Corsairs limited build for 23.
Cookenbacher replied to Corsairfoxfouruncle's topic in 2023 Year Book
So glad you're able to be back at the bench Dennis and may 2024 see you in better and better health. You only managed 4 times my 2023 production! Lovely aircraft as usual, and I'm very taken with the Star Wars output, especially the metallic Clone Infiltrator! -
Amazing that you can build so many models to that degree of quality in a single year - just brilliant Alistair!

Thanks Dennis! Things are going well here in Seattle, just very busy! It's great to see that the @Corsairfoxfouruncle aircraft factory is revving back up to full steam! Thank you, thank you - it's Stynlrez metal primer, then Vallejo Metal Color aluminum, then AK True Metal paste buffed on top of that. I could buff each panel and have two layers of metallic paint underneath in case I was too aggressive. Thank you George! I went to school in NM, and most of my family is still there and I think they have one of the best state flags. Thanks Stefano! I've begun chopping and mixing some Spitfires again, and was re-reading your wonderful Mk XII thread just recently! Thank you Giorgio - I'm disappointed that I ruined the second P-47 - I must really try your NMF technique! Thank you Francois, and happy New Year to you too! Thank you Andy - I must admit that the check transfers were very intimidating, but settle well with Mr Mark Setter and Softer Thank you Alistair - I need to catch up on your recent wonder-builds!

That is an elegant looking Liberator Neil, wow -
You always pick the best schemes John, and it's hard to believe this is 1/144th!

Fantastic build!

I managed a second whole build in 2023, a 1/72 Tamiya Razorback for the P-47 Thunderbolt STGB. Build thread is here: That final pic also featuring my thumb in the upper left corner! Happy New Year everyone!

Another Metal Experiment - 1/72 Tamiya P-47D

Well, disaster struck with build number two - something went wrong with the insignia masks and they wouldn't come up properly creating quite a mess. Fixing it would have required removing all the paint to that point and starting over, which I really didn't have the stomach for. -

Agreed, he looks very menacing! The cape update spared us from his fearsome stare - very impressive Giorgio! -

So glad you're doing well Steve, and the P-47 looks ace! -
I wouldn't complain about an extension either!

Academy vs Revell 1/72 belligerently battling bubble tops
Cookenbacher replied to AdrianMF's topic in P-47 Thunderbolt STGB
That's a beauty of a scheme Adrian - and you're working at such a clip that my comments about the check scheme scheme and modified figure are woefully out of date: I really like how the faded OD sets off the checks, and your figure work is very impressive - you basically had to sculpt his entire flying jacket! -
Just saw the gallery pics for this one AW, fantastic build! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!

Flying start John!

Your figure painting skills definitely shine through on this cockpit. -

Wow, the olive drab looks great Adrian, I love the subtle faded effect you've achieved, and it sets off the checks very nicely. -
Very cool AW, these 56th FG schemes with the camo tops and silver undersides really do stand out.
-
That is a striking scheme - well done!
