  1. Here she is finished, and on the new photography display that I sorted today! And she is fully rigged. For anyone who wants to learn how to rig, I would recommend getting an Eindecker! Regards Justin
  2. Hi all, Not much interest! But alas its all completed. Will have more in the RFI section shortly! Regards Justin
  3. I understand this David, it was meant more of an "in jest" statement. Will remember to make that clearer in my future posts!
  4. Thanks guys, Glad I didn't buy it now!!!!! Well big brother is watching, can't access many torrent sites as Sky broadband block them!
  5. The last bit done, now ready for painting. Martin its a cracking little kit, I have had a busy weekend and I still managed to build whole model. This would be easily finished in two sittings, one to build and one to paint! Plus it really does fall together easily. Now the question, do I paint just the recognition stripe, seems a bit boring or do I go with the number as per the second picture below? I believe this was during Op Deadlight. Regards Justin
  6. Well, it didn't take long, No modelling yesterday, but some this morning. I will be adding some hand rails to the front of the fin, a single handrail and stanchions on the fore casing and then rigging after painting Thanks for looking guys, Justin
  7. Hi Infofrog, Nice start but I agree with Jonners a tad too dark on the wood, looking forward to more mate!
  8. Thanks guys, I think it depended on where the boats were constructed, two main yards from what I have found so far, and after the initial designs a number of variants were explored, so to speak. Regards Justin
  9. Looks cracking so far, nice scratching on the engines!
  10. Hi all, A nice simple one to get me started on my U-Boat fest. The box, The sprues, I love boats they take no time to build! Ten minutes later, The fit was fantastic! More soon! Thanks for looking, Justin
  11. Thats an impressive rigging job Callum! And I thought WW1 biplanes were sometimes a tad excessive! And in 1/700 too!
  12. Holy brown stuff! Thats an epic amount of etch, I would be cross eyed by the second fret!
  13. I found the bottles on evil bay as a cheaper alternative to the reaper or vallejo ones. 50x10ml for under a tenner I think.
  14. All the decals are done, Next to make it look used! Once that and the Matt varnish applied then the rigging! Regards Justin
  15. Your prop is looking good winenut! Mine needs a bit more tweaking as I rubbed a wee bit too vigorously with the buffer this afternoon! But lots more progress today! I missed the sink mark on the tail! Doh! All looking a wee bit too clean! Next is a coat of Klear and then some washes! to dirty that engine especially! But on another note, as a newbie to the famed airbrush I initially didn't have a good set up to get my paint airbrush ready as I use Revell acrylics. So I had a good search on the net and bought these; Just like the Vallejo dropper bottles! I decant using syringes and add some Tamiya thinner et voila I have airbrush ready paint and the original Revell tub for brush painting! And on a side note the Revell metallics airbrush superbly! Thanks for looking, Justin
  16. Second vote for a really rough sea dio!
  17. Don't know about more interest, it may be the same analogy as buying a new car thats not vey common, suddenly you see loads!
  18. Indeed, in my view its a WW2 boat.
  19. None saw wartime service, but two were completed before the war ended. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphion_class_submarine Regards Justin
  20. Thanks winenut, The prop was painted with revell ochre acrylic, then sepia and burnt umber oil paints applied from the boss outward. Once you have the prop covered, use the brush without paint in lighter strokes in the direction you want the grain to appear. Finally I take one of the wife's nail buffers and smooth the finish very gently when it's dry, which does take around 4-5 days(still have that part to do) The cockpit was done the same way. Then a coat of klear and paint the prop boss last. Hope this helps, Regards
  21. This is all I could find so far, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-48-SR-71-PILOT-RSO-SEATED-FIGURES-TESTORS-ITALERI-YF-12-SR71-SR-71A-SR-71B-/360752903206 A bit pricy! But ended! But maybe look at astronauts in flight suits as I believe they both wore David Clarke suits. Hope this helps a little!
  22. A bit of progress today, Will hopefully have the undercoat done tonight! This has really fallen together, not much work to be done on the fit at all, really surprised and loving this build. And all ready for the booth, Regards Justin
