Totally agree about the GWH kit. After my experience with their Su-35, Mig-29 and F-15 kits I was a convert and quickly off loaded my Eduard Su-27UB when they announced their intentions. The Kitty Hawk kits come a close second for me, at least those I have had (Su-35 and Su-34) and I had to hold myself off from buying their 27's. I'm still tempted, if only to combine some of the detail features (radar, engines, etc.) with the GWH shell to make for an extra interesting diorama, but the main build would still be GWH. I really hope they follow through with their intention to make an F-14 in 1/48. I know there are plenty of different kits out there but... you know... it's a GWH...

With all of the detail components being built for this kit another AM producer might just as well step in to finish the job with some new fuselage parts that have the actual detail.

Still looking great this. Would really like to know more about what the 'detail set' comprises of.

I'm glad for the B-17F bits, intrigued by the MV-22 bits and perplexed by the SU-33 bits (seriously? was there really anything to add to the Minibase kit?).

In the words of the EMF, it's 'Unbelievable'.
It's almost like each key section of the kit is a full 'project-kit' in it's own right, that in some respects goes beyond what I would expect for investments involving after market parts. The real challenge is going to be finding a way to stop this detail from remaining too hidden and to provide a way where possible to draw the viewer's attention towards the detailed areas without the need for a complete 'maintenance diorama'. I've a few 'ideas' I'm already experimenting with for other builds - including targeted scale lighting etc.

Do you have a plan as to which mrkings you will be painting the A-4/SHAR combo?
If the nose works out ok then my preference would be an Argentine Navy A-4Q. If not, then an Argentine AF A-4C.

I do get a bit fed up with these 'limited releases'. There seems to be more decal sheets available for the B than there are kits and that's just daft. What are the makers of these decals thinking of in terms of kit availability for their subjects?
I already had an Hasegawa A-4C kit so bought a resin nose for originally designed to display the A-4A but appears to suit the basic A-4B. I'm hoping this, along with my own scratch version of the radio blister for the spine, will give me more options to choose from when building a kit to go up against my Kinetic FRS.1.

Cheers mate.
Tough choice that, maybe time to get another kit
My next one is likely to be a VF-154 jet from Iraqi Freedom or B conversion from Enduring Freedom.
I know. It's hard to resist the Tamiya in particular. But I must try... really... I... must... not... buy...another... Tomcat... arrrghh...

Really enjoying this. VF-1 is one of my favourite schemes. I have one Tomcat but two VF-1 schemes to choose from - 1975 Op Frequent Wind or 1991 USS Ranger VF-1 CAG with the rainbow stripes. Oh choices choices

It’s a really nice kit. A bit lacking in the interior department but I’m sure the AM companies will come to the rescue.

