  1. Hi all, Well this has proved a wee bit of an epic for me lately, having got really pee'd off with the model for a plethora of reasons I have decided to finish the rails and nameplate and call this one done! Here she is; More in the RIF section to follow. Regards Justin
  2. Didn't find anything on the 12 AF but did find this; http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=33151
  3. Yeah I couldn't find a website either, Let us know how you get on, Regards Justin
  4. That's turned out brilliantly Neal, Regards Justin
  5. You could try this email address, decs8a@hotmail.com or his partner, elpatocastel@yahoo.com Don't know if its still working though. Regards Justin
  6. Absolutely stunning, I have a 1/72 in the stash, oh boy that rigging is gonna be fun.
  7. Hi all, Well the decals, are on (what a nightmare, three of the roundels refused to bed down, curled edges no amount of Klear, other gloss, satin and matt varnish or watered down PVA would change them! Britmoddeler to the rescue with the thread "cure for crappy decals"! My thinner of choice and luckily! Tamiya paint thinner worked like a stronger version of Micro set/sol! Phew problem solved! ) All that will be needed now is the washes, pin washes, Klear, highlights and done I think, oh and waiting for the oil on the spinner to dry! Regards Justin
  8. I didn't take your comment as critical, truthful constructive criticism. In my view thats why I put pictures on this forum, for help, advice and constructive criticism. All will hopefully help improve my skills and the quality of my builds. Thanks for the link to the WNW SE5 all I can say is wow! Well its fun! With my hamfistedness just tried to do the outer rigging on the struts, utter fail and broke two of my other lines! So I will repair them before fitting the undercarriage and then will leave the wings as done on this build!
  9. Ha ha, you should have seen my hands during it, my wife did say I should go somewhere private and not to waste it! Thanks Nobby! Gee shucks! I have never had a commission offer before! But I def think WW1 stringbags is my modelling zone now! I agree the Vickers is huge! Well we learn from our mistakes eh! I have made enough with some builds on the past! Thanks for the tip on the rigging, I don't know if I will do this one fully though, building up to it so to speak!
  10. Ok another update, Upper wing and struts on, what fun was had, broke one of the struts lots of fixing jigging and re-jigging, but its there. First bit of rigging done, my first ever go at rigging and I am very happy. Drilled the holes through the bottom wing was an awesome idea, let me tension the rigging and took less time than I thought. Just need to clean up the rigging holes, repaint and touch up some struts. My do some more main rigging, but will rig the tail. The rigging is quite hard to see as it is 0.05mm monofilament fishing line, good strength and some stretch. Pulled it through a sharpie nib to make it black. Hope you all like, Regards Justin
  11. Thanks Nobby and jckspratt1 I really appreciate the time taken to do a quick review/comparison for me. I just had a look at what Roden offer and holy crap, what a range. So I may be picking up some Rodens very soon. I have a 1/28 DR1 in the stash, keep taking it out looking at it, and then putting it away again! Will hopefully have some more pics of the SE5a later.
  12. That's cracking Callum, turned out superbly I didn't realise the small scale either !
  13. Absofrigginlutley! So frustrating, but at least we all know its in there! At present the plan is to secure the rigging thread to the underside of the top wing, drill holes right through the bottom wing, then place the top wing, pull the thread through, attach a small weight to tension it, snip off the excess. Glue in place and then fill/ repaint the underside of the bottom wing. But alas, all good plans never survive first contact with the enemy!
  14. Thanks for the interest and tips guys! What are the Roden kits like? There seems to be a considerable range too. I have a few more old ones in the stash, Frog Vimy, airfix F2B and couple of Veeday models! Those I am not sure they will ever get built! But less chit chat, Some more progress, base coats done and Kleared. Onto sorting the engine, prop and supports. Then onto the start of the rigging. I won't be doing a fully rigged one, just some to give the look………..hopefully! The Vickers has been replaced with a scratch built one, with the outer cover from the airwaves set. Regards Justin
  15. Wow! Ed force one indeed, thats brilliant! I still love Iron Maiden, I think I still have my The Trooper poster in the loft!
  16. That is an absolutely cracking build! Stunning, I really do like the look of the WNW models, but space is a major factor!
  17. Nicely done, I just managed to get one off evilbay and hope I can do half as a good a job as you have!
  18. Ouch, my eyes are going all squinty and unfocused at the thought of rigging a 1/144 strinbag! Its hard enough in 1/72!
  19. That is looking great, the two tone is particularly good, Regards Justin
  20. Looking much better Callum, def a closer representation of the real thing in my humble opinion. Regards Justin
  21. Love it, a 1/1 scale pulse rifle! Where did you get it? Is it still made? Following with interest!
  22. That sounds like a man quoting from his own experience? Will do thanks for the heads up!
  23. Fantastic, the base foliage is awesome too! Regards J
  24. Hi all, Well we now have something that resembles a SE5! The cockpit detail has been almost completely lost when the fuselage went together! But you can still see the seat and lap belt, but my camera refuses to focus on the interior! Knew I should have taken a pic before I joined the fuselage! Here she is so far; The fuselage, wings and tail fell together, really enjoying this! Regards J
