  1. Stallions in Italy (PV-006-72/48) test prints are done. I always find something what could be done better, so there will be some modifications in the final layout. There will be two sheets of decals in every envelope (1/48 and 1/72). One with all black stuff, and the other with colorful decals. Thanks to many people who helped me with this project. Enjoy
  2. Hello dear friends, The time has come for a short retrospective. First I would like to thank everyone for their support. I appreciate not only every customer, but also every message or advice. There hasn't been much time to work on new sets lately, but I'm moving forward. I have enjoyed working and researching each of these sets, but the "First responders" is still my favorite set. Working on that set, I met an incredible amount of dear people and interesting stories. "Dirty Danes" is still the best selling set. The second edition is already half sold out. The Syrians and Harriers are also almost sold out and I'm thinking of doing a smaller reprint. Mustangs are coming soon. Work on set number 7 has already begun. I got all the information and photos, it just needs to be drawn and prepared. At the current rate, it would be finished by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. I don't want to reveal what it is about yet, but I chose it because of the many messages and requests. There will be two very interesting planes in that set. This brings us to set number 8. I have a general idea of exactly what it might be, but it's still up for debate. Feel free to comment or advise. I wish everyone a lot of beautiful model builds... paulusvictor.com
  3. Hello this is cover art made for the PaulusVictor "Break of Dawn" decal set. Enjoy and wish You all the best. http://paulusvictor.com/
  4. After some time, here is the announcement of the new set. This time, PaulusVictor deviated a little from the path of somewhat more modern subjects and returned to the time of the Second World War. First of all, I have to thank Marko Jeras and Martin Kyburz who greatly contributed with information and photos without which this set would not have been possible. Thanks also go to Pierpaolo Maglio who also helped with consulting and advice. The set will include 5 P-51D Mustangs with very interesting and unusual stories. Although some subjects from this set are already present in other sets or even model boxes, this set will still bring a lot of new, previously unpublished information and photos and a slightly different approach to the subject. The P-51 is a very complex topic, so it is not possible to include everything useful. The announcement of this set is perhaps a little hasty because there is still a lot of work to do. The project turned out to be very complex. The set will also include stencils, so it could replace any set from the box or complete a model without markings. More info in the future.
  5. PaulusVictor replied to e-mail At one time I interviewed a couple of people who were literally there on the spot during this event, we went through everything from start to finish. I want to put that set in 1/72 and 1/48 for a long time now. Maybe one day...
  6. You must be wondering why on Earth these two strangely painted MiG-29s deserve so much attention and a separate decal set. The story behind them, although old, is still very active today. Like any story, this one isn't always pretty, and since this is a story about two planes, I won't mention the people who were part of the story. Back in 1991, representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada approached the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine with a proposal to conduct an air tour to various cities of North America during 1992. The idea to invite the pilots of the independent Ukrainian air force to the air show belonged to aviation enthusiasts - leaders of the Ukrainian flying club in Canada. Since that was a significant financial expense, sponsors and donations were required because the Ukrainian aero club alone could not financially ensure the participation of military aviation from Ukraine. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine welcomed the idea of this air tour, the purpose of which was to promote independent Ukraine. Agreements were reached with the ministries of defence of the United States of America and Canada on the permission to fly Ukrainian military aircraft over the territory of those countries. The Canadian side was obliged to organize full support for the stay of the Ukrainian delegation in North America. It was decided that Ukraine will be represented in the skies of North America by fighter pilots in two MiG-29 aircraft, the MiG-29 9-13 and the MiG-29UB. The technical characteristics of this aircraft made it possible to perform a lot of aerobatics, which could only be repeated by a limited number of types of foreign aircraft. Their display at an air show would immediately draw attention. Specialists of the Lviv Aircraft Repair Plant in a short period of time developed a version of the appearance of the aircraft. There was only one condition: everyone who sees the plane in the air or on the ground must understand that it is a winged combat vehicle of independent Ukraine. And for the first time, the small coat of arms of Ukraine โ€“ the Trident, was depicted on the MiG-29. Since then, a trident has been preserved as an identification mark of the Air Force of Ukraine to this day, only now the trident is depicted on the shield, and not inscribed in a circle. The name "Tridents" for