  1. Little addition: It bothered me (on this and earlier models) that the photos i took didn't looked as good as i wanted it. So this afternoon i took a box (from a microwave;) ) and build myself a whitebox. Here are the results, even with my simple camera much better:
  2. She looks really fast, a really nice fuselage design. Can't find any flaws About the thing that the undercarriage is strong....i personally like such things - when you can see and feel on a model how and if the construction worked in reality
  3. See my latest build: The Junkers Ju 88 A6 by Dragon. This one has kept me busy the last 3 months i think. It was a hard fight sometimes, but very pleasant overall. The aircraft represents the Ju 88 A6 with a ballon cutting device consisting of blades all over the front of the aircraft. This was used so that anti aircraft ballons don't damage the plane. It came out as inefficent, as anti air cannons were way better than balloons that weren't used anymore in the late war. Besides, the blades slowed the bomber down at about 30kph. The most Ju88 with the cutting device were converted into sea reconnaisance aircraft. But not this specific one, 4D+DL of the eagly squadron 3rd KG30. It landed 1941 in England after it was misleded by english radar and run out of fuel. The kit itself fits perfect, no complain at all and it gives am impressive look if completed. It comes with some PE parts, mainly for the cockpit that can't be seen very well (though it looks very nice while building). The cutting blades are PE aswell. The downsides of the kit are the wheels and the decals. The wheels don't have a tire profile or the braking wires on the rim. For example Revell does this even in 1/72 scale. Regarding the decals, they are wonderful to handle and very thin. But there are simply not enough decals, no "Nicht betreten" (no step), no "Nicht anfassen" (don't touch), no fuel hints, no other markings. So if you went with this kit, i would strongly recommend buying some extra decals. The scheme is the standard RLM 70/71/76 splinter scheme for bombers. The swastikas are selfmade decals, as you still can't buy anything with them on it here in Germany. It is all brush painted with Revell Aqua Colors. The weathering is done with oil paint, pigments and drybrushing. Here are the pics:
  4. She looks really dangerous all black. Love the wings on this aircraft.
  5. This idea has been in my mind for times, too. You did it very well:) It's just a lovely setting, didn't have much more to say!
  6. As you said, take it as a build to learn from;) I don't like painting white either. Try painting in thinner layers and slightly sanding after each layer. Your surface will be much smoother.
  7. aah yes looks a lot better The light is very important when you try to give a good impression of your work;) You can't do anything about the canopy, that's just a kits issue.
  8. i don't think the alu is this bad. It simply gets some sort of grey after time. About the things with the gunsight and everything....it's a small scale and nobody will ever notice such things. You are absolutely right with not spending a bucket of money on such parts, especially cockpit parts that can't clearly be seen through the canopy on this scale. Good looking builld!
  9. Looks nice overall. Just the red intakes look a bit wiggly. Did you use some masking tape to paint them? The orange colors looks like glowing in the dark The canopy appears to be rather thick, isn't it?
  10. Really nice looking diorama and clean built. What grass did you use? Is this the pouring grass from train modelling?
  11. broke an important decal...*sigh*..wanted to buy some decal paper anyways...

  12. Should be enough for the cockpit. When the canopy is on, it will look fine. On the prop it's black i assume? Looks a bit blue on the photo....
  13. Thank you for this build from one of the most remarkable aircraft constructions of this time! Can't find any serious flaws. You have some rectangular marks on the right wing (best seen on pictures 3 & 4). Are they intended? Looks like the panels had lain there and were moved to their current location.
  14. hm, something broke loose under the taped canopy...can't wait to remove it after painting...

  15. That's one of the most attractiv schemes i've seen so far on a modern aircraft! Top build.
  16. Dirty navy jet Reminds me of my latest F18. Nice to see you've gone for the asymmetric loadout, looks very interesting. The only thing that bothers me is why the nozzle insides are white? If i look to the rest of the jet, they should be black as hell;)
  17. I have some critics for you, since all positive is said (always easy here to get a load of compliments ) First the photos as you said, they are mobile pictures i assume? If you don't have a proper camera, try placing your model on a flat white (or other unicolor) surface. For me a shirt placed over a box works fine, you don't need a professional photo box. Regarding the model: First use more thinner for your colors. they are too thick i think. Are you using acrylic or enamel? Then try to sand (type 2000 sandpaper) the surface between the layers. And get yourself some masking tape, so the different colored areas are cleaner seperated and straight. This is very useful for the canopy, too (though you did it very well for free-hand brushing).
  18. do you plan to strenghten the original gears a bit? Since the aircraft gets much heavier, it will be necessary i think. Maybe you can use a spare gear from a bomber or somethink like that.
  19. Always refreshing to see a russian aircraft. Cool build. The green is a nice tone somehow. Your weathering provides a realistic aluminium look.
  20. As this plane would have flown late war, you can also go with RLM 81/82/83 with a underside in RLM 76. Or you go with RLM 72/73 (Splinter scheme for sea aircraft).
  21. try using masking tape next time for the seperation of top and bottom color. You will get a cleaner edge.
  22. how about you take two JU-88? The 109 was never intended for long range journeys. The longest range with a 300 ltr tank was about 900km. There was a concept plane with two of these tanks, but i think it wouldn't have had much more than 1200km range.
  23. What was your reference with the color (if you have any)? Looks really interesting with the green-blueish gray. I don't know if i like it The build itself looks clean and nice.