Quite a haul for me recently which is unusual since I had been taking my stash in the reverse direction - shedding 2/3 over the last year, mostly because there was no way I'd be able to build what I had especially since an eye condition has started to make close up fine art work more challenging. Quite frustrating really - my distance vision is fine (which is obviously a very good thing) but the eyes can get quite sore with sustained close up focus which is what my models require. Anyway, this year seems to be one of those where the modelling planets are in alignment with a lot of kits I'd only dreamed of landing are all on the way, so I've bagged a few along with a few extra nuggets while awaiting the rest and which will provide some extra insulation while I butcher a perfectly good 1/48 Hasegawa F-14A and Tamiya F-16CJ for 'special' WIP's:
First up, the new Hobbyboss 1/48 MV-22 Osprey, courtesy of @Duncan B at Black Mike Models who got it to me double-fast:
I always liked this strange aircraft and bagged the Italeri kit a few years back but struggled with the idea of all the extra work with re-scribing and the like so let it go in the end. When HB announced their intention to release one I was excited and I'm now thinking on how to shoe-horn the Black Dog set into this kit while hoping to obtain a set of decals for a more colourful subject, such as one of the Special Forces birds.
Next up is the new 1/48 Su-33 from Minibase, courtesy of the good folks at the 'Big H'. I let go of the Kinetic version of this kit a long time ago while 'rationalisng' Sukhoi collection, thinking I should limit myself to one or two Flankers at the top end of the quality spectrum and thought I was off to a sensible start with the acquisition of the exceptional GWH 1/48 Su-27UB. I was then just thinking of getting a Kitty Hawk Flanker B to accompany it but when I saw this kit I was simply blown away by the detail and potential and just couldn't help myself. It's an absolute stunner of a kit. If any AM company manages to up the ante with even more detail to this kit then they deserve a medal.
Next is another of my hotly anticipated kits. The B-17 has been a firm favourite for me since I was a kid and I had 'tinkered' with the Revellogram 1/48 kit before letting it go many years back due to being dazzled by the HKM 1/32 model but equally too intimidated to buy something of that size. So when they announced a quarter scale version I was delighted. The model I always wanted to build was the Memphis Belle (yes, cliched I know but hey ho) and even though they released a 'G' I couldn't pass it up just in case they never got round to an 'F'. At the time I figured modding such a new tool to an 'F' give me a far nicer outcome than trying to bring a Revellogram 'F' up to the HKM standard. But then they announced plans for the F so I let my G go at Christmas and kept my finfgers crossed. It finally landed on these shores last week and @Duncan B got it to me in double-time and I'm now mulling over the AM to add to this. Finally a modern tooling of the 'Belle' I've always wanted.
Next up is one I've been trying to bag for a while now with no luck. I already had the GWH 1/48 F-15C MSIP II ANG but that was destined to be dressed as an F-15A ASAT and I wanted another kit so I could build a 'Shiro Ruyku' Dragon from my Two Bobs set so managed to bag this special edition C for far less than I expected (and far less than I had seen the MSIP and similar kits go for recently).
Next are two sets of ResKit cans for a Tornado F.2 Prototype I have as a WIP and a Eurofighter I have in the stash and . Unfortunately the former were missing the outer parts but the 'Big H' have got replacements out to me in record time so a huge thumbs up from me! The sets are exquisite and for the Tornado in particular provide for some options I had hoped to experiment with but was unable to with the kit parts alone.
Finally, I have received the 3D prints of the base parts for 3 Foxhunter radar sets for Tornado F.2 and F.3 kits that are WIP's and planned. They go with additional detail parts made in finer material.
That's it for now until the HKM 1/48 Lancasters land (will likely go for two of those), followed by the Tamiya 1/48 F-4B (three of those thank you very much!), the Airfix 1/72 Vulcan (if it finally hits the virtual shelves), the Hobbyboss 1/48 Chinook, the Zoukei Mura F-4G and then the Revell 1/48 SR-71. If someone could just get round to tolling a modern 1/48 Buccaneer that'll be me set.

And I was thinking it was just 'me'.
Tried this stuff and it just flaked off so went back to a mix of styrene bits and CA.

To be honest I was never really into that scheme, even after seeing the above pair fly past my modelling window when I lived in Beaconsfield. But the more I see such fantastic builds as these the more I am genuinely warming to it. Bravo ilius!

Is there much difference between Hasegawa’s A-4B and C kits in terms of general shape?

