  1. Thanks for the kind words. I now have the P.24B back on the bench having just finished a series of Bulgarian Bf-109's in the STGB. If you're interested you can see the full series here: Ray
  2. Hi Alex, Glad you like them. Certainly gave me some inspiration to build the 109 series. Next up is to finish the P.24B. Ray
  3. I started this GB with no intent to build four and yet here it is completing my journey of Bf-109's in Bulgarian Service. The gap is now filled so we can show the complete series: Bf-109 E3 Spring 1941 Bf-109 G2 Summer 1943 Bf-109 G6 Autumn 1944 Bf-109 G6 1946-1947 Thanks again to the hosts for this most enjoyable GB and everyone else for following along. Gallery images can be found here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235094093-messerschmitt-bf-109-stgb-gallery/&do=findComment&comment=4182705 See you on another build shortly. Ray
  4. Messerschmitt Bf-109 G2 Strela His Majesty's Air Army (VNVV) "Green 1" Bulgaria Summer 1943 1/48 Eduard Bf-109 G2 + Kora Decals Build Log can be found here: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235098083-part-4-a-quiver-of-bulgarian-arrows-filling-the-gap-148-eduard-bf-109-g2/ Ray
  5. You get two Sprue D's with the canopy cut out and detail to suit the internal armoured windscreen allowing you to do a Vb with this feature and the more usual Vc. No extra wing though so you cannot do two Vc's. Remember this boxing is for Mk. V's flown by US pilots hence the Vb internal armour windscreen provided for a couple of the kit's scheme options. One Sprue C for the more normal Vb external armoured windscreen. So what can you make out of this boxing: Option A: One external armoured windscreen Mk Vb and one Vc Option B: One internal armoured windscreen Mk Vb and one Vc Ray
  6. I do not want to stop any up to date commentary on this aircraft and a specific answer to your question, however, you may find the discussion previously had on this aircraft from June 2015 interesting. Edgar, @Graham Boak and @gingerbob with some input on the mods Vb to Vc and Vc to Vb. Click on the link should take you to the page. Ray
  7. @Scooby Apologies I should add a little more to the story. When you mentioned you had only received two fuselages, I thought I'll check my kit. At first glance it appeared there were only two as the third was inside one of the others. Once I broke it out of the packaging there were in fact three as expected. Ray
  8. Hi Craig, You may recall my joke about doing a G2. Well I found one, so it has to be done. This will complete the Bf-109 single seat versions in Bulgarian service. You can tell I like the type. I must admit though that I am getting Dark Green, Ocean Grey, Medium Sea Grey withdrawal symptoms. Here it is September and not one of those schemes this year. The Eduard's Mk. Vb in the Eagle's Call boxing is calling me. I need a gap somewhere to slot it in. Progress on this one is good. Decals are done. I had a little drama with the Kora decals on the wing uppers. I changed to Micro Set and it gave no adjustment. The decals locked down immediately on hitting the surface. I was able move them into position after some difficulty floating them, The decals did not break but they do stretch. You will note the slightly wavy border. It is not really noticeable, unless you know what you are looking for, yet irritating when I had the solution to the problem. I swapped back to Tamiya Decal Adhesive (Softener Type) under the decals and they behaved very nicely. Fuselage sides and underneath were done this way. I'll encapsulate the decals in a coat of GX-100 and then onto some detail painting and weathering. The Bulgarian G2's had some stenciling in Cyrillic characters - now that's a challenge coming up. Ray.
  9. That's the bulk of the painting done: Gave it what I call a "dirty mottle" typical of the Bulgarian aircraft. We will let that cure overnight and then a GX100 gloss coat. Ray
  10. Paul, my malware software will not allow the image to show as it warns about a trojan. Every time I enter my thread it offers that warning. Maybe edit it to a link or delete.
  11. And if you can't decide on a scheme and want a clean machine and a museum example you have the San Diego USS Midway F-4B display (BuNo 153030) with VF-21 livery on the port side and VF-161 on the starboard side.
