  1. This describes my riveting philosophy exactly - OK my entire model making philosophy. The wing looks grand Steve.
  2. This is the 1/72 Modelsvit Mirage IIIO in an RAAF 75 Sqn scheme. The build thread is here: Thanks @TEMPESTMK5 for being such a great host, and thanks @Enzo the Magnificent for all your GB work!
  3. Stew! This kit has intrigued me recently and keeps showing up on my forays into the interwebs, and now there's an official Stew DappleTM build of it, what a world! It looks fantastic, and I love all the details you've caught, like the landing gear indicators(?) over the wings, and painted gear bays left over from the previous scheme. Hope you're doing well my friend.
  4. Thank you Enzo! Can't wait to see your dozens of completed builds!
  5. So that's the secret - I must begin plans to install a lounge immediately. Phew, that landing gear looks complicated Ced - I stared and stared and can't come up with any suggestions (then again, I don't have my lounge yet).
  6. @keefr22 Here is a pic of the Mr Metal Color experiment: The left side has the Future coat, and you can see the rainbow sheen it creates. It's been a month or two and it's all pretty shiny still.
  7. Thanks for the kind words everyone! Hi Keith, sorry I don't think I made it clear what shades I was using. They are: Aluminum Plate - the shiniest and lightest panels Stainless Steel - the panel surrounding the exhaust and the leading portions of the air intakes (hard to see these with the red markings also there) Exhaust & Burnt Metal - these were always mixed with Aluminum Plate to give the darker variations - particularly on the wings and the fuselage 'bands'. I mixed them by simply dipping the brush into one cap and then the other rather than making a mix in a separate pot. This means that no two panels are really alike, but that's the point of variation right? I ran some experiments with Mr Metal Color using the same technique and will try and remember to post the results here soon. It worked pretty much the same as the Model Master technique, but it remains 'wet' and workable for much longer, but it was very smooth and shiny. I've heard that Mr Metal Color will deteriorate over time, and so I coated a bit of the test portion with Future - it left a rainbow sheen that could be good or bad depending on the intent. EDIT: There is an RFI here:
  8. Hi Patrice, please sign me up for this one - I just ordered a Modelsvit IIIB! Thanks for organizing this Patrice, and thanks for your work on the current Bloch / Dassault GB!
  9. Hello @Enzo the Magnificent and @TEMPESTMK5, I understand that this GB has been extended to June 11? I've got one ready to add to the Gallery (what, Cookie finished something?), but it is locked. Either way, thanks so much you two, this has really been a fun GB!
  10. I just got here and you're almost done! Off to a great start Ced!
  11. Hi everybody, this is my first aircraft completion of 2023 - A 1/72 Modelsvit Mirage IIIO built in the Marcel Bloch/Dassault Aviation Group Build. The build thread is here: The finish is Model Master Metalizer brushed/polished on - the details of the technique are in the build thread. As usual, it's difficult to capture how a metal finish looks in photos, so I tried to take these RFI photos in many varying lighting setups. I really enjoyed the Modelsvit kit and have their Mirage 2000-5 and Mirage 4000 in the stash, so I think I may just keep building them!
  12. Thanks @Tentacles, the belts came included as PE. And thanks for letting me know the GB has been extended, I had no idea til you mentioned it! Ha! I knew that the "1/72" wheel was pretty hard to see, so even if I screwed up, it would be difficult to capture the failure in photos! I added a wash to the seat - see below - thanks Giorgio! Thanks Andre! The RAF style wing roundels were specified in the instructions and a web search confirmed it. Thanks for all the roundel info @exdraken! Thanks Terry! You can see a few wavy rivet lines in close-ups, but I'm still happy with how it turned out. Look @CedB, it's a dead one! Placing the landing gear and detail bits was even more painful than usual as the finish is very delicate and maneuvering the model around had to be done carefully. Seat, complete with @giemme prescribed wash: I think it's finished! Rivet close up
  13. Metal experiments are my favorite - great update Giorgio! I really like the depth that results from the polishing discs.
  14. I worked on this guy quite a bit this weekend, but I'm still gonna be in a rush to finish on time. The transfers are mostly on now, and I got out the rivet wheel - the results are really subtle, which I'm happy with: Wheels painted! And here's a random pic in low light just to see how it photgraphed in those conditions: But the biggest modelling accomplishment of the weekend, the seat:
  15. Very cool idea Enzo - it will be great to see these side-by-side. Good thing you won't be distracted by any other Mirage builds!
  16. All of that masking definitely paid off - this is looking amazing!
  17. Once again I'm late with an update - thanks for still following along everyone! Transfers started: I probably would have been better off masking and painting some of these larger ones, but the Modelsvit decals are very well designed.
  18. Well that may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me. Just punched the "Follow Thread" button on this one Terry!
