  1. Very, very nice - the Thunderbolt provides a great 'canvas' and this has come out really well.
  2. Thanks for all the positive comments folks, really appreciated. I know what you mean, up close she is overwhelming. Those steerable engine pods (= no rudders) each weigh the same as a 747...
  3. Hi folks I first had a go at one of these a good 25 years or so ago, and although the kit is showing its age a bit now it's still good value with lots of diorama possibilities: 8 figures, a motorbike and various shells, casings and boxes are included. I might post again when I've tried my hand at those and found a suitable tractor for it... Thanks for looking JA
  4. Superb little dio there, no need for any description: which in my book makes it exactly how a good dio should be.
  5. Hi Harald No problems at all, went together very easily and the decals were well behaved too without the need for any setting solution (other than Klear which I always use).
  6. That's the beauty of coming back to the hobby when you're older - you can afford the better kits! Excellent work there Oddball, the F4J is a particular favourite although I think the Tornado deserves an honourable mention.
  7. Can only echo everyone else's comments - excellent painting technique and finish on what is an impressive model
  8. Hi Seadog - the p/e was from Gold Medal. It also includes the deck chairs and steamers, of which there are hundreds - I only made up a fraction of what was available. There were a couple of 1/400 Titanics recently which I've thought about getting for comparison purposes, both being the biggest ships in the world in their time - although at 150,000 tonnes the QM2 was 3 times heavier.
  9. Hi folks This is the only other afv of mine I think is worth showing, OOB and weathered with Tamiya pastels. Too clean around the base and the tracks don't sag enough, but hopefully I will put that right on my next efforts. Thanks for looking Regards JA
  10. Hmm, not sure to be honest Glenn - I might take liberties with the bits hanging off and the occasional serial number, but whiffery isn't really my thing. Many thanks though to you and everyone else for the kind comments, all really appreciated. Regards JA
  11. Ha ha, thanks clay head. How's the stiff neck? Thanks very much to everyone else also for the kind comments. Regards JA
  12. Captures the wear & tear of that campaign beautifully. Great website as well Pierre!
  13. Hi folks I mainly build aircraft but I've done a few afv's in the past, this being one of my better efforts. Built OOB but with zimmerit added (No More Nails actually). Not weathered enough I know, especially the tracks and wheels - something I need to get to grips with when I have a go at the other armoured stuff in the stash. Regards JA
  14. Hi folks This is my attempt at 'the most famous Phantom of all time' (apparently) and my favourite US aircraft. Must get around to getting the UK variant at some time. Thanks for looking Regards JA
  15. Hi folks I don't really 'do' ships but this was a labour of love, and at nearly a yard long photographing it was a bit of a challenge! The p/e set was used for the railings (can't remember who by now) and is a must imho if you're going to do this kit justice. Regards JA
  16. I would have to agree with Stephen re the shading on the upper surfaces, but that aside the technique and detail shown elsewhere are excellent (as usual) Arkady.
  17. Hi folks Hasn't been one of these offered up for a while so I thought I'd show mine. Shame really they didn't stay around longer in service to give us a choice of paint schemes... Probably a bit too glossy and I've no idea if the weapons load was mixed in real life, but I couldn't resist going for a bit of variety! C & Cs welcome as always Regards J A
  18. Another fantastic result from a true artist, your complete collection must be spectacular. Do you display them all together? I'd love to see some 'group' photos!
  19. I would echo the above comments, this could easily pass for a much bigger scale, well done sir. How long did you leave the Alclad to go off before you applied the masking? Any lifting of the paint when you removed it?
  20. That's a superb effort and to echo the others, the faded/burnt off paint effect is especially outstanding.
  21. superb result that Graham. personally I'd tone down the glossy finish a bit, but it doesn't detract from the finished model.
  22. Difficult to be critical with something as good as that! I would 'weight' the wheels but that is just my personal preference, and that would easily pass for 1/48 or even bigger. And welcome to the forum!
  23. Hi Folks This is the late Seventies-vintage Spitfire Vb and Bf109 F-4 duo. Showing their age now but I think they still scrub up ok from a distance, and the decal sheets are good with full stencilling (except for swastikas): Thanks for looking J A
