  1. That looks pretty splendid to me, only one gripe, your workshop is much too clean and tidy. Personally, I wouldn't weather it any more, it's fine as it is. John
  2. Me again, sorry forgot to add, what a beautiful brace of Dominies.
  3. I remember from my ATC gliding instructor days that the good book said that you could use physical force on a student who 'froze' on the controls at a low height or in a dangerous attitude. Easy enough in a Slingsby T21 but if you were in the back of a Cadet Mk III you would have to release the harness and lean through the jury stuts to get at the student. fortunately it never happened to me.
  4. I think I would call that ' Dedication above and beyond the call ' etc. What scale is this? John
  5. I told myself not to watch any more 1/72 builds, but as ot's you, I'm in too also. C'mon then, get on with it.
  6. Another one up to your usual high standard Ced. What's next? Cheers John
  7. Coming along nicely Stix, and as you say, you know it's all there. Just taking the opportunity to catch up while the house is quiet, guests napping or playing with their electronic device. I'm tempted to do some work on the Spitfire but I know that if I do a voice from above will say " John, could you just......" so I'll will resist temptation and watch everyone else's builds instead. Regards. John
  8. I like the green, I've tried for something like that on mine. I think you were right about the HGW rivets by the way, I havn't used them yet but I'm not too hopeful. Looking forward to more John
  9. Modelling in bare feet, whatever next?
  10. That looks like something that might come out of our pool filter when I've left it too long between backwashes. What film do you use for the masking? I've recently had to buy a new roll of Frisket film as the one I bought about 25 years ago ran out. I like the camouflage' but I don't think I want to use the gloop thanks. Cheers John
  11. That looks good. I have one of these also, waiting to be converted to an FR 18 so now I know how much filler I am likely to use! Looking forward to the cockpit photos John
  12. Your workbench looks like you've already been there several years! My man cave window faces west so I get the evening sun which is still quite strong at this time of year, I try to remember to swivel my magnifier 90deg when I've finished so that it's out of the sun. Looking forward to seeing more of your amusing/edifying threads. John
  13. Me again, the bazuki player is a reference to the Monty Python cheese shop sketch, perhaps you were not a fan. The new avatar is Flossie, the eldest of our three, being eleven years old. Cheers John
  14. You could have the front gunners legs dangling down below the turret, that's probably what they did anyway. I find it almost impossible also not to break parts like the one shown, when removing them from the sprue, even using a razor saw. Enjoy your outing. John PS do the specialist cheese shs have bazuki players?
  15. See, I told you that you'd done it. I was just a little premature.Ten out of ten for perspicacity, or is it perseverance? Just a feeble attempt at humour, this thread is becoming much too serious. Have a good weekend. John
  16. Temporary reprieve on the decorating front, it's too hot. I've rubbed down and re-painted the kitchen door frame and we're just going to settle for a good clean up instead and try again in a couple of months. I think we're all looking forward to you getting more done. Regards. John
  17. Finished reading Tom Neil's "Silver Spitfire" last week, now reading Daviv Baldacci's "The Forgotten"', nothing to do with aviation, but it won't be long before I find something else. I'm planning to re- read "Nine Lives " soon if I can find an early edition.
  18. What a thoughtful lady you have, my wife won't get things like that as they are not romantic! I know that's why I want them! SHE wants romance, not ME! I want planes! Rob Breakfast with Britmodeller time again. Yes, she is very thoughtful, but she won't buy me actual kits since she bought me a WNW Albatros for my birthday a couple of years ago and it still isn't finished! Started watching the McGregor "Battle of Britain" documentary last night. It looks very familiar, perhaps the BBC edited it down to 60min when they showed it, whereas the original was 90min. Good stuff though. John
  19. That's amazing and very helpful. You make the face painting look so easy, the true mark of an expert. John
  20. Hi John. Sorry the shooting trip got off the an, er, interesting(!) start You didn't say whether you actual managed to do any actual shooting though? I fired one round. I loaded it manually, but because there was no magazine in place, the case didn't eject properly and the slide mangled it on it's way back to load the next ( non-existent ) round so I had to remove it with the needle nosed pliers on my Leatherman gadget. I didn't try it again. It wasn't a completely wasted trip, for certain categories of firearms you carry a card which has to be stamped and signed three times a year to show that you are in current practise, and I got my third stamp/signing of the year, so that's done. I will try again next Sunday morning and take everything with me!!
  21. Hi, thanks for the kind words, hope you had a good holiday. I told you I probably wouldn't catch up with you while you were away. I have most of the cockpit bits and pieces painted now, and am hoping to attach them before my enforced 'rest' next week. I'll be watching yours though. Regards. John
