  1. While attending a dull college course on Anthropology, my idle 17 year old self was amused by the thought that famed paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey could write a book titled "The Bedwetter"...
  2. Indeed. I was never happy with store-bought bread, so we've been making our own for 20-odd years.
  3. Ironically, it's license-made in the US by Hersheys....... There's a sordid tale involved, but Hersheys bought the license, and while they didn't alter the recipe by much, they do use different ingredients, which means it has a sweeter taste and the texture isn't quite the same. At the same time, they apparently managed to get the import of proper Cadburys from England banned, though I can still find it in certain import stores so I don't know how true that is. Apparently, according to the BBC, the difference is in how they treat the milk - "Hershey's puts milk through a process called lipolysis, Earle says. This partially sours the milk, and creates butyric acid - a compound found in such diverse substances as parmesan cheese and baby spit-up. It gives the chocolate a "tangy taste" as Earle puts it. The chief advantage of this method is that chocolate can remain on shelves longer without the taste changing - but it's also a taste American consumers have become accustomed to and nowadays even expect." So, yeah - there's a bit of an aftertaste...
  4. I'm going to annoy a few 'real' Americans here by saying that Hershey's isn't real chocolate. Always reminds me of the really cheap and nasty Easter eggs we used to get as kids. I've converted more than a few over here to Cadburys.
  5. Must be an East Coast thing - I've been here nigh on 30 years and I've never heard of them! For the uninitiated, there's a definite difference in what's available in stores from region to region in this country and I'm sure many West Coast/South West staples are not available elsewhere. We watch a cooking show, based in New England, that rates ingredients and we're often shown groceries that are not available out here.
  6. Just been through that with our cable and internet provider, Graham. Took me the best part of 5 hours over three days to get our bill reduced to the levels that new subscribers are getting. The days when 'customer is king' are coming to an end.
  7. One might think, Chris, but there will be those out there who simply are either oblivious or who don't care and will continue to be loyal.
  8. I just typed the names and months of the mags into Google Image and copied the results - they were daft enough to leave up the old ones for anyone who cared to search. I agree that it's breath-taking. This was hardly accidental - this could only have been done deliberately. Do they think people are stupid?
  9. Very restrained. 😉
  10. Look familiar? :
  11. Although I have not seen them myself, I am reliable told that the latest February 2022 SAMI issue is in fact a redacted version of April 2021's issue with the editorial and diary pages replaced but the same cover and articles - even the 'NEWS". or more correctly YEAR OLD NEWS. The same is true for February's MAM and SMMI.
  12. Clearly he's one of those "Experienced Masochists"....
  13. I made the mistake of buying one of those when I was researching a book. Incredibly crude, it went straight in the bin as I couldn't see a realistic way to salvage it. I think the boxlid has mis-spelled "Experienced Masochists"..... I'll be interested to see what you do with it though! 😜
  14. Exactly. I can't see how anyone with half a brain cell could think that that sort of tape could remain private forever. And I just cannot fathom why you'd want to make that sort of tape otherwise. It is interesting that 'poor Pammy' refused to cooperate with the filmmakers though.
  15. Getting away from the TV show and looking back at the 'scandal' itself. Given all the 'heartache' and 'emotional scarring' that the pair claim they suffered from this tape going public, why on Earth would they wish to film themselves so compromisingly in the first place?! Was it an ego thing or a souvenir of a foreseen end of the relationship, or what? Totally bizarre...
  16. Yep, agreed, Jon. 1. There are more than a few websites that now charge for 'premium' content. I foresee a near future where most content will be behind paywalls. Look at the way TV is going.... 2. And look at the issues that the Photobucket Phiasco threw up last year. Much content has consequently been severely devalued. 3. I'm an admin at another forum, and our links to our old home at Tapatalk are now basically useless, due to photo-host issues and the constant barrage of unwanted ads. Sorry e-enthusiasts, but it'll be a very long time before print is entirely replaced.
  17. 1/43 Farley Fruitbat Mk. XVILSVX. In typical Tamiya fashion, they release the less popular version first - we won't see the most built version, the XMLIX, until MMXXXXVIII. All boxings will include PE for the upper wing railings, whine glasses, pitchforks and menus, while the tables and chicken coops will be cast in resin. In addition, all boxings will include a packet of: Inflatable tyres are also included, for those who don't like vinyl.
