  1. I use boards similar to this https://www.jewson.co.uk/p/recticel-insulation-eurowall-cavity-board-1200-x-450-x-50mm-IREWC050 Easily cut to smaller size with a saw, then make to whatever thickness, shape you like, I coat with with some pva adhesive to seal it. I leave the foil on as it is on the underside.
  2. Never had any problem with Revell, unlike Humbrol which seems to always clog airbrush, last very well as others have said, just wish they would update the range of colours. I use 1:1 with a 75% water 25% flow enhancer premix.
  3. Stunner, like the weathering and the photos.
  4. Yeah, Photoshop, never tried doing a diorama, on my to do list for next year.
  5. Trumpter USMC LAV-25 Piranha Really just out of the box Trumpter Piranha based in 1991 desert colours.
  6. Thanks guys, Yes, see what you mean Joachim, will make some alterations. Cheers Gordon
  7. Airfix Hawker Hurricane Mk1 1/24 A50167 First attempt at a larger scale kit, it went together not too badly especially after purchasing it and reading it was so old. It has had its first prang already as I have managed to knock the tailwheel off when taking the photos. I will also need to remember and take photos of the cockpit during the build as I cannot get the camera close enough now it is built. All build straight out of the box.
  8. Subtly weathered, some nice additional touches in there.
  9. Thanks again Lee, yes the LRDG has the 7 figures also bought an North African Tower from Fields of Glory Models so will need to try an do my first diorama.
  10. Thanks Badder and Lee for comments on figures, by coincidence I have just purchased a Vallejo set of paints and a wash, I will be doing the Tamiya LRDG shortly which has a number of figures so, hopefully, I can get them a bit better. I do like the figures, as it gives a sense of scale, might be better with dogs or chickens where the face is not so important.
  11. Camel looks in good health, the BMP-1 not quite so, they go well together.
  12. Impressive especially when you see the 1p piece beside it.
  13. Tamiya Krupp Protze with 3.7cm Pak 1/35 35259 Picked up cheap on the internet, an old kit I know, but passes my time in this terrible winter weather. I wish I could get the faces better as I feel they let the model down, however I do like them in, as it gives a better sense of scale. Any comments to help me improve will be welcomed.
  14. Stunning, when you see this level of quality makes me wonder why I bother. Oh well onwards and hopefully upwards.
  15. Airfix Pzkw VI Ausf.B 'King Tiger' Tank 1/76 A03310 Not done too much armour but thought I would have a first attempt using hair spray and sea salt crystals, in my humble opinion the technique seemed to work OK. Generally quite happy with this one, but as always hope to do better with the next one.
  16. Thanks for the warning on Maskol and Klear/Future, will still get some just to try, but looking now like Copydex is the way forward at the moment. Once again thanks for help.
  17. Many thanks guys, will try they pva and copydex as I have some in the house and see what works best. I will need to get some Maskol as looking at the pictures it works very well. I just don't want the paint below the panels coming off after I remove them, mind you I suppose I could always touch them up.
  18. I am currently building the Airfix 1/24 scale Hurricane, I would like to leave as many of the panels loose as possible but obviously it would be much easier to paint the model with them in place. I am looking for suggestions of an adhesive which I could use to temporary fit the panels but would allow them to be removed after painting. The only thing I can think of at the moment is Blu Tac. Any suggestion would be welcome.
  19. Airfix 1/76 Pzkw VI Ausf.B 'King Tiger' Tank (A03310) with European Ruined Cafe (A75002) First attempt at any military kit for well over 40 years, since taking back up the hobby it has been mostly aircraft, thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the kit went together very well, need to brush up on the weathering skills. The ruined cafe which was picked up cheap on the Airfix site and provided a few hours of enjoyable painting. I will need to try and progress and do some proper dioramas.
  20. Paint scheme and markings certainly make it stand out.
  21. Great read and great project, look forward to seeing them both finished.