I'm hoping they do VF-111 CAG as well as Vf-51. That'll be the two most colourful schemes.
So, I've now had a chance to take a closer look at the video above (couldn't in the week as my eyes weren't working well) and have made a number of observations on what might be possible with this kit, based on my own preferences at least.
First, as mentioned by MARTEN75 above, the three schemes that are evident are VF-51 CAG, VF-161 CAG (but minus the coloured stripes on the tail that appear on the N) and VF-111 but the non-CAG bird from what I can barely make out in respect to the image and numbering (but could obviously be wrong). If either is the case, it would barely warrant the description of a 'disappointment' since the latter is easily rectified by slicing out the fifth ray band on the 'tail' decal and replacing with the rainbow version from the Academy kit, assuming there is sufficient alignment. Or, if the overall size and fit is right, just swap for the Academy decals (or AM) in their entirety. Similar with the VF-161, though with the need to make modifications to turn it into an 'N' which I 'hope' my copious spares box would allow for. Either way, they have provided for three of the most colourful birds they could have done for this kit so hats off to Tamiya.
Second, I like 'optionality' for my kits these days - the ability to change the configuration and remove/add parts as needed - wheels up/down, breaks open/closed, wings up/down, etc. - both to let me change the way it is displayed to suit my mood (and display space) and even more importantly, to help stop breakages and loss during one of my frequent moves. After trial and error (...and error... and error...) I eventually got the 'detachable weapons' issue sorted for my kits through careful use of tiny neodymium magnets, and developed an approach to manage undercarriage and landing gear which should translate to this kit. But the engineering of this kit offers some interesting alternatives in respect to the wing-fold, flaps and refueling probe. For other kits, I handled the first by trying to replicate, with small and quite fragile 3D parts, the wing folding mechanism. It works but can be quite delicate depending on how its done. In this case it seems that careful removal of the 'stubs' and the embedding of magnets into main upper wing parts and then embedding opposing magnets into the corresponding point on parts C 17-19 might allow 'hot-swapping' between up and down configurations and in a way that wouldn't result in damage if jolted. It just requires care in where you store the different parts. Similar for the flaps - removing the stubs on parts A 6-9 and again using magnets against their opposite number within the right parts in what 'appear' to make up almost flap 'sleeves'? Not sure it's any more practical than simply moveable flaps but its different. Then there's the refueling probe. For my current Academy F-4J build to address the optionality I went as far as fabricating an extending probe that can fold back into the fuselage but it has been a nightmare that I would not want to repeat. With this kit I think just having a magnet on the door that corresponds to the enclosure and the boom and one connecting the boom to the enclosure will allow for hot-swapping between configurations. Lastly is the canopy. Although it doesn't offer actual movable 'hinges', parts C 17 and 19 in particular might provide for some interesting 'possibilities' to allow for open/closed on demand, while a detachable ladder seems to be a doozey.
Other nice features for me are the spine area that provides for a much easier and cleaner approach to reusing one of my Black Dog sets if I so desire, and the multi-part approach to the engine nozzles which makes it a lot easier (for me at least) to really get to the insides for detailing. And if someone went as far as producing an AM AN/APQ-72 then that could really light things up for me. As others have already mentioned, a decent bomb load would have been welcome but I have so many donor parts in the stash that doesn't present much of a problem.
I've never had a VF-161 bird before but really like the look while VF-111 and VF-51 have been favourites since I was a kid. 2021 was meant to be the year of 'not' buying any more kits but given what I'm getting I think I can justify my purchases on the basis that I am simply swapping out better kits for lesser kits (my opinion of course) of the same so not 'really...' increasing the stash. As such I'm afraid I'm going to have to go for 'three' of these now.

From what I've seen so far I don't regret preordering two of these kits!

The kit decal options are very nice, but I'm hoping to find some other schemes. The tail fin cap variations may be addressed by Quickboost in the same manner that they make different chin pods and gun vents for Tamiya's F-14A.
Come on Tamiya! Wake up and make more than one version of the Phantom!
I'm hoping they do VF-111 CAG as well as Vf-51. That'll be the two most colourful schemes.

Su-30MKK Family Interior 3D Decal (QD48047 for Hobby Boss Kits) 1:48
in Aftermarket (updates/conversions)

I keep looking at the Quinta sets and think that it might be interesting if they could ever print a cockpit that that had a 'transparency' in place of the main panel colour. The idea being that it might give the user the option to simply cut out and use the main features - dials, buttons, switches, leavers, etc. - over their own painted cockpit, which might provide for a less layered look than the 3D process can currently achieve and therefore provide for greater fidelity?
