  1. Very precise work with those shafts Jeff. Stay Safe beefy
  2. With the history of this ship being built by the Italians I was going for the green because of that Jeff but put the Belfast what if up if you like gives me an idea of what to aim for in my colour range or if I need to get some supplies in. I was also going to ask @Faraway Jon what colour did you use for the blue hull, the colour chart calls for a grey deck but I was thinking of doing the red brown linonium colour of modern Russian ships just for something different. What do you reckon. Stay Safe beefy
  3. Well as a bit of a MOJO restorer I am making a start on this one with York nearing completion hopefully by next week for Perth Scot Nat's and Great Western having some fit issues also other things from real life I need to get back at the bench but in short bursts with a puppy to train and not much time on my hands for now. I know @Faraway built this kit a couple of years back when it first came out and I liked the look of it, so it has been in the stash for only a little while now and it looks like a short build one (Famous Last Words) So made up the hull and some of the superstructure parts and the main guns for now we will see how far I can get with this out of the box. Thinking of going with the green lower hull colour rather than the red oxide one. Stay Safe beefy
  4. Great start to this build Rob really like the conversion work another stunner in the making I think. Stay Safe beefy
  5. This has really come along Jon I am sure you will cope with all that rigging when it comes down to it just remember deep breaths. Stay Safe beefy
  6. Sincere Condolences I know what your going through having recently lost my farther but your build of this ship will be a very fitting tribute to him. Stay Safe beefy
  7. Looking great there Jeff very nice smooth finish on the hull good to see it progressing. Stay Safe beefy
  8. No there is a novel idea John just stop buying kits and rebuild all the older ones. Yeah OK I know Pike you stupid boy. Great improvement on the first version. Stay Safe beefy

  13. So long time away from this one was trying to concentrate on completing my York build but to much going on for that. Been missing having a dog around the house so have been walking some up at the local Animal rescue centre and adopted a little 6 month old Cocker Spaniel on Good Friday. As some of you will know both my parents have not been well with Dementia these last couple of years and sadly we lost dad after his long battle against Lewy Body on Easter Sunday. So lots of stuff to sort out and a puppy to train means not much time at the bench but it is what keeps me going when feeling down. So a bit of time on this old kit is just the break I need before more forms have to be filled in. Deck painted and inner walls bulwarks I think and making a start on the masts. Stay Safe beefy
  14. Great work Jon those DC racks and DC 3D from Steve D really make a big difference to this old kit your shelf must be filling up buy now. Stay Safe beefy
  15. I would not bet on that mind Sam Gent's thanks for the kind feedback. Well looking at the bridge/ superstructure I think I have done another beefy BOO BOO. I had not realised that the Graf Zeppelin had a larger bridge for and aft compared to the Peter Strassre kit I am using a case of not checking first again. So going from the plans you get with the 3D Kagero book I will extend this shortfall the aft is just a case of adding another AA platform not to much I think but the forward control area looks a tad more work. Just hope this doesn't take me another 4 years. Stay Safe beefy
  16. Great build up work there Jeff slowly coming together. Stay Safe beefy
  17. Those cutters are a work of art amazing details. beefy
  18. Go Faster stripes added using White, Hellgrau 50 and Dunkelgrau 51 will need some touch up around the sticky out bits. Boat deck dry fitted for now. Stay Safe beefy
  19. You might want to have a look at this link for all the measure camouflage colours http://www.shipcamouflage.com/ I think most US Navy ships had the decks painted blue 20-B from 1942 Also someone already building the Northampton is @Themistokles in a very small scale. Best of luck with your build beefy
  20. BIG RE-START 22/03/2024 time to clear the shelf. Well if you thought HMS York took me a while this one has been going on even longer 4 years and counting where did that time all go to. Anyway back underway as nearly completed the York build lots of figures to paint. been painting some of the camouflage on the hull and gave a coat of white to the boat decks before setting in place not much to see in there. Also got myself some reference material to go from. Stay Safe beefy
  21. Even modern ships have rust just look at Northumberland recent visit to the Tyne where she was built 30 years ago rust streaks down the hull but above quite clean not the best photo but I was on the opposite side of river unfortunately. Rodney is looking great BTW taking notes for me Nelson build. beefy
  22. I picked one up in the kit swap at Perth Scot Nat's last year for £20 think it is a re-box with the red labels. You have to grab them when you can. beefy
  23. Well not much of a group build person me but this has turned out great Stuart like the base and subtle weathering great job. Stay Safe beefy
