  1. Bletchley used to be a training centre for NATS telecommunications staff in the 70s and I went there on a " technical appreciation " course. I'm ashamed to say I don't remember much about it as most of the time was spent in an alcoholic haze as there wasn't any sort of test at the end. I do remember that it was overheated and very difficult to stay awake after (a mostly liquid ) lunch. I hasten to add that I am older and more responsible now, I don't usually start drinking until the evening. The aeroplanes are looking good, by the way. John
  2. I think you can get away with a painted representation of the cables if you are going to close the canopy. Strange how different manufacturers have different ideas on the seat dimensions, the Tamiya seats are also wide and in 1/32 the Hasegawa (and Aires ) seats are way over scale. Cheers John
  3. Just been pointed in this direction by a comment on PC's Valiant thread. It's going to take some time to catch up, but as others have said, that compressor face is really something, and all in 1/72 scale! John
  4. I think there's one somewhere on BM. You could also try the IPMs Stockholme site which has some good stuff on interior colours. Good luck John
  5. Nice cockpit so far. I havn't seen the seat painted like that before, perhaps it was done sometimes after the seat was removed during major servicing. John
  6. There's also a discussion somewhere about the use of Dark Dull Green as a cockpit colour on US Navy aircraft, might be worth looking up. John
  7. Looking forward to this, the -5N always looks good, just that little bit different. Good luck John PS I hope that was a take-off in the above photo!
  8. It's beginning to look familiar, I lived about 8 miles ( as the Albert flies ) from Farnborough for many years and saw quite a lot of it. John
  9. Shame about the disparity in the figure scales. Airfix are pretty good at supplying multiple canopy pieces in their current kits, I always put the leftovers in my Spitfire spares box for use a masks or replacements. Keep up the good work John
  10. Considering that it's an awfully big area to cover with silver paint, I think you've done a pretty good job. John
  11. At the rate you're building I reckon you will have half a squadron finished by the end date! John
  12. If it's anything like the 1/48 version it's going to be pretty good. Looking forward to it. John
  13. It's obvious why the Hurricane's underside has a green tinge. It was operating from a grass airfield, and it was raining. Well done for trying something new. John
  14. Welcome to Britmodeller Greg, feel free to join in the build. John
  15. A very thoughtful gesture Jake, I hope you enjoy finishing the build. Best wishes John
  16. Oh dear ( or something similar ). It looks like you've succumbed to the curse of the modeller, impatience, we've all done it. I've never had much success with the Bluetack method either. When I want a slightly feathered edge I use heavy duty printer paper held slightly off the surface with a few layers of masking tape and sprayed nearly vertically onto the edges so that the paint ' creeps ' under the masking. Keep at it John
  17. I remember those wing tips well, and can see that you're certainly not giving in to them. One thing I did like about the kit is that it has the teardrop shaped bulges above the wheel wells, which were present on many post war Spitfires. Cheers John
  18. That's an interesting technique and must be quite time consuming. As it is,with the missing aeleron, you could display it as ' Found abandoned in 1946 '. Only joking, excellent work as usual. Cheers John
  19. I've not seen this scheme before either, looks like a forerunner of the " Blue Tailed Fly " Panther. Looking forward to it John
  20. It's a superb kit. Can I be the official timekeeper if it turns into a race? John
  21. Also looking forward to this. It looks like a good decal sheet, is it also available in 1/48? Cheers John
