  1. 16 signed up, halfway there. Wez, if we all promise to do two models, does that get us to 30...? πŸ˜‰
  2. A couple of photos of AR501 from 1986 that might be useful. At Mildenhall: And at Middle Wallop:

  5. One wonders who will be editor now that the editorial staff have all left, and who will be the design team, now that the design team have left? If you don't have an editor or designer, how can you have a magazine?
  6. Well, if you are doing Italy and Greece, how about the four countries in between - Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Albania?
  7. This is the 1965 Revell kit, H-179, re-scribed, but no other detail added. Decals by Modeldecal (ca 1979) and represent an F-4EJ of 302 Kokutai, Chitose AFB, 1976:
  8. Cheers, guys - I appreciate it! Now I need to work my way up to Grand Master Modeler! Wonder if I'll get an even snazzier certificate for that...?
  9. And finished! Had a small issue with the canopies - a little paint seeped under the masks in places, so I had to go round with a cocktail stick to clean up some of the framing. And a few little flecks of paint also managed to get into the canopy - grrrrr.... Overall, an interesting and nostagic build! It turned out a lot better than I thought it would, though it is still definitely a '1/72' model - as in 'one views it from 72 inches'.... Still, for a 1965 kit, it does look like a Phantom. And completing it means I now qualify as 'Revell Official Master Modeler'! I have a crisp new Dollar bill to put in an envelope - now when does the mail truck come by...? I don't know if I can wait 6 weeks, I'm so excited! Where should I hang my Official Club Membership Certificate?
  10. Thanks, Alan! Almost done: Just need to add the drop tank, give it a panel line wash and a final coat of Future.
  11. Not forgotten, I've just been sidetracked by other matters. So I've been slowly working on the paintwork. After that primer coat, I added a little pre-shading with black along the prominent panel lines and a bit more heavily on the often stained in real life undersides. This was followed by a coat of Light Gull Gray, followed by a little masking so I could add a final white undersides coat. This morning, I started decalling, using Future as a decal set. The Modeldecals are OK, but the aged glue leaves a white residue that needs to be removed before the decal can be applied to the model. Next up will be the Natural Metal areas at the back end, followed by some more decalling.
  12. It's accurate - rickets was very common in the1950's.......
  13. When it was printed mainly in fuzzy black and white on recycled toilet paper, you mean? πŸ™‚ I, too, was an early convert and the quality is much better than those bad old days!
  14. Without wishing to sound flippant, why don't you ask them? πŸ™‚
  15. OK, thanks all for the responses - I'll have to go elsewhere for my late-service FAA harnesses then!
  16. As David alluded to earlier, this just released:
  17. Some folks have FOMO; I have FOMU - Fear of Messing Up.... I have some big, expensive kits, and have added a ton of aftermarket to the boxes in many cases - now I scare myself just looking at it all.....
