  1. Some nice builds Wafu. Thanks for taking the time to post them. Your iphone takes a good photo.
  2. I've seen some photos of the show, but no mention of the Tomcat. They were on The Tamiya blog
  3. Thank you louiex2 & Black Knight, both of those are well worth thinking about. I liked the idea of the Tamiya studio, but I wondered what the quality was like. But both of your ideas won't break the bank. Thanks again.
  4. Thank you Colin. I will have a look on ebay.
  5. Hi, I'm looking for some advice about the Tamiya photo booth. I like the idea that it's portable, but is it worth the money. Thank you for your help.
  6. I thought their 1/48th scale Motorcycle and Sidecar was a little gem.
  7. Hello Robert, I recall earlier in the year when the subject of a Tomcat originated on Scalemates that you thought Tamiya might announce it at their Fair. Let's hope your right. Meanwhile, the Gama Goat sounds interesting.
  8. I saw a video on edohsama.blogspot.co.uk showing the latest scale model news from the All Japan model and Hobby Show 2014. No mention of a F14 Tomcat. They showed the F4U-1A Corsair in 1/32nd, the Toyota Phaeton and Jagdpanzer IV in 1/35th, also a Dingo Armoured Scout Car in 1/48th and a few more. Let's hope they didn't want to take the spot light off these new releases and will announce one later in the year.
  9. Good lord! Seeing all those Tomcats reminded me, I have one of those in my loft. If I recall, it had a small etched set. I never started it & forgot all about it. I'm not even sure which one it was, but I think it was the Sundowners markings.
  10. I think your right Robert. If the rumours are true, that's when it will be announced. The next 1/32nd scale Corsair will also be on display I would have thought. More expense! I know what I want Santa to bring me.
  11. If Scalemate are correct with their information, it would point to a new Tamiya mould and not a Italeri mould. Tamiya 1/48 scale kits start with a 61 number. When they use other companies moulds the number starts with a 37 or 89. The last new 1/48th kit from Tamiya was the IL-2 Shturmovik 61113. The rumoured Tomcat is 61114. With most WW11 subjects covered, I believe Tamiya will produce more jets in this scale. The Tomcat is an icon and I'm convinced this is the next release from Tamiya. It won't be cheap, quality never is. But it will be a superb kit.
  12. Hi Will, I think the colour looks spot on. I used the mix of Tamiya paints when I built their Tiran 5 tank. That worked out fine, and going by your build, it looks as if the suggested mix is correct. I'm waiting for the kit (arriving in the shops soon hope). In the mean time, I've viewed the plans on line, so know what paint colours and ratios are used. Your model looks very good, and I'm looking forward to the finished article. Thanks for sharing. If you google '4th and 7th Royal Tank Regiment 1916 1918' you might find something of interest as there are a few photos of the period.
  13. I've just purchased a New Vanguard book (Osprey publishing 133) on the British Mark IV Tank written by David Fletcher. In this book, the camouflage is described as a medium brown, which looks a good match to the Brussels tank. I also got a book called Beyond the Green Fields. The final memories of some of the first men of the Tank Corps by Richard Pullen.
  14. I find the Tamiya thin cement very much like Tenax 7R. I've not been able to get hold of that for years now. The problem with Tenax was the bottle, I had to take care I didn't knock it over as it was tall and thin. Well over 20 years ago, Tamiya produced a liquid cement very much like their extra thin cement. It smelt of pear drops. Tamiya took it off the market very quickly in case of bad press. That was a good adhesive too.
  15. Thank you, It's hard to believe they could stop the shows. There is always a queue to get in on both the October and February shows. Airfix have a stand showing off their upcoming releases. The museum shop does well I would have thought on both events. The competition makes money when people enter models, and the Swordfish cafe is busy all day. Anyway, after your post, I now know why I'm always handed the camera.
  16. It was always busy when ever I dropped by. It must have made money, but not enough for the bean counters. £10000 for the building, but the buyer must remove it. Is that a romour about the FAA Model shows, or a possibility?
  17. At one time the Merlin in 814NAS (painted in tiger stripe scheme),also had tiger stripe seat cushions as well. I'd did have photos of them that I took. If I can find them,I will try to put them on here.
  18. ordered one too only to get email cancelling my order. This is the second time Amazon have done this, there will not be a third.I will stick to more reliable sites from now on
  19. health and safety I expect like everything else now in this country
  20. I go to Cornwall three or four times a year to see my son at Culdrose. I'll will have to try and stop by for a visit. Thanks for the info.