this group came about after the London, Ontario show, when an aviation magazine titled their article "Tridents on Tour'', so the team received an unofficial temporary name of "Ukrainian Tridents'' Interesting fact: in the first approved version for this team, it was planned to depict a sign in the form of a swallow, like the one depicted on civil aviation aircraft. After several weeks of special training, the designated team, together with two partially disassembled MiG-29 aircraft, flew to Canada aboard the big Antonov from the Stryi airfield. They landed near the city of Edmonton in Canada where they were supposed to make their first performances. The preparation of aircraft for departure by technical personnel of ten servicemen was carried out in two days. During their stay on the territory of North America, Ukrainian pilots conducted more than 30 performances with practical flights, the total flight was 103 hours, 207 flights were made on MiG-29 and MiG-29UB aircraft. In Canada: Edmonton, Windsor, Chatman, London, Abbotsford, Trenton, Alberta and in the USA: Oklahoma City (Oklahoma), St. Louis (Missouri), Scranton (Pennsylvania), Rockford (Illinois), Minot (Northern Dakota), Spokane (Washington), Columbus (Ohio), Lincoln (Nebraska), Salt Lake City (Utah), Mojave (California). To cover the very high costs of the flight of Ukrainian fighter planes, as well as the staff's stay, a company was established that collected donations and payments. Unfortunately, the company was closed, and the money collected was stolen, so Ukrainian personnel decided to end the tour earlier, and since they didn't have money to go home, the Canadian government donated the fuel for the big Antonov. Instead of staying on the base or hotels the Ukrainians stayed with Ukrainian families in Edmonton. The team had to end the tour fending for themselves. In the future, the fate of the two MiG-29s diverged. MiG-29 No. 01 was returned to the 114th IAP. In 1995, this MiG became one of the aircraft of the Ukrainian Falcons aerobatic team, where it received tail number 101. It repeatedly performed from 1996 to 2000, with one accident. After the disbandment of the Falcons, it was sent for storage to the Kirovskoye airfield. In May 2014, all fighters from Kirovskoye, including board number 101, were transported by trucks to the Kulbakino airfield, where they were included in the 204 BrTA. The aircraft was in storage for two years, waiting in line for repairs. In 2016, board No. 101 was sent for repairs to Lviv, where it received a โ€œpixelโ€ camouflage, and on October 14, 2017, it went to serve in the 40th brigade (Vasilkov) with a new tail number No. 06. It was probably still active during early 2020s. MiG-29UB "02" remained in Ivano-Frankivsk and became the "workhorse" of the 114th Aviation Regiment, and then the 114th Tactical Aviation Brigade. In 2003, this UB underwent a major overhaul in Lvov, where it received a standard green-grey camouflage. In 2007, the aircraft was again sent to the Lvov plant, where, after repairs, it was painted in the standard grey-blue camouflage. The machine took part in various aviation exercises. It's fate today is unknown. It was impossible to find information on the exact date when or how this happened, but both options are in this set, so choose the appropriate one. Use reference photos and literature. Be careful and choose the correct version of the kit for your MiG-29. Some model kits have these markings in their boxes with the wrong variants. Also, there are many inaccurate drawings. Do not put drop tanks, weapons or any kind of weapon pylons on your kit. These MiGs were transported with Antonov heavy transport plane, and were in clean configuration during this time. Do not use any stencils on this MiG-29 paulusvictor.com
  7. Hello Everyone... here is something new from PaulusVictor BREAK OF DAWN - Early days of Ukrainian Jet fighters on display Since the beginning of this War between Russia and Ukraine Iโ€™ve been getting a bunch of emails and photos with suggestions of subjects for new sets, however from the beginning I decided that I would never do anything related to this Conflict - neither Ukrainian nor Russian. However, several interesting subjects unrelated to the Conflict have emerged. Subjects from another time when it seemed that some things would go differently. Subjects from the time of hope for a bright future. Although they look simple, these subjects are not really for the novice modelers. Painting and application of decals require a lot of attention and masking, especially in the case of the su-27 which hides a few tricky steps in making and painting. I will explain in future posts. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—จ๐—ธ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜๐˜€ After the world witnessed the emergence of an independent state of Ukraine, the people in North America generally considered everything east of the Iron curtain to be strange and unfamiliar. The idea to invite the pilots of the Air Force of Independent Ukraine to participate in the air shows belonged to aviation fans โ€“ the leaders of the Ukrainian Flying Club in Canada Mikhail Bien and Taras Tatarin. They proposed to the national government of Ukraine a plan to advertise themselves and show the world how an independent countryโ€™s air force performs. A tour to Canada and across the United States was proposed, to which the Ukrainians agreed, and in 1992. the Ukrainian Air Force received an official invitation to a series of air shows where