  1. Terrific model! Spent quite some time looking at the photos. Very impressive! I like the panel effect on your nmf finish a lot. I know it's not the easiest thing to make it look right.
  2. That is a pair of very nice models! Always liked the look of Jaguar especially two-seat trainer version. How are the two compare in terms of accuracy, construction ease, detailing etc? From what I read so far elsewhere - both are reasonable (Hase is more accurate) but both aren't close to being definitive Jaguar model though.
  3. Hi Fuad, Great model as always and diorama is simple but very atmospheric! Also a very interesting subject! I do not like Luft'46 much (primarily because of accompanying background stories that nazis were actually not defeated ) However this one is really not a true futuristic Luft'46 bird but rather something that could fly operationally during maybe late 1944 or 45 almost like Do-335. I guess the design was sketched somewhat in 1943? Another thought that I recently had about Luft'46 - could some of those be produced in post-war Czechoslovakia or France? And then - could post-war Czechoslovak airframes got into Israel under Velveta operation instead of Spitfires? This BV P.207 thing seems a very good candidate for such background story
  4. It looks simply excellent in SEA camouflage. Great model, great idea, great quality! Only one question - should it actually have at least couple sidewinders for operational sorties? Maybe not though as F-105 flew without air-to-air missiles at all. And wonder how this would look like in silver dope instead of camo
  5. Excellent model of this rare beast! NMF finish is simply excellent! Technique worked very well to highlight panel joints!
  6. I think reality was complex and some FLs could end up on the Middle East. But my point was more about whether Eduard made a big miss by not packaging an FL version? I think they do miss Indian variant that was indeed important from airwar perspective inclusive. But do they miss sales for Arab-Israeli conflicts? Not that much as anything between 21F-13 and 21bis was there.
  7. Yes. FLs even strangely participated in air parades on the Red Square. These were from the batch intended for India before local production started, but were not shipped and diverted for VVS use for political reasons. Afghan is interesting. Who knows whether this can be an Indian-built one?
  8. Was FL version actually used by Arab states? I believe FL was a version manufactured in India for Indian AF only. Some first FLs were manufactured and stayed in the USSR but I can't find references that these were delivered to Mid East. For instance Egypt used Soviet-produced F-13, PF, PFM, and then went to MF. Same about Vietnam - another MiG operator that produced most air-to-air kills with the type. No FL were ever used in Vietnam.
  9. Yeah. Thanks God it was more or less straight pieces of tamiya tape for me. But the masking job was substantial given I mostly build jet fighters with only 2-3 areas to mask Oh yes - those rounds on the bottom edge added some fun until I found the right diameter on my cutting template.
  10. That is a very interesting conversion to a very special version of the bird. Always nice to see something non-standard! Yeah, I built this kit too and agree to hsr that sponson is the only true fit issue. Otherwise it's good. Canopy does seem complex but an advice from this site to start with the windscreen and top side and then add left and right sides worked very much ok. Also be mindful that quite a lot of details is missing. E.g. none panels are shown on the sponson. Very few details are there in the undercarriage bays. Main undercarriage legs are simplistic. Even rear cabin cargo door is not engraved! For rivet counters there is some frustration too - tail booms are shorter maybe couple mm, wing span outside of nacelles is significantly shorter than real thing (about 3 mm each side). Eduard PE or CMK resin is a good idea for the greenhouse cockpit as everything is very well visible. Still it is a Bronco so whatever inaccuracies are there - it will look like a Bronco on the shelf!
  11. Similar experience when I flew this in 2009 in Ukraine Lviv-Kyiv. Another striking thing was no doors on the luggage shelves. Everybody just pulled their bags there so that some bags were actually protruding beyond the shelves edge. In case of turbulence this all should have quickly come down...
