Hi Folks,
While cracking on with my F.2 prototype I've been thinking about starting my Hobbyboss F.3. I'd like to display it as one of the early F.3's from 229 OCU but can't find any such decals in 1/48 and was wondering if anyone knew who might make these? Any help much appreciated!

Hi Folks!
Does anyone know if there is an AMS source for Type 45 decals? I have the Trumpeter version of the model but it didn't come with particularly helpful decals. I was hoping to make the build as HMS Dragon, complete with the Dragon emblazoned on the bow but have run into a brick wall seeking out decals to cover this. Any thoughts, advice, suggestions, all welcome. Cheers for now!

Hey, nice job! I have a lot of fond memories of Airfix's 1/144 707 from waaaayyy back. I have a 1/72 scale version in the stash which I'm keen to build as a BA 707 if I can ever find/make the decals.

Thanks Mike,
Yea, tried contacting them but no reply, but managed to get an order in for the first volume at emodels. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Diego Quijano's builds have been inspirational so getting the chance to try out the techniques first hand will be great.

Hi Folks!
I have the Revell 1/32 Jet Ranger model in the stash but never liked the shallow landing skids that came with the kit and would prefer to replace them with the taller skids available on some models or, even better, the floats seen on some of the rescue choppers. Question is: does anyone know if such options exist as AMS? If they don't I will look to create my own as 3D prints but the AMS route would be easier (and more likely to be of better quality than I can produce) so I would prefer to start there. Cheers for now!!

Just tried to order both. Received a transaction error

Ooooo... if they were doing 'both' a GR 1 and 3 that would be awesome since they're two of the three other models in my planned Harrier line up that I want to add next (the other being the P117). I might drop Kinetic a note to see if they have any such plans. I mean, not doing them would be such a waste given all the effort they've put in on the SHAR toolings

Another later F.2 prototype fit

John
Hi John
These and the ones on your post above are fantastic! Thank you so much!! I'm now trying to think around the best way of doing the cockpit. I'm going for the earliest of the prototypes (ZA-254). I had thought about using a modified set of Eduard PE but I'm struggling to find any that have the layout that I could work with. F3 and ADV seem (to my eyes at least) to be off the mark in terms of where the controls are, especially on the side panels. The stock cockpit for the Italeri kit doesn't appear to be much help either so what I'm thinking now is whether I can file down the main parts of the cockpit and create some of my own decals to represent the panels that might have been present. I'm stuck at home with the lurgy today so will take the opportunity to break out the pencils and try a few drafts. Many thanks for the help with this, its very much appreciated!

Hi Folks!
I've been trying to track down pictures of the cockpit from the F.2 prototype to help guide my build but I've found it impossible to find anything reliable and even the 'Google' can't seem to help. I had wondered whether it was a significant departure on the cockpit for the GR.1 and whether some AMS for the latter could be used as a suitable base, such as the cockpit PE or even the Czech Masters resin? Any thoughts, suggestions would be most appreciated. Cheers for now!
-
hi,
simple - there is non in resin
but i think the Eduard PE sets are quite good!
take care if it is for the ADV or the F3, Eduard provides different layouts!
I used the PE set made for the Hobbyboss kit on the Airfix one, and the much older / none colour on the Italeri kit

resin seats are a must I think , Aires ones look good to me! Alternatively Neomega resin.

here a WIP of my Airfix one:
Thanks Exdraken, I now have the PE for the ADV

Hi Folks!
I think I've seen a resin cockpit set for a 1/48 Tornado IDS but not for an ADV. I've tried the usual places - Pavla, Aires, Kits for Cash, Neomega, but no luck. Just wondering if anyone know's of any other source that produces decent cockpits for the ADV? Any thoughts, advice, hints would be welcome. Cheers for now.

Great stuff folks! Brilliant reference material. Now that I see it is possible I think I'll snag a GR3 kit to use as a template. Hope you manage to get yours finished Bill, it looks cracking!
Cheers for now! -
Superb!! Make's me want to get cracking with my own Mossie kit!

Superb! I'd love to do a sail based ship but feel intimidated by the rigging
I think the seas scape is fantastic, hoping to learn to do something similiar for my ship kits - when I get round to making them
. Cheers for now! -

I'm looking to bag a couple of these! I'm going to upscale some of the 3D and PE parts I designed for my 12" Eagles to enhance the CM's and the interior of the Pods and Walkways! Still wish R2 would release these in 1/72 though

Hi Folks!
Having just picked up a couple of the new 1/48 Kinetic SHAR 1's I was wondering whether it would be feasible to convert one to a GR3? In terms of the 'major' surgery, is it just a case of chopping and swapping the front ends or are there significant differences in the rest of the design that would need to be considered? All thoughts and advice would be welcome! Cheers for now!

Thanks both! I've sent him a message and will see what comes back. Cheers for now!

I did my own artwork for this in 1/72 about 10 years ago and have re-scaled it to 1/48 for you - Link to my Dropbox
Hope this helps.

That's fantastic!! Thanks so much! Really appreciated!

Drop Ray an e-mail or a PM - I'm sure he will be able to scale them up to 1/72 for you even though they're not listed.
FDecal also do rescales, try contacting Philippe: http://www.f-dcal.fr/decals/index.php?id_cms=11&controller=cms&id_lang=1. Landor 737s were covered by them: http://www.f-dcal.fr/decals/index.php?id_product=427&controller=product&id_lang=1
They don't have a Negus & Negus 707 but they did a retro 757 which could be a starting point as the fuselage is a similar size.

Thanks Jonathan! I tried Ray but he can't rescale since the originals are silk screened. I think Philippe's are also silk screened so may be out of luck there also. Cheers anyway!

Here are a couple links as they result from consulting the Tornado SIG forum,F.2 Prototype Decals topic:
http://s702.photobucket.com/user/peebeep/media/Tornado/F2.jpg.html
http://s702.photobucket.com/user/peebeep/media/Tornado/logo.jpg.html
http://s702.photobucket.com/user/peebeep/media/Tornado/test.jpg.html
http://s702.photobucket.com/user/peebeep/media/Tornado/panavia.jpg.html
Maybe they can be of help in case you still cannot get hold of 'peebeep' or even find some other ready made decals.
Cheers,
P.S.: there is Xtradecal sheet 48003 that contains markings for F.2 ZD935 and that can still be found for purchase on-line, although I'm not sure that you're after this particular airframe's markings!?
Thanks niki!
I'll try the JPEG on some clear decal paper and see how it comes out. Can't find the Xtradecal set so hopefully these will work. Cheers for now!

Hi Folks!
I've been hoping to build my 1/48 Italeri Tornado ADV as a prototype F.2 but I've been struggling to find decals to allow me to do this. I saw on another forum that someone had created a template to allow people to print their own but I have had no joy in being able to get in contact to see if these would still be available. If anyone has any ideas on how to find such decals or even the artwork to create my own or paint masks their help would be most appreciated. Cheers for now!

Best 1/48 Challenger 1/2 kits?

Hi folks, I'm looking to do a 1/48 Challenger 1 or 2 kit and would welcome views and experiences of what you have found to be the best kits and the ones to avoid. Many thanks!