they were to be represented by a MiG-29 fighter jet. The MiG-29 was chosen because it could perform various tricks and acrobatics which the other planes at the air show could not and due to this nature of the plane it would naturally draw the crowdโ€™s attention to it. During the evening of May 8, 1992, a giant An-124 transport plane bearing the flag of Ukraine landed at Canadian Forces Base Namao. Inside the aircraft were two disassembled MiG-29 fighter jets. The MiGs had only recently been re-painted in Lviv in blue and yellow colours with a trident insignia on their tails. The two MiGs were reassembled in record time over the next two days as the ground crews worked until 2 or 3 AM to finish a job that normally takes four days. After engine tests and flight maneuvers, the aircraft were ready. This was the start of a three-month tour of air shows in Canada and the U.S. for the Ukrainian MiGs. This is a shorter version of a somewhat more complex story that I will try to tell in some future posts ๐—จ๐—ธ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฆ๐˜‚-๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿณ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ฅ๐—œ๐—”๐—ง ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿต๐Ÿต๐Ÿฒ During 1996, it was decided that two aircraft were going to travel to Fairford, one being the Su-27, with bort number 48. This Su-27 would participate in an aerial display. The second aircraft was another SU-27, with bort number 57, this aircraft would be part of the static display on the ground. When it came to camouflage, #48 and #57 were different from the rest of their Ukrainian counterparts. Standard service Su-27s in Ukraine were painted in the Splinter camo, first introduced on Su-27a #36 in 1996 โ€“ and subsequently repainted onto every Su-27. However, for the purposes of RIAT and their exhibition, #48 and #57 got their own special painting, which included yellow and blue stripes on the aircraft. 8. McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II 163662 VMA-231 Ace of Spades, CG-01, Desert Storm 1991. Apologies if I neglected this set a bit. The Danes took a lot of my time and energy lol. AV-8B Harrier II 163662 โ€˜Shank 01โ€™ is probably the most famous Harrier II from Operation Desert Storm because of the paintedโ€˜ sharksmouthโ€™ on the nose. Initially, I didn't want to put this plane on this set because you can find it in many other sets and kit boxings, but already during the first drafts, everyone who saw the list of subjects asked "What, no VMA-231 sharkmouth? What could I do then lol... VMA-231 started preparations to move to the Middle East in late November 1990. They departed Japan on 8 December and went east over Wake Island and Hawaii to MCASs Yuma and Cherry Point. They flew 18,000 miles east from Japan to Saudi Arabia over the United States and Europe due to the available logistics on that route. VMA-231 set a record for fleet Harrier squadrons by occurring 904 flight hours in only one month. Like other Harrier II units, during operation Desert storm VMA-231 relied on three basic loads for their jets โ€“ six Mk 82s most of the time, then four Mk 83s and six Mk 20 Rockeye IIs, but there were some other variations too. During The Gulf War, VMA-231 used one of the most beautifully improvised camouflage schemes ever applied on Harriers. Since VMA-231 was based in Japan they camouflaged their AV-8Bโ€™s with ghost gray colors using paint acquired from the F/A-18 Hornet squadrons. Having painted the aircraft light ghost gray (FS 36320) overall, they then took another can of ghost gray and mixed in a small amount of black paint to make a darker shade. This was sprayed over sections of the jet to create a light gray/darker gray camouflage scheme. There was a lot of discussion about the correct FS shade of darker gray, but the best way to go is to mix it. Use light ghost gray or dark ghost gray color and add some black or FS 36320 gray. The darker gray color tone was slightly different from one aircraft to another. The basic camouflage pattern was almost the same as the original dark gray/green pattern with variations. The intakes were painted gloss white. PaulusVictor Desert Harriers set gives you options to build almost any VMA-231 Harrier II from the Desert Storm period, including green/gray scheme before the war. 9. Hello everyone. Thank you all for your support. Dirty Danes set was sold out and new batch is coming soon. This time this set will be available in several Hobby Shops. I will make the list when and where available. As I already made a guide for the Danish Drakens (you can find it in earlier posts), here are some instructions for the F-100 Super Sabre. Correct versions used by RDAF were F-100D (single-seater) and F-100F, also known as TF-100F (two-seater). They entered service as fighter-bombers and replaced the aging F-84s. They arrived in batches during 1959 and 61. ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ง๐—˜: First, after you buy the model and decide to assemble it, don't just open the box and put everything together without at least reading the instructions that come with the decals. There are a few details that are specific to the Danish F-100s and they depend on the period. ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ง๐—˜: The first step in choosing a subject is to try to find as many photos of a particular plane in as narrow a time period as possible. Over the years a lot of modifications were carried out during Super Sabres service life. You will find a lot of photos of the same aircraft with different details. So here is the short list what to do check: - FIRST, PLEASE check the nose shape of your kit. For some reason, most of the F-100 kits have some nose shape issues. A serious ones. - F-100โ€™s were delivered to Denmark with refueling probes, but the probes were removed during 1959. Do not use it on your model kit. - RDAF F-100s were introduced into service in NMF / metallic or gray paint finish. RDAF began to paint its aircraft in the standard colour known as SM/67, olive green (matt), during late the 1960โ€™s. Even though it is finished in just one color, the paint faded quite rapidly and unfortunately gave the aircraft an untidy appearance. After some time in service, the paint was usually touched up at regular inspection periods. After some time the weathering effects and consistent โ€˜touch upsโ€™ on the paint inadvertently resulted in a unique camouflage pattern. The weak matt paint durability problem was solved during the late 1970โ€™s when aircraft were re-painted in an extremely gloss variant of the same colour. On the F-100โ€™s, the area around the engine tended to change and lose colour over time due to the internal heat. It was painted just like the rest of the aircraft, but soon faded and melted away to show bare metal titanium. The fuselage โ€˜burnโ€™ was present no matter how well the aircraft was painted. - RDAF used different ejection seats. They replaced the original F-100 ejection seat with a Martin Baker Mk. DE-5. This was not a standard MK.5 ejection seat, so it is not easy to find the correct replacement for your kit. Use your reference materials for more information. - Check photos for the antenna arrangement. - Make sure you check if you need to modify the wing from the original configuration. ECM on the wingtip came during 1975, wing anti-skid walkway was introduced in 1978, wing stall fences were removed during 1978-1979. Slat-stop, outer part of slats were dismantled after 1979. - Some RDAF F-100โ€™s introduced F-102 style afterburner during 1978-1979. In the latter half of the 70โ€™s it was believed that several engine failures were due to excessive wear on the original type afterburner. The solution was to replace the original afterburner with one from the F-102. ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ธ ๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฎ ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐—ท๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜ and model kit: NOSE SHAPE, NEW EJECTION SEAT, antenna layout, wing tips, colour type (matt or gloss), wing anti-skid walkway (if any), wing stall fences (if removed), afterburner type, slat-stop - outer part of slats (if dismantled) DONT USE: refueling probe, original F-100 ejection seat Feel free to comment if there is a mistake or similar, I will update this text then. Also, feel free to discuss or make some recommendarions which kit for what... Take care and enjoy. http://paulusvictor.com/
  10. Hello everyone. In this post, I am sharing several interesting reference videos for Gulf War AV-8Bs. I have talked to many people about almost every detail that appears on the Harriers in these videos. We were unable to fully identify some planes, but these videos helped a lot in my Desert Harriers project. Feel free to add some more reference materials in this topic if available. 11. Hello dear friends. Break of Dawn (PV-005-72/48) test prints are done. I still want to work on some details, but this is it. This set will be ready somewhere during late April. I will give you more data when ready... Thanks to many good people who helped me with this project. Enjoy http://paulusvictor.com/
  12. Hello everyone, Dirty Danes decal set is almost completely sold out and I decided to make a reprint. I would ask anyone who has seen the set to advise if there is any problem or omission that could be corrected or refined. I would not introduce new subjects or add decals, just possibly do some minor intervention on the instructions or decals if necessary. I can also send some hi res photos if you want to check out something, but some photos of this set are available on the website paulusvictor.com/ Thank you
  13. Hello everyone Here is something new from PaulusVictor in 1/72 and 1/48 scale. I thought for a long time whether to do anything at all related to this current conflict between Ukraine and Russia, but I decided not to. I turned to brighter topics from a different time of hope. BREAK OF DAWN - Early days of Ukrainian Jet fighters on display This future decal set will be based on two stories. One story is about two Ukrainian MiG-29s that toured North America in 1992. They came disassembled in a large Antonov to Canada where they were assembled. After that, they visited many Air shows in Canada and the USA. Another story is about two Su-27s that flew at the famous Royal International Air Tattoo Airshow in 1996. I don't have an exact release date, but this will be available somewhere next year, probably during spring. As always this will be a very limited edition. Wish you all happy modelling. http://paulusvictor.com
  14. Hello this is cover art made for the "Dirty Danes" set. Combination of Vectors and Photoshop drawing, and with Photoshop for the final editing. Also available as unique NFT on Foundation if anybody collecting stuff like that. If you have Dirty Dane kit finished with PaulusVictor decal set, post some photos and you will get printable Hi-Res poster file as a gift. Enjoy and wish You all the best.
