A really nice set.
I remember seeing the Young's Brewery Dreys in Wandsworth when I was a kid.
Best regards

The Radar cone is looking much better. Did you polish it back or repaint it?

Really nice progress, the Quinta studio decals really bring the cockpit alive and the finish you have on the intake ducting is spot on.
looking forward to seeing more on this and your F18.

Thanks Keith. The chassis and engine (this is just the block/head and g'box) was from Richard Griffiths. Richie is not on Britmodeller as far as I know. He can be found on Facebook and he also runs the IPMS F1 & Motorsport SIG, again on Facebook. He does have a lot of resin parts for MkI and MkII Escorts. I used his Pinto engine for the MkII Mexico I built alongside this MkI.
The decals are from Motobitz.

Thanks for the info Steve.

Sorry Keith, I missed this one! Its 125mm x 60mm so you were close. Note that there is a bench the full length on each side but this should be able to be omitted if needs be. Good luck. It's a great kit 👍🏻
Andrew
No problem Andrew, thank you for the information.

The cuts made to remove the kit parts are critical and there’s a cast flaw on one of the intakes (which Cris at Zacto owns up to in his instructions) and indicates the easiest way to fill the resultant gap. I made all my cuts with the issue in mind thinking I could alleviate the problem with the foreknowledge in mind, nope it still ends up having a gap (although slight) at the rear edge of one Zacto engine intake where it meets the kit part.
The instructions aren’t very clear on how to cut the upper wing outflow vents, I cut one of mine (the first one) in the wrong place and had to re-install and fill some kit plastic.
The open wing Bladders have to be thinned where they join the upper part of the fuselage to lower them or a step will occur. I’m not sure if the closed wing bladders have the same issue.
if you haven’t got them, definitely go get the Reskit F-14 landing gear with wheels these things are a work of art all on their own. I took the ones I bought to a club meeting for show and tell and the folks there were jaw dropping gob smacked, I did nothing to my landing gear but paint them and glue them on…they even fit the Aires gear bays like a glove.
thanks for the encouraging feedback/ positive comments! Thanks very much for taking the time to write this. it will be very helpful when I put mine together. I will look out for the extra sets you mention.
Best regards
Keith.

very nice indeed.
Is there any thing to watch out for when installing the Zacto intake set?

I'm glad you got the paint sorted, it looks very nice from here.
I would be interested to hear about your experiments with the different paint types when you get around to them.
Best regards,
Keith.
