  1. And here is one of the most idiotic parts of the aftermarket kit. The tail gunner's position is made from a single piece of clear. Why the guy didn't make it in two halves, clear canopy and resin lower is a bit beyond me. There's no clear indication as to where any of the body/glazing/ribs are meant to be. I'm going to have to make an educated guess on it?
  2. Just resurrected this again after leaving it sitting around for too long. Silly modelmaker cut too much off the rear of the fuselage. Luckily, I kept the offcuts and have re-attached and trimmed them down. There'll be a bit more making good with filler though.
  3. Trying to find information re 86 Squadron Beauforts when based at St Eval. In particular camouflage schemes, codes, letters serial numbers. For an art project based on a raid around 8th Oct on St Peter Port. Had a wealth of info all about this but have lost it due to computer meltdown a couple of years ago.
  4. I'm trying to find information on 86 Squadron Beauforts when based at St Eval. In particular, three took part in a raid on St Peter Port on 8th October 42 (?). Need to know colour schemes, Sqdn codes, individual aircraft numbers etc. I'm intending to build the ICM kit for an art project. Had a wealth of info on this raid some time ago but a computer meltdown meant I lost it.
  5. Had a bit of a blitz on this. Fitted the aftermarket control surfaces and landing flaps. Positioned them so as to give the model a little bit of interest as it will be on its undercarriage. I've let the flaps 'sag' a wee bit as I've noticed the Duxford Blenheim does so 'at rest'. Ended up using the kit bomb bay doors as I wasn't entirely happy with the resin items.
  6. Bet you thought I had forgotten all about you!. Got side-tracked but made a little progress. So, bomb bay doors fitted, you'll note that there are some kit items fitted. The bomb racks are Airfix because the resin ones were so fragile they virtually disintegrated under slightest touch. The leading inner doors are, again, Airfix because one resin door disappeared somewhere. The outer doors, I'm unsure about them at the moment and I'm deliberating whether or not to remove them and put the kit doors on.
  7. Aftermarket bomb bay fitted. I made an (unwitting) pig's ear of this. I failed to realise that the forward bulkhead of the bomb bay is also the cockpit floor. I had already fitted the nose and when I tried to fit this, it wouldn't fit. Much cursing and grinding back the kit floor with my Expo drill and it went in. Hopefully my error will be hidden under the glazing.
  8. Cockpit section glued into the fuselage. This was, actually, a bit of a swine to put together. Nothing seemed to be a particularly good fit, the glazing on the cockpit sides and the placement into the fuselage. Took a bit of teasing here and there to fit and even then there are gaps that now need a bit of filler. Anyone had any problems with this kit at this stage?
  9. Work on the office.Work on the office. Interior green with little details picked out in black and red. glazing glued in place but just held together at the moment with tape for the purpose of the pics
  10. Fuselage and wings mated together, only a minimal amount of filler required around the engine nacelles and inner leading edges of the wing. Looking a little bit more like an aeroplane now.
  11. Probably seen all of those colours in various aircraft over the years, HaHa!
  12. Fuselage halves and aftermarket bomb bay. A small piece of the fuselage near the wing root needs to snipped off each side. Performed with a razor saw and tidied up with a file. Starboard side done.
  13. You're right, I probably don't need it I'm interested to see how the kit plays with them. As for the colours, I'll agree that 99.9% of flying and museum examples have been restored/repainted, but unlike the RAF's exterior colours, browns, greens, greys etc, which are all 'defined' shades, interior green is a bit like racing green. 'Tin of racing green paint mate, which one?'
  14. I have a large stash of Gunze Sangyo colours. The (then) Modelzone shop near wanted to clear out their stock of acrylic pots and I obliged. Having had the chance to crawl in and out of many WW2 aircraft I can say that 'interior green' can range from a delicate peppermint green to a dark chrome green!
