  1. Maybe not the "NCC-" part, but the 1701 part... in the font used on natural metal Me-262's after completion. And the pilot's name stencil would be "Jakob Kirch". I do not care for these Luft 46 "secret projects" at all - normally. But your build of this bird is really fascinating. Well done!
  2. It is easy to see where Gene Roddenberry got his inspiration from.
  3. Mike,

I noticed getting lots of email notification of aircraft builds yesterday. I checked my account today and noted that there were several builds and forum which I followed - however, I didn't follow them. Please note, if case this was observed by other members also. I unfollowed every unwanted build and forum now.

Thanks for the heads up.  It's possible that a few things got scrambled during the switch over, but so far we've had no reports of this other than yours.  I'll keep this in mind though, in case anyone else remarks on it :)

  4. You most certainly did! It probably would have been easier for you just to build this model kit - rather than setting up this elaborate hoax! You DID a brilliant job on those moon landings, though!
  5. If it wasn't for the background, it would be indistinguishable from the actual aircraft. Well done!
  6. How to get it on would interest me as well... Congratulations, the medal is certainly well deserved!
  7. Fantastic aircraft model - I hope, I will be able to look at mine with satisfaction at some point in time. As I won't treat myself to airbrush equipment due to the little time I (probably) will devote to modelling in future: Is there a white paint in a rattle can, which is easy to apply and compatible with the other paints (Gray, black) required for this aircraft? Your experiences would be very helpful. Bill, I cross my fingers that your health sorts itself out! Best of luck, B.
  8. Crusader nostalgia Part 3: http://voughtworks.blogspot.com/2015/02/xf8u-1-crusader-at-60-part-i.html and http://thanlont.blogspot.com/2015/03/happy-birthday-vought-f8u-crusader.html. At some point I will have to start building my copy of the aircraft - intention is a VF-33 aircraft of USS Enterprise as per this image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:F8E_Launch-VF33-CVAN65-1964.jpg#/media/File:F8E_Launch-VF33-CVAN65-1964.jpg.

  10. You are welcome, Bill! Me too - recently found a presentation regarding the design considerations leading to the F-16 on http://www.codeonemagazine.com/f16_article.html?item_id=131. Very interesting! I also found some F8U mock-up photos on an external hard drive - as I said: Crusader nostalgia!
  11. In case you enjoy the general Crusader melancholia you might be interested in http://retromechanix.com/vought-v-383-v-384-day-fighter-original-f8u-crusader-proposal/ as well.
  12. What I found useful are images of resin aftermarket products for the area below the wing. Accuracy is of course dependent whether the aftermarket companies did a good job, but it gives an indication.
  13. These pictures convinced me that the planking was real.
  14. Chris, Paul, thank you very much - in case I win the auction I'll go the Microscale Decal Film way and - if I fail - can always use Paul's decals. Win-win! Beyond that: My first or second model kit ever - Aurora's F-104 Starfighter Prototype (1/110, kit no. 291-29) awaits restoration and my first experiment with Alclad. I obtained original decals via Ebay and now it seems that I may actually able to use them... Thank you very much for your replies!
  15. Currently there is a not too expensive Moonraker for sale on EvilBay - including the very vintage decals which go along the kit. While they do appear unyellowed, is there a fair chance to use decals of that age successfully? While I can remember some member's adventures with decals, I couldn't convince myself that their procedures would work in this case... Thank you in advance for tips!
