Just check your references with regards MTP Bergans.....defo not issued until very recently if they have at all? They would still be DPM. Yes there is MTP Daysacks And here still DPM Bergans.... Picture Oct 13 Guys either end have DPM bergans. Now its up to you (im not a rivet counter!!) but my view is that MTP Bergans and webbing PLCE type are yet to be issued - I can check with my ex-3 PARA colleagues? But recent tours (pics above show DPM bergans) Hope this helps Tim

Also the 3 Sqn AC XB984 on PT3 shows a wing fence, but the stencilling guide says not needed on these AC ( walkways)......also if I was to do this AC, any ideas of what green to use to match the tail decal!!??? To top it all the Decal instructions state that all RAF Sabres ended up with a 6-3 wing - giving me carte blanche to use any decal...??!! Photo references are few and far between of AC with available decals!

HiAll, With regards the USAF type metal Sabres, I am thinking of doing a 1/72, my real Q is do you klear over the paint before decalling, seal with clear, weather etc....what is your final coat? I would airbrush paint (planning humbrol enamel (maybe Alclad 2 beyond me yet?), klear (unless using Xtracolour), decal, microsol/set, klear to seal, florys, weathering with oils/thinners etc, the matt cote using Humbrol.....now if I have a shiny aluminium aircraft, what should I use for my final coat.....gloss, satin, matt??? Also what brands you recommend....don't want to ruin a good build by getting it wrong.... My other Q - I have a F86F-30 withe the 6-3 Wing and fence (Academy 1/48) with the Sabre Part 3 Decals from Eagle Strike (3-92 Sqns care of Julien - thanks!), I notice all are non 6-3 wings....! Now where do I stand, do I have to find decals with the 6-3 wings? I was given some bit parts fom PT1 and Pt 2, with only a 112Sqn showing a wing fence....and typically the only the 4 Sqn AC on PT1 does not have a wing fence, even though its stated on the forum that all 4 Sqn did have....help!! I know this has been covered in depth elsewhere, I have read that all 4 Sqn Thanks in advance.

Enjoy moving....its lush....not! -
some useful stuff, we used to attach Bergans and kit to the roll cage, if we were on MOG's (Mobile Operation Group) Patrols, as the vehicles would be full of ammo, water, rations etc and the CSW gunner. http://www.the-two-malcontents.com/2008/12/british-soldiers-and-their-jackals-in-the-afghan-desert/ http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=117601&page=1&ord=1 Hope this helps

enjoying this, I have 1 and the Vern Pave tac kit. I was born and bred in Lakenheath and grew up with the F111F....I remember the Libya raid, we all thought WW3 was starting as all the tanker movement as well as the F111F was stacking above my house, I was 17 and on leave from the Army..... there are various decals, but harder to find now: 1/48 Xtradecal: X015-48 USAF F-15E & F-111 48th FW & F-4D 48th TFWalso http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/decals/ab/decal_ab_48054.shtml http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=ABD-48-054 http://tedtaylor.hobbyvista.com/75-academy-f-111/page-75.html Good luck, Ive never done photo etch, but I want it flying in the kids room, so will scrape off the belts etc. How you glue it to the resin, superglue?

like the RAF paint job Arniec - what colour is it underneath - the silver mentioned by Julien earlier?

mucho praise from guys of your skillset....normally a lonely hobby, this GB stuff makes it a much more communal affair with the opportunity to share great experience as well as real life stuff! Thanks - am sourcing a Sabre and decals for that Group Build, however it appears that Saints Phil has the same idea as me, don't want to look like a copycat, just so you know Phil!!
-
RAF wise - whats the opinion on the correct colour for the undersurfaces (PR Blue Hu230 is on the Airfix call out)??

Which micro filler paint do you use? Need to re-think how I fill, just using putty at the moment. -
Just want to say thanks to Mish and Phil for running this GB, great fun, lots of top tips from all you guys, so much so I am looking for a Sabre for that build - GB's seem the way forward for me, meet lots of experts and copy em.....ta again!

Yep, we in the Parachute Regiment depended on the Harrier and SHAR for our support during the initial part of Expeditionary Operations as nothing else would be available....left a big gap for troops like us and the Marines....
