Convert 1/48 Kinetic Harrier FRS.1 to GR.3
Nocoolname replied to bedford's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Hi, I've been looking to do the same. Here's a really good thread on converting the FA.2 to a GR.3: -
Plastic fantastic re releases.

I wish I'd been able to get hold of one of those, I've still got the DVD's of the series. A 1/48 SMT version would be even better. -
I got a set of these a while back for the aztec effect on a Star Trek kit but I've not had the chance to use them yet. They're a bit smelly, being lacquer based I believe. https://www.specialistpaints.com/collections/inspire-airbrush/products/airbrush-pearl

Sorted! Evidently one of those 'too obvious' to be plausible issues.

Might sound like a daft question but does anyone know a good way of thinning Aqua Gloss? I know it's meant to be ready to spray straight from the bottle but I struggle to do so with anything other than my Badger 250. This includes trying a range of different pressures and even switching up to a .5 needle. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

New Alclad II MIL-SPEC Airbrush Ready Enamel Paints
Nocoolname replied to Navy Bird's topic in Paint
I have been trying these recently and have found them to be excellent. These days I much prefer to get straight to the building and painting and skip the faffing that may be involved with preparing mixtures. I had been using Revell Aqua Color but no matter how scientific the mix ratios the results were always a bit hit and miss while the ratio of painting time to preparation, cleaning and recovery was always 30/70. I also tried Vallejo Model Air but have been struggling with them a little, possibly because they're a little thick straight from the bottle. Although I was reluctant to return to enamel due to the fumes I had always had good results with this type of paint and found them far more durable than acrylic. I had recently tried the AK Xtreme Metals and found them to be excellent straight out of the bottle with relatively easy clean up afterwards. So I picked up a set of Mil Spec to see if I would have a similar experience. I have. They spray brilliantly straight from the bottle, require little attention while sat in the airbrush save for the occasional swab around the tip with an IPA soacked cotton bud, while the laydown and coverage is clean and even. Drying time is not as fast as with acrylic but far faster than with my home-mixed enamels of yesteryear. I've so far used one of the greys, the black, the white and a mixture of the latter and the results have all been the same. Cleanup is a relatively quick affair with a blast of thinner (my AK Xtreme Thinner works fine for these) and a wipe down of the cup and nozzle with a piece of paper towel soaked in the same. The only downside for me is the fumes but then I have my spray booth, mask and glasses for those. If I could find the same colours as my current acrylics these would become my paint of choice for airbrushing. -

Gave up on the Moebius kit and am also looking into the Bad Azz version. The Moebius version is the "Duke Nukem Forver" of Sci-Fi kits. -

Fantastic!!! -
Hi Chris You can also get a LED lighting set for the 1/700 Academy kit if you want to make it really stand out. In terms of size there's a compromise on the 1/400 kit with Revell's old 1/570 kit. I was given one of those as a birthday present when I was 8 and it is what really got me into making models. Whichever way you go, enjoy!

Great stuff! I took a similar approach on the undercarriage with my F.2 build before picking up my liquid chrome pen. -

Revell Paint Remover.
-
I just use Revell Paint Remover. Does what it says on the t... erm... bottle. Stinks to high heaven but really works, and pretty fast to boot. Had to use some the other week after a masking disaster. It stripped away acrylic, enamel and Halfords Filler Primer back down to the plastic with no harm done.
-
Got one of these a short while back. It's excellent!
-
Thanks Both! Legally its all a bit tricky because its web based, but I'm just going to return the part for a refund.

Hi Folks! Does anyone know if there's a contact email address for Zoukei Mura direct? I ordered the F-4J PE set via their Volks shop and the quality was below par compared to what I've bought before. The print registry appeared to be off on the overlay resulting in a dark red 'bleed' around the edges and a slight 'fuzzing'. I contacted Volks with pictures and they said they couldn't see a problem and besides they were made for them by Eduard so if I had a problem I should take it up with Eduard. I was pretty stunned by this response. Especially since I have purchased 40+ PE sets made by Eduard which have been excellent. As such I wanted to drop ZM a note, expressing my dissapointment. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Cheers folks! I wanted to avoid scratch building after my experience with the Eagle Transporter which went waaaayyy OTT. I was seriously considering the gaso-line kits but then accidentally stumbled upon Mike's review of the 1/35 Meng kit of the MK V Male and just had to have it.

Hi Sean, what primer did you use?
-
LOL! That kit is awsome

Hi Folks! Does anyone know if there's a 1/48 version of any of the British tanks (MK I - V) available? I've seen the 1/35 (a little to big) and the 1/76 (my eye's would struggle) but not a 1/48. Any help most appreciated.
