  1. Vulcan done Need to get the 2 Lancs off the bench and then look at getting the later Airfix tool started, wheels down to put it in my cabinet along with the Vulcan, maybe squeeze in a 1/72 Canberra and even a F-35B Lightning II - I’m reading the Hasegawa option is good, with some aftermarket decals. It seems there are no actual Sqn markings on the F-35B’s at the moment, apparently they operate as a pool. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hasegawa-01576-f-35-lightning-ii-b-version--1122322 https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/KW172212
  2. Thanks I used a 4:1 Ratio of RAF Sky MRP-118 and MRP -389 the actual colour noted on the decal instructions was Tan FS30219. maybe try mixing things until you get what you want and you’re happy with. I grew up in Lakenheath so enjoy building models from the base. good luck with the build
  3. Kit: Cyber-Hobby 1:200 Modern Air Power Series Avro Vulcan B.2 Subject: Modelled as Avro Vulcan B.2 XL321 of 617 Sqn RAF, based at RAF Scampton, 1962 Details: Modelled as per reference pics from interweb and decal instructions Misc: Mr Paint paints, Mr Color paints, Vallejo paints, Oils and Florey dark Dirt wash Build Thread:
  4. Some weathering but if dark dirt to try to replicate the dirty on the ‘shoulder’ areas and wing .. some oils to try to subtlety weather as per the undersides on the pic Just need to put the probe and some antenna/pitots on plus a semi gloss final cote.
  5. Getting there on the Lancs and. Vulcan
  6. Finishing off with some gloss to seal the decals in and some grey Tamiya panel line accent. got the pesky severely over engineered tiny undercarriage bits on! I may do a little weathering and then stick on a semi gloss final coat.
  7. Some more decals on not sure whether to spray white over the glass area and paint blank or to just touch up the white areas ? got the Lancs out - I started them 5 years back, they’ve been tucked away so thought I’d best just get them done … will be little or no weathering, just want them done. Will look to do the 3rd model wheels down and into my cabinet as room on the ceiling is sparse now !
  8. Kit: Matchbox PK-101 - 1/72 A-7D Corsair II Subject: Modelled as an A-7P of the Portuguese Airforce SN 15521 Retirement scheme June 2008 Details: Modelled as per reference pics from interweb and decal instructions Misc: Mr Paint paints, Mr Color paints, Vallejo paints,Model Maker A-7P in Portugal Service D72062 Decals, Quickboost Refuelling probe. Build Thread:
  9. Thanks Adam - very informative and helpful - nice build - some good info on Black Buck sorties as well. Seems my ECM plates are in the wrong place, I broke one trying to move them so have had to live with it and try to repair! Filled in the mounting hole for the extra probe! Will need to rub it back and refill etc til ready to repaint... With the 'live' Blue Steel 'Shape' - I take it the small roundels (not shown on the instructions) should be used? Not much out there for obvious reasons, but with the white live missile I take it I use the standard colour roundels 25 rather than the subdued 24? A quick search shows mock ups etc with a red warning triangle only? So should I omit the roundel?
  10. Some basic work - went together quite quickly... If the windscreen is not great I will just paint black... Bit of grey primer and rough pre-shade using DSG Getting the white on is a judgement call to not leave it too white and toylike... Got the black on - evidence shows this airframe had the black areas that are sometimes seen painted in the buff 'radome' colour... Tail is dry fitted - will decal it before adding with some tamiya extra thin...
  11. Really need to get the Tonka out and finish off... Meanwhile, using the Big and British build to model a lil Vulcan!
  12. Im in with a late entry - have been building over a couple of weeks. V small for my eyes, but picked up cheap in Tokyo when I was working over at the Olympics... Box and part pics... Fairly straightforward, apparently some wrong bits on it, no decals for Skyflash, too many wheels for nose gear, will just use the 2, will remove the radar housing on the nose as building against the online refs also the Corgi collectable! Link to a nice 1/72 Airfix build... https://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124124
  13. Thanks all for the support - just finished my build - work got in the way abit.....
  14. Want to get this done - need to build the Detolf cabinet to put it in! Tanks and missiles to sort, wheels and doors then the pitots and antennas etc ..
  15. With work being so busy I am going to struggle to finish on time unfortunately... Got the gloss cote on to seal in the decals... Started on the refueler tank Need to get the wash on it, put in the office parts and get the gear and doors sorted - as well as all the other bits....maybe too much to do but will finish and post on here...
  16. Main Decals on, combination of kit and the aftermarket...next for the stencils and I need to build the refueling pod...
