  1. I think Tamiya see this as a big selling kit. I believe their new 1/48th Spitfire has sold very well being unavailable both at Hannants & Wonderland Models. I think this new 1/72 Spitfire will also be a big selling kit.
  2. I think it could be the same squadrons as depicted in the Tamiya 1/48th Spitfire Mk1 released last year.
  3. I saw this on scalemates today. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-supermarine-spitfire-mki--1200468
  4. 1963 (aged eight) was the year I was introduced into scale modelling. I know it was that year because I was at a school fete with my family. My parents had entered us into the fancy dress competition. I was dressed as Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, and my sister was dressed as the first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova who had just returned from her mission. But it's not that that I remember so well, it was what my parents bought me at one of the stalls. Amongst the bric a brac there were three plastic models. I'm absolutely sure one was a B-47. One might have been a X-3 Stiletto, the third I'm at a loss, all I know is that it was a jet of some description. These were assembled, unpainted and without markings. I've looked on Scalemates since to see if I could identify the manufacturers. The B-47 could have been made by Revell, Aurora, or possibly Frog. The X-3 Stiletto could have been a Revell kit. I will never know for sure. I remember all this so well because that was moment in time that got me started in my life long interest in scale modelling.
  5. Thank you Dave. Yes, the year is 1955. It's been a while since I posted anything. I think I used Imgur last time. I'll put my thinking cap on so I can recall how to use it. 🤔 Thanks again, Joe.
  6. Hello Rabbit Leader. Would it be possible to join your Group Build please. My build rate has been appalling over the last couple of years. The last model I made was over two years ago. Hopefully this will get me motivated to finish a model this year! If I could join I would like to build a Folland Gnat. I've two connections with this this aircraft type. Firstly, It first flew in the year I was born (although the markings would be from the 60s or later), and secondly, I've worked at the site for many years where the Gnat was built. I see a Gnat every day I go to work as we have one as a gate guardian. Thank you, Joe.
  7. For anyone who has not heard of it, there is an excellent podcast called On The Bench. It's a podcast for scale modellers. Back in June this year the General Manager of Wingnut Wings, Richard Alexander was on the show. It was Episode 27 for anyone interested. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/otb-episode-27-podcast-about-scale-model-building/id1262869310?i=1000414450000&mt=2
  8. Thanks Jaime, I post one this week. Thank you John. The rocket was a nice way to relax while visiting my son. Thank you John, yes, the rigging is going to be the hardest part. I've not did ne much, so I'm hoping it turns out ok. Thank you Pat, I think you will be able to see a good part if the detail with the three openings. Hello Ced, thank you. 🙂
  9. Thank you Ced. Many thanks Jaime. Cheers, Joe. Thank you Killisti. Just had a quick look at your build. Nice idea about the life raft. Sorry there have have been no updates. As some of you might know, I was in Cornwall visiting my son and grandchildren. I intended to carry on weathering the sections of my Walrus after I'd finished playing with my Lego, when my dog Max hurt his leg. I took him to a first class vet in Helston, who diagnosed that Max had damaged his ligament in his rear leg. He is still not right, and I'm seeing my vet Monday now I'm back home. The result was, there was no way I could concentrate on anything other than worrying about my dog. He's a lot happier now we are back home. I don't think he likes the 250 mile drive anymore than I do. He's still walking on three legs, but is managing better now. I will carry on next week and post a few pictures then. Thanks for looking, Joe.
  10. Welcome Killisti, great idea about the life raft.
  11. Love that percision jig. Like most good ideas, it's simple, but works just fine.
  12. Very nice. Looks very good in that colour scheme.
  13. I've weathered the horizontal stabiliser with the same wash, but tried cleaning it off with a different approach. I've still been a little heavy handed in some areas. I think I will weather the other main sections, tape them together and see how the finished hull might look then, If it's still a bit over the top, I might go for the Argentinian scheme instead. There are some areas that I need to cleaned off a bit more I've noticed. But I'll carry on with the other sections at the moment. Thanks for looking, Joe.
  14. All done Jaime, I really enjoyed building it. There are a couple of photos below, and a link to the Lego shop. And the link to the Lego site https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/LEGO-NASA-Apollo-Saturn-V-21309 Back to the Walrus now starting tomorrow.
  15. Hello Jaime, sure thing. The set comes in 12 numbered bags. I've got 2 bags left to finish it. Meanwhile, the photo below is the combination of the first 10. 😀
  16. Thank you Jbbusybee, hope I don't disappoint. Hi Jaime, I'll weather a few more bits to give me more of an idea. Thank you Johnny, with the Lego Saturn V almost finished (1969 pieces no painting or decals required), I'll get back to the Walrus.
