That's great Peter, Your post is dated 12.52AM here so the problem probably has something to do with the time difference. What a shame.
Hope you're having a well deserved rest

That's excellent, shame it didn't make it to the gallery. Will you put a pilot in it now?
Well done

Better one out of two than zero out of one! They both look splendid.

I didn't realise that you'd done a RFI as well as the GB gallery all I can say is you've done it again!
I did wonder about the pilot myself, it reminded me of Tony Hancock in Those Magnificent Men etc.( probably before your time. )
Cheers

There's that attention to detail again, finishing the fabric covered surfaces flat.

Damn! Beat me to it. The oil washes look great Julian, I wish mine turned out like that, I either do too much or too little. I have recently bought some oil paint which can be thinned with water, perhaps I'll have more success with that.

Hi Andy, thanks. Yes it's a great kit, Tamiya produced some other great 1/48 kits also at that time, like the P-51 and Wildcat, one of which I am about to finish after a gap of 10 years!
Cheers

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments.

Interesting that we went for different internal colours (Salmon Pink against Interior Green) and it shows the debate within our great hobby as to what colours were at any given period; I actually think either could be right having tried to research it at the time.
The reason that my undercarriage bays were green is that at the time I started this I was not aware of the salmon pink primer. II know better now, when I build my 1/32 Corsair I will probably do them salmon pink overpainted with interior green so that the pink shows through.
Thanks for looking
Cheers

Welcome aboard Stix, for what should be a fairly short ride. Yes it it bright, I might tone the wings down a little after I've applied all the transfers. I have a Hobbycraft Corsair somewhere which I have started to convert to the prototype, also with yellow wings.

I'm agree with giemme on the colours unless you are going for a factory fresh aircraft with no weathering anywhere.

Thanks AntPillips and Julian, I've always liked the US Navy inter-war colours. i have a couple more unstarted in my stash, perhaps I will have finished them in 10 years time!

Thanks Rob, it's going to take a little longer than planned, but I'll get there eventually.

Thanks F-32 I was quite pleased with how it turned out.
J-W I used Lifecolor paints, it was my first time with them. I used the colours specified in the instructions, non-specular blue grey and non-specular light grey. I used the blue grey from the bottle on the underside outer wing panels then lightened it ( probably with the light grey, I don't remember ) for the upper surfaces to represent fading and then again for the control surfaces and other fabric covered areas. I hope the helps
Cheers

Mrs B wouldn't go to Lidl until a few months ago when some friends told her that they have some very nice wine there so it's OK now.
I like the 'gadget' section in the middle, you can find some interesting items there, some of them useful for modelling too.

This was as far as I got with this before we came to France 10 years ago, it went into a large box with other unfinished kits and was forgotten until I discovered the box in the back of the barn a few months age.
This is another Tamiya kit which begs to be built as soon as you open the box, so now I'm going to finish it. I have backdated the -4 to a -3 so that I could finish it in a " Yellow Wings " scheme.
I'm planning to start properly at the weekend, and as most of the painting is already done it shouldn't take too long (he said with his fingers crossed )
Thanks for looking and feel free to comment

just to show that I do finish kits occasionally, this is the last one I completed before I left the UK 10 years ago. It represents the aircraft flown by 1st Lt Foy R Garrison of VMF`213 and as far as I can remember was built straight from the box, it shouted build me NOW when I opened it.
I hope you enjoy it, any comments welcome

I'm glad you asked this question, I have a PCM Mk XIV which I intend to convert to an FR XVIII. I have also recently bought the Eduard 1/48 Mk XVI which I will use as a guide, assuming that the wing is correct of course.
Hope you do a WIP when you get started.
Cheers

That's a mighty fine weathering job. I'm not a big fan of extreme weathering but that looks just right for a well used operational aircraft.

Same comment as for the Defiant ( without Togo )

No, paint the fuselage Alclad and the wings with non metallic silver or even silver/grey of your choice. On some aircraft the gun access panels were left NM. In the Squadron Walk Around on the Mustang you can see the zinc chromate primer showing through on really worn aircraft.
Sorry to cause all this confusion, I should have kept my mouth shut!
Good luck

There have been some really great builds here, I'm only sorry I didn't finish, I bit off a bit more than I could chew in the time allowed.
