  1. Thank you _ I am glad your son is enjoying it. The base is 6 foot long!
  2. Completed last year as a diorama project, here are 7 of the Tamiya 1/35 scale educational box sets of their Brachiosaur and baby models. I've added a number of additional babies to the model. With no idea what colour these beasts would have looked like, I chose to use a few flamboyant bright colours for the males and basic reptilian shades for their ladies. The tree is from the CollectA Tree Series and added really only for scale purposes.
  3. Hi Mrs P - great to see your completed dioram. I love the completed model and the idea of adding the T-Rex junior form the other educational set. I only saw it as I was asked to add my Brachiosaur diorama to this part of the forum so its a nice surprise to see your completed work. Good choice of jaw option too. The Trees look excellent so top mark all round from me once again John
  4. Thanks for the kind words. To best answer your questions, I have used basic modelling scenery materials along with some clear resin for the water. I just made it up as I went along really. I have also added some specific ferns which are plastic and some laser cut from paper. I used plaster for the base textures and normal military type scenic materials for the rocks and stones etc, then airbrushed them over in whatever colour shades I thought might look prehistoric enough.
  5. Thanks very much - I had completely forgotten I stuck these up on the diorama forum pages
  6. Very nice work. I do so love a good ship model. I guess I should be congratulating the pair of you on this build....
  7. Brilliant, just pure brilliance. Really looking forward to seeing much, much more of this project
  8. Blimus - in true Sid James fashion. That is truly beautiful. WOW, now why can't I make such a nice model - absolute top marks to you sir.
  9. Looks stunning - one of my all time favourite cold war jet fighters. One of my fellow IPMS club mates is a Starfighter fan and is in the process of building 3 different liveried Starfighters in 1/72; its good to see your model too. Very smart.
  10. Top work there, I do so love seeing Civil builds up here on the forum. And, I can even remember seeing 72's wearing that Livery. Great model - tip top and good to see what can really be done with that old plastic from Airfix
  11. Thank you all for the kind words and feedback here. Given the cost of the model (albeit discounted at an IPMS show) I felt obliged to build it rather than leave it in the stash knowing how much I don't really enjoy building vehicles and leave it to the experts normally.
  12. Thank you very much - looking back at this makes me really sad that all our lovely Queens have gone forever. So so very very sad
  13. Magnificent work - and I love the wash and chipping effects you have adopted. Tip Top - a real Stirling job there !
  14. I really enjoyed your WIP threat and now to see them completed and all together is superb.
  15. A stunning build, and so nicely painted. Great work and thank you for sharing this.
  16. wow - I have never ever seen this kit assembled before. Very nice work
  17. Top work there, very nice modelling. (and I can't believe I've seen them before Eric !)
  18. I am not really a vehicle modeller but I've owned a few 595 Competizione Abarth's over the last 10 years or so, so I thought I would have a go at making a model of a proper 500. Here is Italeri's 1/12 kit, I used Tamiya's rattle can paint through an airbrush. I'm a bit too young to know if the interior choice of colours match the exterior paint job, or even if Fiat ever used that shade of turquoise? It's only a model after all.... I think this took me about 2 weeks to build, and I was sufficiently reminded at the end of it why I dislike making vehicles and stopped doing so back in the 1980's; my attempt's door hinges never hang properly on my models, bonnet wouldn't sit flat, boot would close properly etc etc. I did however manage to get the curvature of the kits window parts to fit properly using warm water as they came out of the box and off their sprue trees pretty flat. Micro Krystal Clear was used to attach the glazing - that was about the only fun part. Please enjoy her. John
  19. seeing this has reminded me that I have 3 models of The Kursk to build. Your Sub looks beautiful, a nice way to get back to the bench for you. Good stuff, and nice and British too.
  20. Hello That was a tragic accident and something I remember all to well. We had a property on Tresco so were very frequent flyers over to St Mary's or Tresco once the direct service was launched back in the '80's. We were booked to travel on the service 1 month after the crash but ended up in Cape Town instead that year. I remember being extremely apprehensive boarding the next S61NM on our next trip to Tresco thereafter. Having flown on the service so many times beforehand, I thought the trip to be safe and without any potential dangers.
