  1. All original parts are in the box so seems pre-modification IDF Super Mystere can be assembled. Only decals are needed.
  2. FM-2 is a nice choice. Generally speaking WWII and early post WWII subjects still provide pretty large space to release variants that differ significantly from standard machines but were never kitted well. Various types of Soviet aircraft or early/late variants of almost anything - Wildcat, Corsair, Mustang. The list can be endless.
  3. Some yesterday's activity: chopped main airframe parts and started to pull together some photo etched pieces: armour plating, pilot's seat. Interesting approach by Eduard to control panel: they both give it as painted sandwich and also provide transparent plastic - sort of two options are provided depends what you like most? And still hard to go and destroy the beauty supplied by Tamiya.
  4. Okay. First box to unpack was Mk.I that I plan to build as a BoB machine. Some goodies I have to improve the build - xtradecal for BoB and eduard's fret for the cockpit mainly. Tamiya kit looks awesome already oob but maybe some cockpit enhancements wouldn't hurt. More to come
  5. Hi everyone! I've been long thinking about this project and is now starting this to roll. Basically the plan is to build three spitfires in parallel. Subjects chosen would be mk.I, mk.IX and mk.XIX thus covering three major types such as early and late Merlin engined and Griffon engined machine. Here is what I'm starting with: Any advise or ideas are very welcome!
  6. OMG! Two brand new S-51 boxes after decades of neglect... Now I have to wait for comparison before I buy. What a strange time.
  7. Dear friend, After consultation with fellow modeller I recognise my memory is not as good any more and Valom is indeed equal to Heller geometrically. So major issue is some smaller inaccuracies with panel lines and very elaborated riveting.
  8. I personally have not measured this, but fellow modellers say geometrically Valom is losing to Heller (again I personally have not measured and I rarely care much about couple mm). And more importantly raised panel lines are easier to remove and rescribe than Valom's riveting. And actually Heller did pretty nice raised panels many can live with okay. I personally hate heavy rivets as this is hard to save it during construction, difficult to reapply matching manufacturer's style, and overall small rivets should not be seen much in 1/72 especially on painted camouflaged aircraft.
  9. I think with all those news and recent releases I'm personally getting to a point where I will be able to obtain a very good kits of all the Dassault originated IDF fighters from Ouragan to Kfir. SH gave us Super Mystere and is getting us Dagger/Nesher, Modelsvit seems close with definitive Mirage III, we have great Kfir from AvantGarde. The only zone is we need upgraded Ouragan (Heller is still considered best in town) and Mystere (SH to refine their's?) Great for my hobby, not as great for my wallet
  10. Excellent quality! Inspires to quickly run and buy one of those. Hope SH soon makes a box of pre-upgrade Super Mysteres for 1967 campaign.
  11. It's actually funny confusion with many Soviet tanks having the same label as US trainer aircraft. T-28, T-34 are the most popular examples. Even BT-5 or BT-7 indexes exist for both basic trainers and Soviet high-speed (Bystrokhodniy) tanks. Luckily BT-5 or BT-7 trainers were absolutely not numerous. But also SU-85 or SU-122 can be confused with Su-27 or Su-35. In the first case SU meaning Samokhodnaya Ustanovka (self-propelled artillery) and in another obviously Sukhoi. And then we have two series of Sukhoi indexes where Su-9 is not always the same Su-9. Fun stuff.
  12. Excellent model. Crisp and clean built! Just my opinion is that production Raptor is still more proportionate than the YF-22 with huge tail surfaces. But despite that the F-22 of any model is the best looking gen5 fighter indeed. But tastes are different...
  13. I agree box arts should not be 100% accurate. Although main airframe elements still should be present - such as wings, canopy, pilot if the art shows aircraft in flight, tail and stabilizer (hello Airfix )
  14. Yeah. Seems to be a great year for MiG fans with forthcoming 17 from Airfix and this pretty decent 19 (surprisingly well done compared to other latest releases by AZ). Plus we had newly tooled Fishbeds recently too from Eduard and Modelsvit. Good MiG-3 and -9 are still missing
  15. Why to split mk.82 bombs into 3 parts??? And no separate slats and speed brakes is disappointing indeed. Airfix did much better job there. Honestly should Airfix bother about A-4C nose or further about A-4E intakes - it would be winner.
  16. I do not know how I missed it either. Magnificent work on the chef-d'oeuvre! It's both the H.P.'s chef-d'œuvre of the 30s and Moa's chef-d'œuvre of the XXI century.
  17. Thanks for sharing your build! Looks very convincing. I like how yours turned out. Going to start mine soon so your advice on inaccuracies is indeed helpful!
  18. I was already impressed with two VTOL t-birds. But a whole line up is completely amazing!
  19. Great job on the assembly, and thanks for bringing this model to us! Definitely buying one.
  20. Is original French Super Mystere boxing ok for the 1967 war? As I understand re-engining happened afterwards so this IAF kit is no good for the six-day war.
  21. A great thread. Pushes me to move mine on top of the stash.
