good ideas...

People bag Matchbox all the time, but I built a lot of them as a kid and do not ever recall being disappointed by one - to a 12yo, they looked the bomb, and they went together easily.I have one in the stash, but haven't started due to a fruitless (and an admittedly not very diligent) search for flat rigging wires for it.

I now wish I hadn't got rid of mine in the 'Great Stash Cull of 2009'. Very nice work, and as has been said, good to see an non-US airframe.

Another possibility for range increase might be to launch it, Mistel-style, from a much larger carrier. The Fw-200 Condor would be sized right, except that it could barely support its own weight without falling apart. Maybe a Ju-88 Zwillung?

Phil, the original idea was for just that, but I had a rush of blood to the head when I realised that a small plastic bloke just standing there holding a thin rod wasn't terribly informative. Or interesting. Although if I give him a lit ciggie underneath a large and colourful NO SMOKING sign.... hmm...
Andrew, that was my first thought too. Glad I'm heading in the right direction. Some experimentation is obviously in order! -

Trumpeter's 1/48th Westland Wyvern uses a small planetary gearbox to drive the contra-props (Turn the front one by hand, rear one goes the opposite direction. Kinda cool.). There may be something similar available online. Remember that you can extend the shafts back into the nacelle, so you won't have to cram it all in behind the prop. Flexi shafts are an option, as well, if you can't get a straight line to the prop drive.
EDIT: After a mission involving deep stash diving (I must admit to not expecting to come back), I dug out a 48th Wyvern and a 72nd Trumpeter Bear... the 48th g/box fits into the Bear's nacelle with room to spare. There'll need to be some engineering done, but nothing that couldn't be conquered. I'm not sure how good Trumpeter are at replacement parts, but they may be worth approaching.
For the record, the nacelles on a 72th Bear are huge. Lots of room for all sorts of gubbins. If you want photos, I can manage that.-

Hi guys.
Brains trust question. I'm looking to do a small vignette of an armoured vehicle being pressure cleaned after a day in the muck. I can scratch all the bits I need, but I can't quite work out the best/easiest/most realistic way of doing the fan of pressurised water coming from the nozzle.
I do have some ideas, but thought I'd get some other perspectives. Any thoughts welcome.Rob.

I love those late/post-war piston engined monsters. There's something about them that stirs my blood.
And you sir, have done a cracking job on this kit. Inspiration for me to drag my own out of the stash and start it. Right after I finish the couple of dozen other winged things I have sitting around...-
