  1. Nice subtle weathering. Great looking Spitfire.
  2. Tamiyablog link with photos of JGSD Light Armoured Vehicle and Hummel. https://tamiyablog.com/2019/05/more-detail-photos-of-new-tamiya-1-35-japan-ground-self-defence-force-light-armored-vehicle-1-35-german-heavy-self-propelled-howitzer-hummel-late-type-from-the-58th-shizuoka-hobby-show/
  3. My wife found this on Facebook. Sorry about the quality. The top left could be a nose section of the Lancaster that I believe WnW could be releasing as a nose only section of the model.
  4. I'm not on Facebook, but I noticed this news about Wingnut Wings.
  5. Hyperscale have uploaded a video from the show. Also, some photos of static models on the Tamiya Blog https://tamiyablog.com/2019/05/some-tamiya-static-mini-4wd-model-releases-shown-at-the-58th-shizuoka-hobby-show-2019/
  6. I found a couple of photos of the new Tamiya Achilles which is listed to be on show at Shizuoka.
  7. Hello Dennis, you have nothing to apologise for. I didn't even notice. So please don't worry. I found it very interesting and informative that the Royal Navy flew the Wildcats in USN colours before being repainted. Thank you, and please don't think I was in away offended. Regards, Joe.
  8. That's interesting, I never knew that. I can see why you took a double take. The unpainted model looks like a USN pale grey finish.
  9. Sometimes (and I'm sure I'm not the only one), my choice of model was influenced by a Commando book or a war film. I would buy a kit, and build it as soon as I got home from Woolworths. They were just glued together, no painting whatsoever. I would put the decals on, and that would be it, finished and ready for flight! I didn't care about if it was accurate or not, I just had fun making it. I made a model exactly the same a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. As a kid, I remember reading the book above. I knew what kit I intended to get the following Saturday! It was the Airfix Wildcat so I could reenact the action! The above model is the new Airfix Wildcat that I made one Saturday afternoon a couple of years back. Just the way I did in the 1960s. I didn't get bogged down with details, correct paint colours or harness, I just slapped it together in a couple of hours.
  10. Yes please Paul. I'm undecided on which kit at the moment. I'll let you know at a later date if that's ok please? I'm looking through my Seventh edition, Airfix catalogue and can't make my mind up! Thank you, Joe. What a great kit that was! Being a Series 5 kit, this was reserved for big occasions like Christmas, or my birthday. If I recall correctly, this model had retractable undercarriage, revolving gun turrets, movable control surfaces, and I think the control panel was printed on the instruction sheet. This could be cut out and glued on the instrument panel. Joe.
  11. What a great idea for a Group Build. Very well timed with some Airfix Vintage Classics being released at the moment. These include, armour, ships and aircraft.
  12. That looks very good. I like the tracks and the figures.
  13. This is the link to Hobby Search who also have a list of items at the Shizuoka Show. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/search?typ1_c=102&cat=plamo&target=tag&searchkey=shizuoka+hobby+show+2019&spage=1
  14. I do hope your right. What a surprise that would be at the show. This is the Tamiya 1/72nd scale Corsair with the wings clipped to represent a Fleet Air Arm machine I made a while ago.
  15. I believe Tamiya are releasing a 1/35th German Hummel late type around July. A 1/48th Hummel version could be in the pipeline following in the footsteps of their JGSDF Type 16 MCV, and Sherman Easy Eight. There's nothing short listed yet, but It's possible that a new 1/48th MM model could be announced at the Shizuoka Hobby Show in May.
  16. The German Hummel wasn't mentioned in the sneak peak from HLJ, but they do update as more news becomes available. If it's anything like the Nashorn, I will definitely be getting one of those. I wonder if Tamiya will have an aviation subject to surprise us with? Personally, I'd like to see a FAA 1/32nd Corsair.
  17. Sneak peek on HobbyLink Japan. https://hlj.com/shizuoka-hobby-show-2019-sneak-peek?utm_source=HobbyLink+Japan+Newsletter&utm_campaign=eea1a4021a-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_04_11_12_42&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_baa74bea0a-eea1a4021a-226432813&mc_cid=eea1a4021a&mc_eid=70abddeb36
  18. The 58th Shizuoka Hobby Show is due to take place next month. It's open to the public on the 11th and 12th May (8th is Student Day, 9th & 10th are Trade Days) Has anyone heard any rumours or speculation about possible announcements? Hopefully, as this is Wingnut Wings 10th Anniversary, there will be a bit more information regarding the Handley Page 0/400, and the Avro Lancasters which are due for release later this year. Examples of the two new Gothas, which appear on Wingnut Wings Featured Releases are also due for release during April/May and could also be on show to the public. There are lots of other manufacturers attending including, Airfix, Aoshima, Dragon, FineMolds, Hasegawa, Italeri, MiniArt, Tamiya and Zoukei Mura to name a few. Below is a link to last years show should anyone wish to refresh their memory or for anyone who did not see any photos of the manufacturers stands. https://www.themodellingnews.com/2018/05/tmn-on-tour-japans-biggest-hobby-show.html
  19. I understand next month will be Wingnut Wings 10th Anniversary. To mark the occasion, two new kits have been announced on their website. These can be Pre-Ordered and should be available from late April or early May according to the website. http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/product?productid=3198 http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/product?productid=3199 I wonder if they will also use the anniversary as an opportunity to release a bit more information about the Handley Page 0/400 and Avro Lancasters. Maybe box art, or colour schemes.
  20. Very neat looking Tiger Moth. Nice colour scheme. Joe
  21. Thank you Dave, that would explain why no more information could be found. I apologise for the mistake to everyone.
  22. This is the Tamiya Spitfire Mk.1 released back in 2000. If memory serves me right, I made this model a couple of years after it was released. It's coming up for 20 years old now. I understand it has shape issues, but I think it still builds up to a very nice model. At the time of me of me posting this, the new Spitfire Mk.1 is still only a rumour.
  23. I think a T55 would be an excellent choice. How could I have forgotten such an iconic tank!
  24. My three guesses are as follows. M26 Armoured Tank Recovery Vehicle. U.S. Self-Propelled 155mm Gun M40 German Self-Propelled Heavy Anti-Tank Gun Nashorn. Out of the above three, I think the Nashorn is favourite.
  25. There's certainly been a lot of interest in this post. The only information I can deem is from the original post. I'd be curious to know how scalemates got wind of it. But if I recall correctly, they were quick off the mark regarding the release of the Tamiya 1/48th Spitfire MK.1 last year. If a new 1/72nd Spitfire from Tamiya does materialize, I hope the box art is as good as the box art on the forthcoming 1/72nd Messerschmitt. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-60790-messerschmitt-bf109-g-6--1188999
