Well someone got more than they paid for today.
The racecourse at the back of my garden a virgin hot air balloon regularly take off during the summer, as it did today. I was at my sisters house just outside Worcester and the ballon was making its way across Worcester. Then a flipping spitfire on its way to the battle proms in Malvern I would guess, pulls up below it a gives it full throttle climbing at what looked like 45 degrees with a gentle roll right past the ballon. It then level out pulls back the throttle and carries on towards Malvern.
the noise was beautiful!
imagine getting a ballon ride and then getting a play past of a spitfire out of the blue!

A new airfix mosquito and tempest in 1/72! Very exciting.... I wonder if they arrive before my preordered Beauforts!

Today was a painful day.....
I had to stand at the till try to calm an angry customer down, while the beautiful sound of a griffon engine roared over the store. It’s was the Mk XIX doing its fly over of the Hereford hospital..... the urge to just leg it outside like a 5 year old was, almost, completely overwhelming.... only my need to keep my job stopped me.
I then worked out it would have flown right over my house (confirmed later by the girlfriend ‘yeah something really noisy went right over us’)..... today will go down as a bad day.

No modelling for a while as the basement is now flooded, sad times

If anyone is interested in navy subjects, anything that’s been part of or under command of a navy please pop a long to the GB chat and have a look at ‘in the navy GB’ I would be very happy if it got into the the vote.
(this is not canvassing for votes just trying to see if there’s enough interest to get it to the voting stage 😃)

a step in the right direction, today i re-homed the stash. It’s just getting too damp in the cellar and a number of decal sheets have been lost. Now summer holidays are out the way and set up for Christmas is done I hope to get some modelling done.... wish me luck!

Duxford is amazing I love it there but never been to a show!
i remember going once to fairford with ATC to ‘support’ but only really remember watching the planes! Every other time my mum and dad were taking us on our holiday on that weekend, it’s like it was planned! And adding insult to the injury we used to drive past the air balloon pub to get to the ferry, which always had a huge poster advertising it!
They appear excited, lets see if it lasts a whole day of looking at aircraft!

turns out we just need noodles, who knew

Can anyone suggest another photo hosting platform? My Flickr is messing me around saying I have too many uploads

I have been gifted a Airfix wellington for my birthday from my lovely children! Gosh it looks a highly detailed and beautiful kit! Shame it’s in my stash and not someone else’s 😂
text from ex wife on my birthday:
hi, your daughter has informed me we MUST buy you an ‘Airfix wellington’.... how do I do this, she won’t let it go.
I of course sent her a link within seconds.
good to see my 8 year old has my back, though it’s noted my son (turned 7 five days after me) remained quiet about the whole thing

I feel the need to tell you all I actually built something today, in fact that’s not accurate! Somethings!
they are nothing special but I got them buttoned up... not my finest work but fun!
I’m back in the game!!

@Biggles87 ha, yeah will that might still be my next problem.... or just trying to finish everything I started over a year ago e.g. the 9 spitfires!

What a lucky guy I am, my lovely girlfriend surprised me with an airfix b-17 for my birthday! Now I just need space and time to build it!

Currently on a coach to Edinburgh to see my mate and just had a low fly over by two typhoons (at a stop around the Peak District) they must have known I was here

My life has been royally screwed by two people I trusted with my life
in taking a time out

So I have taken a small break and will be back to my castle Bromwich production line soon!
Reason for break: Peaky Blinders series 1-3, I got utterly hooked! I'm currently rocking in a corner waiting for series 4 to come out....
work will I'll hopefully recommence this weekend now that I have a new pot of HU 78.... on to possibly 4 vb's and a vc (made from a ix that's getting chopped up... why not) followed by an Eduard mk ix

I have hit a lull... why!.... I was doing so well!
i have a number of builds very near completion but cant find the drive... I just stood in the garage with a can of white primer and a wild cat kit all laid out but just didn't want to spray!? Odd.
i currently have far too much in my head at the moment but unfortunately no real way of clearing it any time soon... even with modelling, which is my normal go to.
this sucks

Hi Rob, we all suffer from this from time to time. It's all the other stuff going round in your head so you can't concentrate. Something's you can deal with yourself, they are things like replacing a tap, they need to be put right, but you know it's going to be a problem doing it, so you put it off. Your brain knows this, so keeps reminding you. It's best to just get this off your back, and get it done. I put things like this off for weeks, but feel so much better when I've done it. It's one thing less to worry about.
Other things are far more serious, like a loved one being very sick. You can do very little other than offer your support and help where you can. You still worry, but it's a different type of concern.
It's when your brain is overloaded that you can't concentrate on the things you enjoy doing. This is why I find modelling important. It's important to me because it's not important if you know what I mean. In these cases, it's just to much trouble to even do simple tasks. Sometimes, I just build a model with no painting like I showed you with that Martlet a couple of weeks back. What we tend to do is just start a new model thinking you will be more interested in a new build. But before you know it, you've come to a halt on that project as well.
When I'm like this, I listen to talking books, or plays on the radio. I find sitting there doing my model whilst listening to a story, a play or a comedy Radio 4 extra helps me relax. Hope this helps, Joe.

Don't worry too much about it (if possible...). We all know how it feels. I've been stuck since mid September as well and I'm still struggling to get back to modelling... I've started a Huey Cobra in the mean time, which also stalled and now I'm trying to finish some of my stalled models, starting with the ones nearest to completion.

A Vote! What to build!
I know now I have unfinished work I should really just finish, but my head is not in that place right now.... so here are some options for a quick build.
- airfix spitfire mk XXII (race scheme as I like it more than the silver)
- airfix dauntless
- hase p-38
- airfix mustang p-51d (RAF option off the med fighters sheet)
- academy p-40, (either with the tiger on or cresswell's AC)
the choice is yyyyyyyoooouuuuurrrss....
