  1. Oooh did you scratch build the tail extension - looks great.
  2. Thanks everybody! Got the canopy on and masked And sprayed the Stynylrez metal primer But it left many lumps and bumps in the surface I was just about to start planning on an Olive Drab finish instead, when I went ahead and tried some light sanding with a 3000 grit sanding stick, and while it looked terrible, it was very smooth to the touch. So I tried applying some AK True Metal to the worst offending panel with a cotton bud. Phew, still in business!
  3. Have two on the way from the Big H, thanks @Mr T. @Bedders - there were plenty in stock - still says "40+"
  4. I can't tell you how happy I am to see a Corsair get the Giemme TreatmentTM. Very excited to watch this one Giorgio with our fellow Britmodellers including the Corsair Cousins themselves: @corsaircorp and @Corsairfoxfouruncle! Here's the link to the Corsair RFI with the mis-matched ammo covers - it's one of those things you can go a long time without noticing, then when you do, it seems every reference pic has them.
  5. Fantastic work on this one, beautiful cockpit and precise mask work to get the yellow nose to line up with the decal.
  6. Fantastic Giorgio - can't wait to see the RFI! Wait - a Corsair [puff of smoke as I race over to the new thread]
  7. Forgive my oversight, thank you very much @Marklo!! I managed to paint the engine, and began the seam work on the fuselage - sprue goo followed by acrylic paint as a seam check. Wings are together Wings and horizontal stabilizers attached with some Perfect Plastic Putty in the seams. I bought some Quickboost stabilizers because I can't resist drooped elevators. Here is a test run for the NMF technique I'm planning on using for this one on the belly of a Canberra paint mule: It's Stynylrez metal primer, AK True Metal worked in to that with a cotton bud, then highlights with some Vallejo Metal Color - we'll see.
  8. Wow, excellent scribing work Jean, and the ID lights look fantastic.
  9. Wow, I think this is just my second build of 2023 - I've wasted way too much time not building models this year. I'm not sure what squadron/markings I'm going to go for on this one, but I know I want to try something different for the metal finish; I'm thinking Stynylrez metal primer, with AK True Metal paste worked in to that - we'll see if it works! Cockpit started: Yahu instrument panel attached Cockpit finished And fuselage together I'm looking forward to this Group Build, thanks @Corsairfoxfouruncle and @Enzo the Magnificent for setting it up!
  10. Amazing scheme Bill, would never have guessed the transfers were such a problem, that's a beautiful Phantom.
  11. Beautiful worn P-47 Giorgio, you definitely gave this one some real personality! I hope it make it safely to Old Buck and that you folks had a great visit.
  12. Sorry for my late arrival to this discussion - fascinating and inspiring conversation as usual. I built the CMR Mk XII alongside a Brigade conversion a few years ago as shown in the link posted by @Troy Smith on the first page of this thread. I found my old RFI for them here, but who knows how long the old Photobucket links will hold up: I just used the Brigade Griffon nose section and mated it up to a Sword VC, and it matched up pretty well. The CMR kit was superior in just about every way, except that its fuselage is noticeably short, and it's resin. Reading through this thread has me dreaming of using the nose section of a Sword Seafire XV mated to an Eduard VIII for a pleasing XII. I'm a little worried about that route, as it turns out that the Sword VC nose does not match up at all with the Eduard IX fuselage. and I'm afraid that the Sword XV may suffer the same fate.
  13. I found the same thing in my chipping experiments with Colourcoats - but if you decide to chip as early as you would with water or alcohol based acrylics, I found that the enamel Colourcoats remained pliable, almost rubbery, so it was best to wait for them to fully cure and then apply elbow grease. Beautiful paint work Steve.
  14. It's always so enjoyable to watch your paint work Giorgio - now where's that popcorn emoji? Ah, there we go.
