  1. I like the grey Escort, Pat . Some nice details on it . I never saw Gerry racing but I have seen his old Vauxhall's and read some amusing stories about him and his antics ! Keep up the good work in your new place ! Gary .
  2. I've tried a dry fit of the floorpan / body once and it was an extremely tight fit . Even worse to separate them .... so I will wait until the very end to join them together again. Gary .
  3. Thanks Steve . Seems we have experienced the same problems . I have cut the side windows from the main frame and hopefully they will fit , even though the glue area is very slim . Photos are in the WIP section BTW. Gary.
  4. @triumphfan I'm building the Belkits Escort and the windows sit too low inside the bodyshell , even though they clip into place firmly. Just wondered how you faired with yours ? Gary .
  5. I agree with all the other nice comments @Spiny. The bit of BMF ing I did on the 240Z was quite satisfying to do - in the same strange way that i find decalling satisfying . I like the flocking too . Gary.
  6. @keefr22I was lucky enough to follow the grey Escort heading out to the first stage . All I'll say is I don't know what other road users would make of his tyre warming antics ! But I was impressed ! Gary.
  7. I reckon the Escort might be the most expensive . They might be getting away from where they started out , but those modified mk 2 's are works of art . It makes a change to see rally cars on tarmac , Keith . They really do pedal their cars hard !! Gary.
  8. More top rally cars near to me yesterday as the East Riding Stages Rally took place . Based in Beverly , near Hull and using closed public roads , some of the speeds and late braking approaching the junction I was watching from by the top cars was amazing to see . Here's some interesting cars taking part I thought I would share . Aston Martin Rally GT . Very rare and sounds great . Running in the same class as the Aston was this Porsche 911 GT3. There were some highly modified mk 2 Escorts taking part. David Bogie in a rare appearance This is the interior of the one above . This really is an Escort ! Thanks for looking Gary .
  9. I had not noticed the missing dot over the "i" . Now you've mentioned it I will forever notice it !!! Thanks Keith . Hopefully my solution will work if I have enough area left to take glue . Gary .
  10. @Spiny Hopefully the windows should fit better . A dry fit shows there's not much room for glue though .... Gary .
  11. Finally managed to get back to the Escort today after a few busy weekends . Last weekend was mild enough to be able to gloss coat the body , which has enabled me to progress a bit further . Onto glazing then and I was disappointed to find that , although the one piece windows fit very tightly , they are actually too low to fit the frames . Not so clear on this shot But on this one I have put a knife through the gap to highlight the problem.... You will also notice I have painted the interior semi gloss black . To rectify the window frame drama , I masked the glass up and cut the side windows off the frame so I can hopefully mount them in place separately , and in the correct position . This is where I'm up to now . Side windows cleaned up and black edged with a Sharpie pen . The large front and rear window " rubber " is a combination of Sharpie , paint and a very steady hand and breath holding exercises ! Finally , while researching spotlights , I realised the grille should be aluminium , not chrome , so I popped it out and gave a coat of aluminium paint . Thanks for looking Gary .
  12. Definitely the last picture for me is the best looking gravel set up . I think it's good to see a rally car model kit from a gravel rally . More usually they are all based on tarmac events. Gary.
  13. It's good to see one of these in build . I've had to think long and hard about buying this , and the BTCC Volvo S40 , but I'm resisting the urge as my rally cars only philosophy is kicking in ! Like the others have said this was a special time in British National racing with works teams , top drivers , huge budgets and great racing . This build will bring back some brilliant memories for me . I remember standing in awe in the paddock at Donington Park at the scale of the BTCC back then . More like Formula 1 ! The teams had separate trucks just to carry spare body panels !!! Gary .
  14. When I say " a while " @Spiny I reckon it will be getting on for 25 years ago ! I built a few of this shape Imprezza for my mates and got completely fed up of it . So a revisit after all this time will be interesting . Itll be later in the year though . Gary .
  15. It’s been a while since I last bought this classic kit . This is for a future project 😉 Gary .
  16. That does look good 👍 Gary
  17. Maybe the Monaco Royalty will take pity on your "spray booth " and offer you the use of a one bed flat worth billions that has a tiny view of part of the Grand Prix circuit . Now THAT would be a spray booth ! Gary.
  18. @Vesa Jussila the points system worked well in Monte but not so good this weekend . Good to see Lappi and Fourmaux doing well after all their dramas previously . I reckon winning the British Championship has done Adrien a world of good . Gary .
  19. Brilliant door detailing . It always makes me smile when I see standard door trim in a full blown Delta ! I have to agree with you about the chrome in a bottle . A game changer . Gary
  20. Some serious moddin ( no G ) going on there . I think the stance is just right . Gorgeous wheels . Gary .
  21. It is odd to think of something we remember as only yesterday now being regarded as "Historic" . I also find it frustrating that a talented young driver like George Lepley has to drive a car that was rallied before he was born because he can't seem to get anywhere up the British rally ladder , probably due to a lack of funds to afford to run one of the current "top " cars . Both he and Elliot Payne are among the best up and coming talent in European rallying , in my view . I must say though, Lepley was enjoying the Galant . Gary.
  22. A big thumbs 👍 up from me . Excellent model , great colour . Gary.
  23. Amazing photo @Vesa Jussila ! Full opposite lock , looking through the side window . Love it ! Gary .
  24. The blue really suits the Ferrari and the interior just looks sumptuous ! Excellent work Gary.
  25. I always liked this shape SL and its good to see yours built to Mercedes high standards. Excellent work . Gary .
