      Hello Rob.

I've also just returned to modelling after a couple of years. Hopefully you and I will get back in to it.

      Regards, Joe.

  2. I have hit a lull... why!.... I was doing so well!

i have a number of builds very near completion but cant find the drive... I just stood in the garage with a can of white primer and a wild cat kit all laid out but just didn't want to spray!? Odd.

i currently have far too much in my head at the moment but unfortunately no real way of clearing it any time soon... even with modelling, which is my normal go to.

    this sucks

Hi Rob, we all suffer from this from time to time. It's all the other stuff going round in your head so you can't concentrate. Something's you can deal with yourself, they are things like replacing a tap, they need to be put right, but you know it's going to be a problem doing it, so you put it off. Your brain knows this, so keeps reminding you. It's best to just get this off your back, and get it done. I put things like this off for weeks, but feel so much better when I've done it. It's one thing less to worry about.

Other things are far more serious, like a loved one being very sick. You can do very little other than offer your support and help where you can. You still worry, but it's a different type of concern.

It's when your brain is overloaded that you can't concentrate on the things you enjoy doing. This is why I find modelling important. It's important to me because it's not important if you know what I mean. In these cases, it's just to much trouble to even do simple tasks. Sometimes, I just build a model with no painting like I showed you with that Martlet a couple of weeks back. What we tend to do is just start a new model thinking you will be more interested in a new build. But before you know it, you've come to a halt on that project as well.

When I'm like this, I listen to talking books, or plays on the radio. I find sitting there doing my model whilst listening to a story, a play or a comedy Radio 4 extra helps me relax. Hope this helps, Joe.

  3. A Vote! What to build!

I know now I have unfinished work I should really just finish, but my head is not in that place right now.... so here are some options for a quick build.

    - airfix spitfire mk XXII (race scheme as I like it more than the silver)

    - airfix dauntless

    - hase p-38

    - airfix mustang p-51d (RAF option off the med fighters sheet)

    - academy p-40, (either with the tiger on or cresswell's AC)

    the choice is yyyyyyyoooouuuuurrrss....

In that case Rob, I would vote for the Spitfire.

Hello Rob, I would go for the easiest option. I've not been able to concentrate lately and decided to go back to basics. I made a model like I did 50 years ago. No painting, just stuck it together and applied the decals.

That was only about the second model I finished last year, but I did enjoy it. This is it, I've just noticed, the roundel has fallen off the fuselage.
