  1. Well put and I completely agree. I've pre-ordered two and I'm stoked to get my hands on 'em. However I'm not looking forward to correcting/ detailing the grill vent on the forward starboard fuselage. I also wish the floor had been more detailed. I've looked up a couple of images of the RAF floor but I'm not sure where to look for the differences or indeed what they are exactly. Is there a side-by-side image of both types of floors somewhere on the internet? Jay
  2. Please allow me to have you answer yourself 😁: So no divots - πŸ‘ Jay
  3. Would you agree that the overall shape looks close to the real thing? The complex but subtle curvature of the Draken seems to be represented well? Jay
  4. Skale wings have only issued their own toolings thusfar; an AD-5 and an Israeli F-16D so chances are this kit will be new tooling too. I haven't any of their kits myself but from what I've read online both are relatively typical short-run kits, reasonably well detailed although apparently not consistently so. No shake and bake and some skill required. Still, the TF-35 is very welcome. I will buy one. Jay
  5. Ar this point Hasegawa is starting to resemble Craggy Island's own Father Jack, in that it seems to sleep a lot and shouts 'girls' more often than appropriate... Jay
  6. Thank you for noticing - I believe you refer to pics of test shots, so let's hope Modelsvit have included IIIC legs in the mean time. If not, that would be a tad of a disappointment. The legs can be modified to something resembling the C leg, but the wheels cannot, at least not easily - thankfully Reskit make resin IIIC wheels - though if I'd accompany a Modelsvit purchase with Reskit wheels, at the end of the day we're left with an expensive package all things considered. We'll see. The IIIB is my favorite version of any Mirage so really looking forward to this. Jay
  7. I just checked my stash, and I'm happy to inform that the Esci kits and and least some if not all subsequent reissues of F-5A versions do have RF-5 nose parts. Maybe I'm very lucky to have bought exactly the right reissues though. Jay
  8. I would like to applaud Zvezda for including both sponson options in this first boxing: both the early and late versions. Some manufacturers have the habit of drip feeding particular aircraft versions with their associated unique parts onto the market. This kit is probably of the most representative version and with enough parts to tweak into a host of other versions. Also the accessories/ conversion after market is having a field day with this one - win-win for everyone. There are many plain jane C-130s to be built but after that I'm looking forward to an AM conversion of the EC-130H in the future. Jay
  9. I'm pretty sure it wasn' t (at least not in 1992 when it wore white distemper) https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/view/1028901 Jay
  10. That would be Hercules C.1P XV215 (C-130K) "Oh Lordy it's the Fat Slags" (1991): https://www.dstorm.eu/pages/en/gb/hercules.html I want to build XV195 with white markings so Zvezda's kit will presumably have the right stencils - I'm a very happy camper! 😌 Jay
  11. Wow! The built model indeed looks very very nice. Thanks for the links. I wasn't planning to build an F-4EJ initially but I think I will buy one to support the manufacturer in further developing a Phantom Phamily. My uneducated guess is: a slatted F-4E first, then an RF-4, or even the other way around - my thinking being the recent retirement of the RF-4E from JASDF service. Jay
  12. Perhaps this has already been mentioned on their Facebook page, I don't know - but I just noticed the two sets of both Turkish markings on the decal sheet. It would reasonable to assume there will be two kits per box... Jay
  13. Hi all, I was reminded by the Low-level speeds thread of a squadron exchange that took place between F6 Wing from Karlsborg (AJ 73 Viggens) and 41 Sqn at Coltishall (Jaguars), in September 1983. Thing is: where can I find any good photographic evidence of this? I have found two grainy photobucket pics on the Fightercontrol forum, but that's it. In the interest of accessibility to historical sources: Is anyone here in possession of pics taken at Coltishall during this interesting and unique deployment? One would think the local spotters community would have been in full attendance? πŸ˜‰ Links also welcome of course. Jay
  14. On low level speeds, I thought this interview with Mike Rondot, former Jag pilot, was interesting: http://www.collectair.co.uk/pdf/interview-hr.pdf Skip to the bit concerning the Viggen exchange on page 32 and read from the last paragraph onwards ("Squadron exchanges were a regular occurrence at Coltishall...") Quote: "They would fly around at Mach 0.95, 650kt give or take a bit, and they trained at 10m. We flew through firebreaks in trees, we flew all over northern Sweden at 30ft, and we never went below 600kt. All of this, I should add, was done under about a 150 to 200ft overcast with no breaks." Jay
  15. From what I've learnt, they have no affiliation at all but please correct me if I'm wrong. Wolfpack's F-5E kit development is only in its early stages and I think this announcement of the Tiger II is coincidental. However I do very much hope Wolfpack will continue with the project as their eye for accuracy has been proven. I agree with the above, Dreammodel's apparent lack of canopy mechanism and guns as in the pics is surprising. Jay
  16. Thank you for your informed reply! I am going to have to do the necessary research πŸ™‚ Jay
  17. Great news. Although I can't even imagine how small this kit is. Perhaps SH will bring us two kits in one box? A couple of questions for those in the know: was 70ΒΊ Stormo the only unit to have flown the SF260 in AMI service? Was the SF260A's squadron identification number (70-01 etc) coupled with the same Matricola Militare throughout their lives? I fancy building a couple of orange ones. Jay
  18. There are those who would call cashing in on high fantasy prices: a scam, plain and simple. Jay
  19. I have the feeling therein lies some kind of clue although I'm not sure how - I've read multiple accounts of all kinds of SEA in-field ad hoc solutions for very mundane problems, such as the white warning stripe on the B-52D external fuel tanks to counter the problem of everyone hitting their head against the night-black tank at night. So maybe the F-105G thing was done on purpose because of of something similarly maintenance-related? Maybe to do with gear-up testing on the ground? Maybe to check proper alignment of the door when deployed? Or perhaps related to checks between door and fuselage during pre-flight? Something like that. Jay
  20. Hi JB - alas it's not my bedroom - I just found the pic on internet so all credit goes to that person (couldn't find a name sorry). I have also seen Flory Models' walls similarly adorned on Youtube by the way. But yes, I do plan to store larger models vertically by simply using wall hooks under the tailpanes (the weight those parts will have to carry means some form of reinforcement is necessary). Jay
  21. Thanks -I believe it was kept as S.2C standard and never received the bulged door. Jay
  22. 135 GBP/ 154 EUR - Surely an error..? You can buy four nicely detailed and equally large Revell C-160s for that price... Jay
