  1. Ok, I've not had alot of time for modelling in the past week, but I need to finish this model. So, here are the collection of subs, diving cage, diving bell and dingy that come with the kit. I've assembled, primed and base coated these. I'm not sure if the smaller subs are the correct size in relation to the model, I'm sure I've seen a photo of two of these on the rear deck of the calypso and they hardly fit on the model. I think I'll just use the larger two man sub, diving cage and the bell. I don't like the colour of the dingy. I might paint it dark orange / red or just not use it. Only the helicopter, rigging, decals and detail painting on the accessories to go.
  2. Built! A love how a model looks once you spray it with lacquer primer (tamiya fine surface as always). The canopy has been masked and painted on the inside (sorry I didn't photograph that!) and attached at the corners with PVA, it will be coming off the model later and left open for display. Having carefully painted the exhausts, I forgot to mask them, so they will need painting at the end. Next step, pre-shading panel lines.
  3. Little and large Primed, ready for some paint.
  4. I've got other bigger projects to finish but I'll think about it. However, I have added some panel lines to make this a 'mid' Mk1. Now I have a batch of plastic to prime
  5. I'm having bags of fun! Loving the group build. My vote goes to turning this group build into a permanent forum section!
  6. Yes, I do know I want to, it's just a question of, can I do it before the end of the group build and can I stop buying more kits that fit the bill!
  7. Free on the cover of SAMI this month - 2 mins of hard graft and it's ready for primer! Thanks for watching!
  8. Now I'm spoilt for choice. I do fancy building something big!
  9. I also have an Airfix 1/72 Short Sutherland III that a friend gave me when he moved house, in the box are a couple of aeroclub engines and propellers. I've no idea what he paid for it but it didn't cost me anything. Does this qualify for the group build?
  10. More candidates for the group build (damn you ebay!) - Revell 1/72 torpedo boat PT117 £5.19 Revell 1/108 Harbour Tug Boat £7.71
  11. Oooo, I just found this thread, looking good!
  12. That looks great! I have a nice stash of expensive 1/35 tanks and at first I thought, why would anyone bother with 1/100 tanks? You've just answered my question - fun kits to practise on. There's loads of weathering techniques I haven't done and want to learn and this looks to be a great way to practise without the time and money invested in a 1/35 tank! Thanks for the ideas!!! I'll be buying a few of these kits!
  13. I'm going to glue it all together, fill in cracks, prime it, more filler, more primer and then paint it. I think that's the right way.
  14. Thanks for the interest and nice comments. So, onwards with the build. Test fitting, more test fitting and finally a load and glue and clothes pegs. Note the extra sprue bit to ensure a good fit with the wing roots. And a bit of a shim needed. All sanded ready for the main assembly tomorrow (possibly). I have to say that apart from the dodgy painting guide, this kit is a dream to put together.
  15. Love the paint job, the texture looks so realistic. Stunning.
  16. So I bought a new toy today, a magnifying visor and this I what I did with it - For size reference, the eye of a needle and the end of my 000 brush. thanks for the kind comments!
  17. Not much to report, yesterday a bit of RLM 02 went on. Tonight I shall be base coating the cockpit.
  18. Absolutely awesome! I bet these are better than the originals. Again, thank you so much Jorgen!