  12. Very good work on this kit, and I really like those exercise markings - gives this bird a bit different look. Also great summary of changes or improvements - should guide others on the construction journey! Need to finally treat my CB-101B with a photo session and put it on this site
  13. First of all this is because of very slim Tu-134 fuselage diameter of just 2.9 meters that it surprisingly inherited from B-29. Tu-4 was a copy of B-29 with 2.9 meters fuselage and same diameter is retained on all the Tupolev bombers all the way through to Tu-95 series. Tu-104 had a wider fuselage but in order to speed up production and decrease costs a smaller and narrower Tu-124 airliner was put in place using equipment used for bombers manufacturing. With 2.9 m fuselage. Tu-134 was a direct development of Tu-124 with more advanced engines and aerodynamics. But with the same fuselage. In fact if you compare Tu-134 to modern jets - it's similar to CRJ900 or Embraer-175 that have 2.7 and 3 meters fuselages respectively while DC-9 with its derivatives was wider.
  14. Great work on this very strange looking beast! Have an appetite to buy SH kit someday just because this is so unusually looking aircraft. Fairey definitely had some imaginative engineers!
  15. Nice build! And great it is done in classic Aeroflot livery which I think fits very well both this and its larger bro Tu-154. Flew this many times as a kid and the last time it was in 2008 on DMO-MSQ route when Belavia suddenly served an old fuel burner instead of B733 which was already typical on that route back then. Tu-134 take off and touch down moments were much 'sharper' than in the modern airliners. You would be really pressed into chair on take off!!!
  16. Okay. Mk.XIX is pretty much done for painting. Rob Taurus vacform canopy is on. That is the second vacform canopy in my modeller's career. Fingers crossed no CA vapours whitening will appear inside. Phew. The most complex of the three is almost ready. In fact can't call it really difficult, more this were self-induced complications to improve OOB kit. Next would be Eduard's mk.IX and Tamiya's would be the last to assemble as it seems easiest in construction so far. Dennis
  17. Very nice model of Ar-234! Superb in every detail as always! Early jet aviation is an area of interest of mine so hopefully one day I'll get to this too
  18. Some good progress is reached over the last week. Almost everything is pulled together - wings attached, resin rudder, stabilizers, ailerons fitted, oil cooler intakes are in place. Quite a bit of sanding is over, just some final efforts here and there remaining. Wing had some sink mark as indicated by putty at various places - this is unfortunately pretty common for Airfix moldings. As mentioned some final sanding, elevator and rudder trim tabs and canopy are remaining pieces. A little question - what colour were the interiors of rear wheel well painted with? I guess this is either silver or PRU Blue... maybe some other thoughts? Dennis
  19. Great job and background story sounds fairly realistic Love that bombload on the TSR! Very much a Thud-looking aircraft. I think a Wild Weasel role can be very suitable for the TSR too
  20. Yeah. Seems that the intakes are fairly small so probably black painted dead walls would be enough to ensure no see-through effect. Thanks for response!
  21. Very nice job with these beauties! I was thinking half-day yesterday about what kits to start next after my Spitfires reach decent progress. Mostly been looking at sprues and instructions of j21r and j32. And today I see these two in RFI and WIP sections so choice is made Just a question - did you change anything in the intake section or just left it bare as designed by SH? This area is the main stopper for me so far to tackle the twin-boomer.
  22. How are these decals behaving when being applied? Any problems experienced or precautions needed?
  23. Hi Adam, can't say I'm a Spitfire addict, originally simply wanted to add a Spit to the collection. But could not choose which one to build - BoB mk.I to join my early Hurricane and Defiant, or an Israeli one for the IDF collection, or a post-war machine - was always fascinated by 5-blade propellers. Plus there are lots of good kits including an excellent one by Eduard which I was tempted to try. So here I am And I have strong plans for at least two more in the future: trop mk.V in desert camo and the last in the series Seafire mk.47 for Korean war.
  24. Some progress on my Mk.XIX. Closed the fuselage, also put together wings. Done some rough sanding already but more sanding job is still to be made. All is okay except for the questionable joint between wing and fuselage. Seems some plastic strips are needed here... No drama, but wonder why this happened. Dihedral is okay so it's just a fit issue caused by either larger tolerances of the kit or me just pressing the fuselage halves too firmly. That is all for now, bedtime Thanks for watching! Dennis
