  1. Thank you all for the comments and praise - what a great team the forum has. I used to belong to Finescale modellers forum which brought more criticism than positivity - Britmodeller really is a very homely place to share our work. If any of you are attending the REME Museum model show on April the 13th, please come and find me - you will find me with my VC10 and completed RAF KC1 plus a few more - thanks again - John
  2. Hi - I see some comments about the skirts - I used fimo putty to replicate the deflated skirts - at the time of taking these pictures the result was not looking too good but once painted and highlighted they look satisfying to my standards Thanks again for the kind words and great stories of old from the docks and hovercraft ramps - and of course for the historical input too. I was going to donate the finished diorama to James's Hovercraft Museum when I have got bored of the final result.
  3. Hi I used my dremmel with a circular saw head to strip the skirts down and you could use prop blur blades for depicting rotating blades - bye for now
  4. This is getting better every time I look in - can't wait to see the finished kit
  5. Simon - I love this - it is brilliant. I had to swap monitors over to my 30" to enjoy it close up - magnified excellence. I love the old Victors - they don't make 'em like they used to... Thank you for sharing
  6. Hi fellow modellers Here is my £50 1/48 Trumpeter Wellington which I bought prior to all the wonderful aftermarket options becoming available for this kit. I scratch built the interior as the kit lends to doing more inside. I did not use any references for the build hence the inaccuracies and I have had it pointed out to me after the model appeared in SAM that the exhausts are on the engines in the wrong position - whoops! It was the fun I took from building this interior that led me to all the extra work inside my Sunderland diorama. Sadly this kit fell foul to Siamese Kamikaze Cat destruction and ended up in the bin in a million pieces having been chewed up by my Weimaraners while I was at work Thanks for looking and bye for now - John Thank you for looking in
  7. Hi modellers - here is a quick build I knocked up over a weekend a few years back. My wife abandoned me for the weekend and left me £10 for a trip to Costa after leaving me to do the weeks shop - I diverted to the local toy shop and scooped up what I could get for my Tenner - here she is nose down and taking on water... I used a scrap of 2x1 and some Vallejo Water Effects for the base plus a few straps of spare picture frame offcuts to tidy it all up Some flower arranging wire was used for the lifeboat lines - the lifeboats had to be individually cut off too Thanks for looking in here - John
  8. Hi there In true Blue Peter style, "here's one I made earlier" - well about 4 years ago. It was my first and only attempt at building a Lanc - I was shocked how expensive this kit was. Thanks for peeping in - John R Leah
  9. this is looking seriously good and well detailed. Those gauges look pretty smart too - good luck with the rest of the build work - she looks great so far
  10. Hi - keep those pictures coming - I always wanted to build this kit - I look forward to seeing the end result
  11. Looking very interesting and those tips will be remembered - looking forward to seeing the end results - thanks for sharing and updating
  12. Hi there all - I had a chat with Densil over at Welsh last week and this is definitely a pirate copy of his masterpiece which is a shame as it has rather taken the excitement away from the build and definitely left me with an indirect sense of guilt. Anyway - I have had a few days of filling, sanding and cutting on this build - here is the update for anyone interested I bought the scale-liners and nazca models wing corroguard decals - here is the comparison
  13. Hi - looking forward to watching this build - I love a Lanc in 1/72 - keep up the good work Bomber Harris
  14. Hi folks - thanks for the advice here. I suspected I might get some of the responses. I think I will park this idea. I already have a hand painted 1/200 BWIA L1011 on the shelf that I had commissioned for myself years ago (I swear it is a white metal moulding from the Hasegawa kit) - I bought it from the aircraft collectors shop in the hotel up at Heathrow years ago
  15. Only the Brave! wow that is a daring conversion to take on - good luck with it - I will enjoy watching the progress - thanks for posting
  16. Hello out there Would anyone know if there are any 1/200 or 1/144 BWIA (bewee) L1011 Tristar decals available for the airlines last livery please - the large steel pan type. I was hoping to slip either a modified Hasegawa 1/200 L1011 into a Dash 500 series or the Welsh 1/144 Dash 500 L1011 into production one day soon(ish) to produce this Thanks for any help you can offer - John
  17. this is a great looking 73 - nicely built but I am unfamiliar with the kit manufacturer and can only assume its in 1/144. I used to fly to Gibraltar every month on BA's 737s from Gatwick before they took up their LHR A320 service to Gib - a fully loaded 737 used to take every inch of the runway on hot days to get airborne - thanks for posting
  18. this is brilliant - well done and those extras look great too - smashing colour
  19. Hi everyone I cannot believe the response from this posting - thank you all for the kind words. I see a number of questions so I have posted a number of pictures which are hoped to cover most and provide the answers you have asked me for. Incidentally, I had a spare 2nd model of this kit that was sent to me with my annual SAM subscription which was put to use during the base assembly rather than get Vallejo water effects all over the finished model. here we go - sorry if it comes out a bit endless and lastly, here are the home made radomes
  20. Absolutely beautiful - the colours look soooo realistic - this is definitely going on my 2015 try to build it list
  21. Very nice model and great black and white snap - thanks for the historical notes too
  22. Hello Remi This really looks very smart - I viewed the slide show link and really enjoyed looking at your very fine work and excellent light weathering/wear and tear effects - the colours used look very accurate and the flightdeck looks very smart too - thanks for sharing
  23. Oh yes, I do love star fighters - looks deadly and well made to me - thanks for sharing
