Hey Madhatter, that looks awesome! The paint scheme and detail are immaculate. If I can get my kits to look half as good I would be chuffed to bits. Good luck with the VC-10. I have a vacuform version which I am looking to build as a British Airways build! -
I remember when they ran the competition for the carrier names and amongst the entries were HMS Millennium Falcon and HMS Galaxy Blaster Then they announced the chosen names QE and POW around the same time as a commemorative edition of the Times from the time of Trafalgar was issued which listed ships like: Agamemnon, Mars, Victory, Conqueror, Revenge! Which felt like 'proper' warship names!

Even when I've only bought a kit for some spare parts or specific decals I find I can't bare to simply throw the rest of the kit away, even when it is old and lacking the fidelity of modern kits. This is the case with an old 1/48 Hasegawa F-4B and a 1/48 Airfix Tornado F.3, both of which were bought for their decals. The F-4 is one of Hasegawa's early releases, complete with raised detail while the Airfix is the original release and a far cry from even the Hobbyboss tooling. I can think of something to do with the Tornado, with it being decked out as a 43 Sqn Black ADV after a healthy dose of re-scribing. I'm a bit stuck with the Phantom though. I have modern kits for all the major US and UK versions I am interested in save for a 1435 Flt FGR.2. But I can't see a realistic way of modifying the kit to make a realistic FGR.2. If anyone has any thoughts on what I might reasonably do with the kit they would be most welcome. Cheers Nocool

Any chance of more Airfix new tooled Lancasters?

Oh for a new tool 1/48 -
Ok, I’m struggling with this. I’ve looked at both sets for the JJ Prise, I can see ‘similarities’, both in the choice of the parts and in some general shapes but that’s about it. I can see no direct copy of the fret, no like for like. The differences, especially in detail, may be subtle in places but they are still different. So is it rather an issue of the ‘idea’ being copied, the choice of parts to develop and the general approach, rather than exact like for like? I’m really keen to understand.

I'd rather have the correct parts than fiddle with etch at that size to be honest. I paid for the correct kit and that's what they should provide.

Just opened my kit to find the same issue with the fuselage halves. Not a happy bunny. Have contacted Heller

Looks great and it's helping give me the confidence to start rescribing some of my older kits.

I'm still holding out for some more 1/48 kits. Probably futile I know, but I can dream -
I bought the 5.3L version but I am struggling to get it to work as hoped. It's all connected up right and dispenses air but it doesn't ever seem to fill up to the extent that it shuts the compressor off. Either my compressor simply can't push enough air into the thing or I'm doing something wrong

Do you mind if I borrow your talent? I promise to give it back

Ok, that's weird! After all that, just got a knock on the door from my neighbour bearing... that's right, a shiny new Heller 707. Annoyed at lack of communication but VERY Happy with the new arrival!
-
Seems that my order is all over the place. Their website came back up with new graphics but the 707 no longer has a "buy" option. My order is still listed as "In preparation" after a week. I've now asked to cancel the order as I'm moving house shortly and don't want the faff of getting it sent on - if it ever gets sent at all!

Superb model! I have a 48 version in the stash and could only hope to make it as good as this. -

Great stuff! Always enjoy seeing F-14's! -
Bought this kit from the Heller website a few days ago. Emailed them to ask when it might be shipped. Received an email daemon error suggesting that the mailbox didn't exist. Tried their website to find that it was unavailable and still is Looks like I'll have to make a call on PayPal

The designs in that set look remarkably similar to the designs I created for my custom 12" Eagles here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234977510-my-custom-built-12-eagles/

Hi folks, I'm looking to do a 1/48 Challenger 1 or 2 kit and would welcome views and experiences of what you have found to be the best kits and the ones to avoid. Many thanks!