  15. Hello everyone. First, thank you all for the numerous orders, emails and messages. Dirty Danes set is almost sold out and I am thinking whether or not I should print a new round... I will see. On the other hand, I see that many have already started work on making new models of Danish planes, but I also see that Draken is causing the most problems. There were a lot of messages and questions about the correct kit version. If you want to make a completely accurate variant of the Draken, you need to spend some time researching. Here is a small guide, I hope that this could help. If you don't take the accuracy of your kit seriously, just move on and skip this text. The Danish Draken is a very complicated subject from a modeling point of view. There are several variants that have been modernized over time with smaller interventions, but also, there was one large modernization. ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ง๐—˜: The first step in choosing a subject is to try to find as many photos of a particular plane in as narrow a time period as possible. There is no need to buy a first available model kit and a bunch of accessories before studying the photos of the desired subject. RDAF Draken is basically a Saab 35XD, an export fighter bomber version of the Saab 35F. At first this new version was called the 35X, but after it had been adapted to meet the Danish specifications, it became designated by SAAB as the A35XD (Attack aircraft type 35, Danish Export version). But you will hardly find a kit box containing the XD variant. The reason for that is that three basic variants of the Saab 35XD were produced. The Danish Air Force itself chose to use the designation F-35 for a single-seat attack version. The reconnaissance version S35XD became RF-35 and the two-seater Sk35XD became the TF-35 in Danish service. The Saab 35XD was heavily modified to make it into a fighter bomber aircraft. Based on the J35F fighter airframe on the outside there was absolutely no change other than smaller details (such as antennas), but the inside was different. The internal structure was stronger. Wings were upgraded to carry higher loads. ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ง๐—˜: Use different weapon pylons for Danish Draken... Usually available as an aftermarket set - you will not find them in a box. Also, take care and follow the correct antenna placement. Original early fighter bomber variant is the only Danish Draken that can be an easy build. Early reconnaissance variants, however, will be a problem. The original Danish early RF-35 nose type is not available in any boxing or aftermarket set known to me. You will need to do some surgery on a Danish late type RF nose if you want the correct "early type" appearance. Here is where things start to be complicated. Over the years some 500 modifications were carried out during its service life of 23 years. During the 1970s the Danish Drakens received new altimeters, US ALR-45 radar warning receivers (later upgraded to ALR-65) and chaff and flare dispensers in their tail cones. ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ง๐—˜: In this phase, all Drakens were in their initial configurations, but with some bells and whistles added. Original nose types, but added formation lights, antennas, dispensers and similar. Check your reference materials and compare them with what is in the box. During the 1980s the Danish Drakens got an upgrade called WDNS (Weapon Delivery and Navigation System). This upgrade most notably included a Marconi 900 Series HUD and a Ferranti LRMTS (Laser Rangefinder and Marked Target Seeker) which required a new nose to be installed on the F-35 and TF-35. This nose was similar (BUT NOT THE SAME) as the one used on the RF-35 but lacked camera windows on the side. The RF-35's nose was also modified. Electronic warfare capability was also improved as the Danish Drakens were fitted with ALR-69 radar warning receivers (with six antennas on the vertical fin, two on each wingtip and two under the nose) and the ability to carry ALQ-162 jammer pods under the wingtips. The last upgrade was completed in 1986 and updated the systems for weapon aiming and navigation accuracy to a similar capacity of the Danish Air Force's General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcons. ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ง๐—˜: In this phase ALL TYPES OF DANISH DRAKENS GOT NEW NOSES and a lot of new equipment. It is really difficult to identify every single component. Check your reference materials and compare them with what is in the box. In fact, it is probably easier to build late type RDAF Draken since most of the required parts are available in various kit or aftermarket boxes. RDAF Draken could carry a wide array of NATO ordnance, such as 10,000 lb (4,535.92 kg) of NATO bombs, but also LAU-10 5โ€ Zuni rocket pods and LAU-3 2,75โ€ rocket pods and AGM-12B Bullpup missiles. For aerial combat it featured two 30 mm ADEN cannons (one on TF variants) and could also mount two AIM-9B Sidewinders (later AIM-9N2s) on the furthest hardpoints. The RF-35 could not equip the AGM-12B Bullpup. Sometime during their service life the rest of Danish Drakens also lost their ability to mount AGM-12B Bullpups. ๐——๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฅ๐——๐—”๐—™ ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿต๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฌ/๐Ÿณ๐Ÿญ - ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿต๐Ÿต๐Ÿฏ: F-35 โ€“ Fighter-bomber version ESK 725 Code letter A- and numbers from 001 โ€“ 020 RF-35 โ€“ single-seat reconnaissance version with a camera nose ESK 729 Code letters AR- and numbers from 101 โ€“ 120 TF-35 โ€“ two-seat trainer aircraft with only one cannon ESK 725/729 Code letters AT- and numbers from 151 โ€“ 161 ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ธ ๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฎ ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐—ท๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜: NOSE TYPE, NEW WEAPONS PYLONS, antenna layout, vertical fin top, wing tips, chaff/flare dispensers, formation lights, correct wheel types, correct cockpit type (as close as possible), correct jamming pods for the time period. 16. Hello guys, here they are, finally done. DIRTY DANES in 1/72 and 1/48 are officially available. Although they have been ready for some time, I had a lot of pre-orders, so I didn't have time to announce them. I did not expect expect so much interest for this subject - 1/48 set is already on low stock... Why Dirty Danes and why is this the biggest set Iโ€™ve ever made? The initial idea was simple, to make a semi-generic set with which almost any Danish plane painted dark green could be made. Royal Danish Air Force began to paint its aircraft in the standard colour known as SM/67, olive green (matt), during late the 1960โ€™s. This colour was very effective against Danish landscapes. Even though it is finished in just one color, the paint faded quite rapidly and unfortunately gave the aircraft an untidy appearance, although they were in fact very well maintained. After some time in service, the paint was usually touched up, but the weathering effects and consistent โ€˜touch upsโ€™ inadvertently resulted in a unique camouflage pattern. The worst weathering was probably caused by the fact that the aircraft were mostly parked outside in the elements, specifically during the harsh Danish winters. The weak matt paint durability problem was solved during the late 1970โ€™s when aircraft were re-painted in an extremely gloss variant of the same colour, but this clearly reduced the camouflage efficiency due to the monotone high shine of the aircraft surfaces. However, entering the topic, the madness combined with insomnia began. I discovered a lot of zapped Danish planes. The idea turned from a very simple one into a day and night research of a planes with zaps. I just had to find quality reference materials for 6-7 zapped planes that would not be just ordinary generic dark green Danes. โ€˜Zappingโ€™ is an old tradition among air forces, where a graffiti, slogan, sticker or emblem is applied to another units aircraft, in the spirit of rivalry and humour. This can be another squadron or even another Air Force. Zaps were very popular during the Cold War (mostly in Western Countries), early โ€˜zappingโ€™ could be considerable and in many cases the applications were causing significant paint damage to an aircraft worth millions. Later zaps were used only in the form of an adhesive sticker or small painted emblems. Some countries removed the โ€˜Zapsโ€™ as soon as possible, but the Danes had a sympathetic & tolerant perspective on the practice. Some โ€˜Zapsโ€™ have been present on Danish aircraft for many years. Many thanks to Jens Jensen and his friends for their help, advice and support. Without them this project would not have been so extensive and interesting. 17. Dear friends, thanks for the great interest. "Dirty Danes" are available, but I haven't solved the preorders yet, and new orders are just coming so I just can't find a time to announce them appropriately. I'll try do it this week. ...never had such a big interest for a decal set so far. Looks like 1/48 set could already go down to low stock.
  18. Hello dear friends. The interest for these Dirty Danes is much higher than I expected and many are interested for updates on this project... and here it is... I made several test prints and I am very pleased with how this has turned out so far, but I still want to work on some details. I donโ€™t want to put them into final production until Iโ€™m completely satisfied. I will give you more data when ready...
