  1. Wow! I had to double check the scale as the detail is awesome.. and that buccaneer ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜. Stay safe!
  2. Ahh so they are..The decals were one if i remember, but was for the first F15e into LN back in 1992, looking at some of the earlier pictures, the highlights may have been flipped. I also note the colour stripe on the tail is in a different order to the image I used? Looks like they like to keep us on our toes๐Ÿ˜‚ I had to gather the numbers and make the top stripe out of spare bits as I wanted this to be a more modern jet with the latest sensors etc..
  3. The main issue I had was the weight of the wings after handling for masking and painting etc caused the 2 halfs of the fuselage to split apart slightly. Anyone making one in future- add some card to the inside to strengthen it.
  4. Great how every aircraft in the airwing gets a little screen time too... and they were all colourful!
  5. Awesome! Hope I did a good job of it
  6. Finished this morning, my latest build, Italeri's 1/72 C130J. Plenty of inaccuracies / suspect fit in places, as well as the size made this tricky. Painted in Tamiya paint, I was real happy with the finish, but then disaster when clear coat was applied, it changed to a much darker shade and resembled the old US airforce dark green scheme seen on the C5 Given time is not an issue and I have little else to do, I re painted it all again. Not as good as my first attempt as its a bit darker.. Slight bit of decal silvering too as they were applied direct to the matte paint, but hey-ho! 7. Hase 1/72 F15e, built out of the box with the addition of the XtraDecal Lakenheath pack. Built as 91-318 492's boss jet which Ive seen many times low level in Wales. Painted in Tamiya paints, this was a joy to build. 8. Bit of a fun diorama that came about after picking up a Revell 1/144 F14a from hobbycraft for a fiver. Italeri 1/72 F14a with aftermarket superscale "Oceana tomcats" Decals, and an AIrfix 1/72 Zero built out of the box. Tomcats 200 & 203 as I couldn't make 202 with the decals I had - However after watching the scenes over and over again it was 200 that was launched and 200 fired the missile to splash the zero! Base made from a bit of old decking and filler. Painted in a mix of Tamiya and Humbrol. 9. Both are Airfix- The 190A-8 is Kit AO1020. Love the markings on it!
  10. My latest build is the Airfix Halifax Biii. This is a re boxed old kit and it shows with minimal detail and questionable fit. Painted in a mix of Tamiya and humbrol Paints and using the Box decals which silvered on the Coding I have built the Halifax as a Royal Australian Air Force 436 squadron B Mkiii- Lilly of the Lamplight. This particular aircraft MZ296, was lost on the 15 October 1944 while returning from a raid on Duisburg, after sustaining flak damage. It was reported are all crew got out. With a few German fighters in my stash, I decided on a scenario where it had a close call with a Fw190. This was a nice little kit and was painted using the German range of Humbrol enamels. First time attempting battle damage, so I kept it fairly light with a bit of an oil fire and a fuel leak... Im happy to say it limped home on this occasion Loads of pictures sorry, thanks for looking! _DSC0419 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190601_222426 by matt wellington, on Flickr _DSC0421 by matt wellington, on Flickr _DSC0415 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190601_222258 by matt wellington, on Flickr _DSC0427 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190601_175550 by matt wellington, on Flickr _DSC0420 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190601_222403 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190601_222457 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190601_222339 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190601_222139 by matt wellington, on Flickr _DSC0416 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190601_222316 by matt wellington, on Flickr _DSC0426 by matt wellington, on Flickr
  11. Thanks, the base was a ยฃ2 fence cap from wickes with plenty of gloss!
  12. Finally get to post this! 1/72 Revell Tornado GR1 converted to GR4 using the freightdog parts and litening pod. This is built as ZA462 - "027" which was flown through the Mach loop by a friend as his last ever flight on the Tornado. As a thanks for letting me know the times etc, I built this, but have only recently gave it to him. Afterburners may just be for artistic purpose...๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰ lfa7 april 17-16 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20181130_122531 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20181130_122707 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20181130_122846 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20181130_122804 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20181130_143453 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20181130_143612 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20181130_122744 by matt wellington, on Flickr
  13. I think it's more the light as the preshading was done with a pale grey and it can't be seen that much in daylight (it does look dark there ๐Ÿ˜ฒ) I mucked up the cowling a bit and only the outer rigging has been done, but it was only a quick build to keep me occupied inbetween eating turkey! Onto a Halifax now alongside a long term HMS illustrious.. busy busy!
  14. Quick post Christmas build to get 2019 started. Nice and easy straight from the box. Thanks for looking.. 15. Hi Guys! Here is my finished Matchbox Victor, XM715 - Teasin' Tina displayed in her "final flight" during Bruntingthorpe's cold war jets day in 2009. The kit was built straight out of the box, then finished in Humbrol paints and flightpath decals. Slight mistake as at the time of the flight, the Meldrew nose art had been removed for its re paint, so its a mix of then and what was on there last Saturday ( im lucky enough to volunteer at Brunty) For future reference if anyone wants to build hernas she is now- she no longer has any stencilling, just the nose art, ejection triangles, serial number and some of the underwing stripes. Easy build, really enjoyed it IMG_20190101_104939 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190101_120652 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190101_120928 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190101_120600 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190101_120544 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190101_120514 by matt wellington, on Flickr IMG_20190101_120442 by matt wellington, on Flickr 2019-01-01_12-53-18 by matt wellington, on Flickr
  16. Thanks all! I wish I put a bit more effort in on the base now! Never mind, its filed away on the shelf as done now!
  17. Fantastic build and thanks for taking the time to show the techniques for the metal!
  18. Thank you! Not sure of its accuracy as the instructions only showed the one side of the ship, so the port side was carried out using a number of various reference images, all seemed to be different! It was only a training exercise to test new techniques but I look forward to working with a bigger scale now! Ive gone back to aircraft for now, but will start a trumpeter type 23 once the tornado is build as a long term background build..
  19. Evening! This is my first entry in the maritime section & other than a few cars, all I have ever built are 1/72 aircraft. With a 1/350 Illustrious complete with full PE in the stash I needed something to practice some new techniques on, enter the Belfast! 1/600 is far too small for my fat fingers, but I really enjoyed figuring out the build order in order to make painting easier, along with the weathering and building the base. I was surprised with how much detail this little kit had and cant wait to get stuck in on the bigger kits. The base is a bit rough around the edges, but it was just a case of carve out a hole and and see what I could come up with, pretty happy with it for a few hours work! hope you like! 20. I Picked this kit up in Antics for ยฃ6 and unfortunately it is a case of you get what you paid for! The box art looked good though... The instructions suggested that the parts were detailed.. They were not. There was no detail whatsoever, just a blank shape of a lynx. Smaller parts could have been mistaken for offcuts of sprue! The decal sheet on first glance looked like it could have justified the cost of the kit with a nice clear colourful black cat, but on further inspection there were no Royal Navy markings, or any stencilling.. The clear plastics are about 2mm thick and of terrible quality, & I did consider painting them black, there was noting to see inside anyway! It will come as no surprise that the fit was pretty poor. Being a tight git, I wasn't throwing this away although it has sat 1/2 built for some time, so without further delay, here is the finished kit, officially the worst model I have ever built! If you see this box put it back down, 2018-08-19_06-45-55 by matt wellington, on Flickr Airbrushed with Tamiya paints, a few decals from the spares box & Displayed in the "bow" position.. squint and it almost looks like a Lynx!
