  1. okay...after 4 hours of reading this. Humbled - check Impressed - check Keep asking what scale is this again? - check Is this a model? - check Just amazing work and a real class on how to do some different work/techniques. Thank you, foresterab
  2. Oh nice... I see Lockheed Electra's flying over the house all summer courtesy of Air Spray's tanker fleet but we don't get many RCAF birds. Looking forward to seeing this go forward as L-188 is on the list to buy/make soon. foresterab
  3. I've got some photos of a Mk IV Mosquito currently located at the Alberta Aviation Museum in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Any interest in these? Or specific shots/angles needed? It's only a couple of hours away from here so can get more in the future if needed. foresterab
  4. Well...it's a JU-52 but it's not on the eastern front... http://www.royalaviationmuseum.com/6273/last-trip-of-flying-washboard/ From what I recall the plane was used to compare lift capacity for paratroopers after the first uses by Germany in the early days of ww2. This is however a modified version of it with a single engine upgraded from the original stock versions. Flew on floats, skis and conventional wheels. Also might find this of interest...I see a few examples from the eastern front although I did not see any Russian JU-52's cited. http://www.vintagewings.ca/VintageNews/Stories/tabid/116/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/394/WTF.aspx Especially the Italian float plane . Cheers, foresterab
  5. Definitely looks like Lake Louise, Alberta and after a google check it looks like the Banff Springs Hotel. Not sure about the ski jump but might have been tied to the 1988 Calgary Olympics. Now I know what the C-130's are doing when they fly overhead...they're chasing tourists.
  6. Foxy. I'm not a ship guy but this is a model that explains more of ships and rigging than c.s.forester ever did. Can't help but follow this in amazement. Thank you for the clinic and amazing build Foresterab
  7. Better pictures then I have Jessica, My sole cockpit photo from a CF-101: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e76/millsforester/CF-101%20Vodoo/IMG_6512.jpg Pretty sure the mice got this one: Engine photos for when you get there: http://s37.photobucket.com/user/millsforester/library/CF-101%20Vodoo
  8. Thanks Martin, Still trying to figure out what angles and aspects of airplanes to take pictures of but figured I could help out with some of the Canadian versions of planes at least as I visit the different collections. Cheers for now, foresterab
  9. I was going to send these direct to thepureness but he asked me to post them here. Photos are taken from the Alberta Aviation Museum in Edmonton, Alberta and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, Ontario - all pictures are my own. http://s37.photobucket.com/user/millsforester/library/C-45 Eventually I'll get better at taking plane pictures but it's a start. Cheers, foresterab
  10. My favorite water bomber 😄 Interested to see how this kit goes together since I haven't seen any built
  11. What makes it doubly frustrating is that both Newfoundland and the nwt both used the pees and carrots scheme. There are also Buffalo cl215 in a yellow scheme but that's more boring. There's a pby Catalina scheme out there but not sure if it could be adapted or not.
  12. Hi Leonl, It's a nice kit to build but I did find it tail heavy. I think I put something like 8 pennies in mine but it wasn't enough weight. Remember most parts fitting well other than trying to fit the bottom of the bowplane/fuselage in place correctly. Cheers, foresterab
  13. Few from Canada...mind you many were bush plane outfits so not well known. I've got photos of most of these except for the Junkers which IIRC was in Quebec before being sent to England in 1939 for the RAF to compare specs on. Barkley Grow Beechcraft Model 18 (Expeditor) Fairchild FC-2 Fairchild 71 Fairchild Universal Curtiss Robin Noorduynn Norseman Junkers Tri-motor Cheers, foresterab
  14. Looking good. Still amazed at how many people love the Mars....folks in BC think that Martin Mars = extinguished fire it's so iconic there.
  15. Give my regards to the Citadel in Halifax...and the Lower Deck if you can survive . Fun times on the east coast with many a museum to see. CFB Gagetown isn't far away (8 hours I think) if you're into armour stuff as well.
  16. Nice job man. Colors look right for a working machine and the rivets are that visible in real life.
  17. Thanks homebee. I see lots of a-stars here but it's the minor engine differences I mix up. For example currently have a b2, a b3, a fx2 working in district for us and just let go a b4 and base model version. Just happy it's been released but every machine is owned by a different civilian company so tough to blame a large company for not wanting to build the kit with so many markings out there...even the larger companies I know of only have 10 or so AS350's.
  18. I think Mach2 just put out the AS350 this year. However not sure which variant it is.
  19. Saw a clip of it taxing down the river in downtown Bangkok to the navel headquarters a while back along with the boat traffic. Wish I could have seen that there Either way nice to see this built in the Thai markings sean Could always do a Saskatchewan (white with green), Alberta ( white with blue and gold trim cl215t) or Newfoundland (green with orange) as alternatives to the yellow schemes. I can't remember what Yugoslavia and Malaysia used though
  20. CL-215T Convair 580 (two of them) Eurocopter AS350B2 Missed the 212's taking off. Forest fire 40 km to the west so last 6 hours have been water bombers orbiting over town reloading. Sad news is we just lost a pilot on a different fire Friday - Air Tractor 802 crashed killing the pilot on board.
  21. Glad your nephew was okay. A recently retired client of mine and his wife were not so lucky and are still missing Good news is all the Nepalese I know came through safely and their families even though much damage occurred. Glad to see this build continue. Will be watching to see how the decals come out so I can learn more about applying custom decals
  22. Nice bird....really like the subtle changes in colour on the exhaust. I never hear much about the RCAF and P-51's mind you most of the RCAF folks I know were with bomber command and/or in the 1990's RCAF.
  23. Oh nice. The miku kit was limited produced a long time ago but have wanted one of these since day one getting back into the hobby Now to wait to find out if it's the base model or the b2 or b3 version
  24. Stevehnz, thanks for the tip. I scrapped the paint back and found it was a bunch of filler putty on that edge which would help explain why it was so tough to bond with the frame. Broke out the crazy glue and all is back in order. So here's where I'm at with all the bits attached and ready for decals: So now onto the decals...(I hope).
  25. So yeah...another week goes by... Paint has been done and I was just about to start posting photos when I realized something quite embarrassing....I hadn't put the landing gear on yet. Been so fixated on the paint scheme and making the decals that I completely forgot about the landing gear until I went to put the Pledge/Klear on the bottom. Oops... So all the gear is on and the bay doors have been attached...which raises a serious question. How do you manage to hold bay doors on after the build? I've knocked one off 3 times already and bumped a few others thankfully before the glue set 100% which seems to have recovered. Fat fingers are part of the problem but I feel like I'm missing something if anyone has any ideas?
