  1. Thanks Vinnie. Appreciate your kind comment. Now you have ventured this far, maybe I could persuade you to view my Routemaster Bus with added lighting HERE ?
  2. Thanks. Appreciate your comment. I think everyone knows how basic the effects were on the TV show and this is what I was trying to achieve. I've seen some builds that use up-to-date effects but I think they look better on the more recent Starships. Live Long and Prosper........
  3. That is great to hear. If I can encourage others to use their imagination and bring these kits to life, then I am a happy soul. Sometimes you do not have to make it perfect or too accurate to be proud of your build. Making it unique to yourself is the pleasure. Good luck with your build. Hope to see it on the forums.
  4. Thanks Steve. I've just noticed that the flags are the wrong way around............Shows that it is one of my earlier builds I suppose.
  5. Thanks, Steve. The larger the picture, the more you can see the flaws..........
  6. Thanks, Chris. Like the original TV series, it is very basic.
  7. Thanks Paul. Appreciate your kind comment.
  8. Thanks Paul, for the appreciation. I can see areas that I could have improved on and it may be nice, in the future, to do this kit again using an airbrush instead. This is how I remember the ship (though I wasn't actually there at the time) so I understand what you were saying about the paint scheme and agree with you.
  9. Thanks Westy. Appreciate your kind comment. Phew! I must admit that this was a tough one to add lights to due to the lack of space available, especially around the front and rear light panels. Basically I used mainly 1.8mm Led's throughout and I used Kynar (on Ebay) wire as it is so thin and flexible. For the front lights I used a combination of clear and diffused Led's as this gives a varied amount of brightness (ie: side lights not as bright as main or headlights). For the indicators I used orange Led's with a flashing Led put in line as this makes them all flash at the same time instead of using flashing one's that would flash at different times. The main problem that I had was to fit all of the lights so that they cleared the space between the bumper and footwell. At the rear I had to shorten the width of the two accessory boxes so that I could fit the lower group of lights. Also I had to find a way to route the wiring looms so that they would go through the bodywork and up in between the accessory boxes. Again, the side panel lights were a real pain and there wasn't any room for the Led 'stalks' to fit so I really had to fiddle about with it to make it fit. The best advice I can give you is to be very patient, look at my build pictures, decide to what level of lights you are going to fit and only fit everything when you are sure they will fit/work. Also, test, test, test the lights throughout. The easiest part was fitting the cab roof blue lights (Blue flashing 5mm Led's) and the internal cabin lights as there was enough space to fit and route the wire. I hope this helps somewhat and look forward to seeing the results in the forums.
  10. This is how I added lights to my build of the Enterprise many moons ago. The lighting is quite basic and should be a fairly easy project to do for anyone wanting to get into lighting their kits. As the original series model of the ship was quite basic with its lighting effects, I used some poetic justice while still trying to keep some of the effects from the TV series. Thanks for viewing and I hope it encourages others to have a go. There is a video of the finished kit HERE
  11. Hi Everyone This is one of my earlier builds that I made years ago of the original Star Trek ship and added lights to. The electrics are quite basic but I achieved the effects that I wanted. I found it quite easy to do as there was plenty of space for the wiring, etc, and after looking on the Internet it seemed that strobe lighting had not been invented when they created the model for the series, so I just used basic Led's. There is a video that I made HERE and some pictures of how I added the lighting in the WIP forum. Thanks for viewing.
  12. Hi Everyone This is the Revell 1/225 HMS Victory that I made quite a while ago which was all hand painted as I hadn't discovered airbrushes at the time. Oh how I missed out! One of the few builds that I did not add lights to. Hope you like it and thanks for viewing.
  13. This is the Revell 1/83 Mayflower that I made quite a while ago (pre my adding lights to everything) but never got around to posting. It was all hand painted as I hadn't discovered airbrushes at the time. Hope you like it and thanks for viewing.

  16. Hi While renewing all of the pictures of the builds that I have done because of this Photobucket saga, I came across a few pictures of the build in progress for this kit. They show some of the details that are not visible when the kit was finished. The link to the finished build can be found in the RFI section or by clicking HERE Thanks for viewing.
  17. Hi While renewing all of the pictures of the builds that I have done because of this Photobucket saga, I came across a few pictures of the build in progress for this kit and thought it may be an idea to post them. They may be helpful to others who have this kit and want to do something similar. The link to the finished build can be found in the RFI section or by clicking HERE
  18. Actually, Pete, I did see some video's of people using foil. I just thought I'd ruin the grill if I tried it for the first time, so let it be. As Manuel used to say....'I learn, I learn.......I from Barcelona.....'
  19. Thanks John. Adding the engine was a sort of after-thought and it was too late to change the spring settings. But I may just have a cunning plan.............watch this space
  20. Well, this was a shock for me too and very annoying. Anyway, I have now downloaded all of my pictures (even though I had copies) and uploaded one final picture (shown below). Anyone who visits my Photobucket account will now be greeted with this message. Maybe others would be wise to do the same? I will, over time, try to edit my posts on here to include the pictures again. I am a patient man but I am not a mug. Take care folks.
  21. Hi folks. It's been a while since I last posted anything as I have have to concentrate more on my business. This is one of the many kits that I received from good ol' Santa. I decided not to add any lighting or anything and to pretty much build it out-of-the-box with my own colour scheme (Ford Gold). This is the first Ming kit that I've made and, overall, I was quite pleased with everything. The only downside was that no chrome parts were included and as these kits cost that little bit more, I was disappointed as Revell include chrome parts in a lot of their kits for less cost. Anyway, I had an old Routemaster Bus engine going spare so I thought about mounting it on the back of the truck to give it a payload. Also added are chains, rope and wood supports to keep it secure. I have included some section builds in the WIP forum to show some of the details that are hidden when assembled. Thanks for viewing. It's always appreciated.
  22. Hi everyone. It's been a while since I last posted as I've had to concentrate on getting my new design business going. I have just finished this nice little number from Meng. I haven't done one of their kits before and wanted to see how well they were moulded, etc. I must say the extra cost seems to be worth it as there was no sign of flashing and the plastic compound was nice to work with. Detail was pretty good though some chrome parts would have been appreciated (especially the grill section). For the price this was a disappointment as Revell include it in some of their kits which are cheaper. Anyway, below are some pictures of certain sections created but before fitting. I didn't have time to photograph the build step-by-step but took some to show some of the interior details before they were hid by the assembly. The finished product will soon be on the RFI forum but I have included a taster below. Thanks for looking.
  23. Amazing! Some really good effects to bear in mind. Love the atmosphere that was created