  12. Hi Rich, It is great see those parts going together. I really like the surface treatment. As to an E we can only hope. I was ready to buy the ZM F-4E to build a RAAF version and then held off to do the Tamiya F-4B instead. Now, what to do? Are they the old Tamiya or the new Tamiya? The F-14A early model 2016, late model 2021. I still think we will wait some years for and yet it would be a money maker for them. Ray
  13. Hi Alistair, Great concept and well executed. Fantastic to see it finished and in the gallery. Ray
  14. Hi Paul, Looking forward to this one, most probably will finish the current builds within two weeks and then into it. Mind you if Danny's book arrives I might just have to cut a little plastic beforehand. Also, looking forward to your build. Expecting some very nicely executed weathering as usual. I am surprised you're not doing this one. https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/view/1241746 Ray
  15. That turned out to be a productive modelling weekend. Undercoat on and yellows and whites just about ready for masking. Again the whites squares will be masked the right size for the Kora Decals to prevent any show through. I also put a white undercoat under the yellow areas since hidden. Invariably there is something that still needs some work. That seam needs knocking back a touch. Undercarriage is coming together. Assemble, finish the brake lines and they will be ready. The kit wheels are quite nice OOB. All paints are Gunze lacquers. Ray
  16. I am into the research phase. That part I enjoy a lot and a good way to keep active with this project while I finish the current build. First part of the project will be a mini project with the plan to enhance the Tamiya ejection seats without the use of aftermarket. Looking forward to that. A little bit influenced by my MiG-21 build earlier this year when I bought aftermarket painted the seat in the light colours and then decided it should be black, saved money and decided to improve the kit part. This time I am also going to scratch the harness. Any detailed info that you can share on the USN version of the Mk. H-7 would be great. I am across the oxygen bottle variation on USN aircraft and have the http://ejectionsite.com/usnh7.htm site as a reference. I have been picking up some other internet references. However, the BM members usually have other detailed stuff and some commentary on the variation that I am quite interested in. I have decided to pull the trigger and ordered Danny Coreman's book. Ray
  17. Hi James, Interestingly, I checked the first G-6 I built in this STGB thinking I may of missed it. Thankfully, it does not have this problem. This was was from the more recent G-14 set. I wondered if they corrected the issue. I will be interested to take a look at my couple of Friedrich's I have back home in Australia. Ray
  18. Hi Srkirad, Wonderful work in the "one true scale". Good enough for 1/32. One of my favourites as posted in the gallery. So many elements that are exceptional but I especially like that spinner. Ray
  19. Hataka Orange Line Lacquers. First time use and very interested as to how they will perform. For my current PZL P.24B build. Ray
  20. I finished the black on the spinner and then discovered it had the same casting defect as my previous G6 build. Plastic is thinned as you can see at 4 and 7 O'Clock resulting in the spinner cap sitting in from the spinner backplate. The plastic is not pushed in so I built it up with some CA/talc. Sanded, Repaired and ready for painting. I still have my template from the G14 build so used it again doing the same with a double thickness of insulation tape to locate it in position. I then over tape the template to hold it in place and scribe with a needle. The latter is not shown. Next hand cut some canopy masks and masked the interior and painted the interior canopy framing on the main canopy and partially painted areas in the windscreen and rear section. Here is the windscreen and rear section with internal masks removed ready to glue in place. I do like the W&N Art Masking Solution. It is paintable and great for infill and tricky shapes. I find it much more controllable than the thicker types like Mr Masking Sol. Be careful though, I do not dip my canopies in Future/Klear and have no issue with this W&N product, but, it does have an ammonia smell which may indicate that it could damage your nicely dipped canopy. I again replaced the solid tip wing tip nav lights with shaped clear sprue. I made some exhaust shrouds from brass shim. Joint checking. The light grey is Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 on the usual suspects. I will scribe the longitudinal rear fuselage seams. Gunsight, canopies, final check and tidy up and we are ready for some paint. Ray
  21. Hi Darryl, Looks wonderful. I like the variation in colours and subtle panel line wash and the smaller details such as the canopy wear, exhaust staining and the harness hanging out of the cockpit. Well done. Ray
