The other point of interest is that the FM and PG kits represent two different versions of the Falcon. The FM kit is of the Empire Strikes Back version, with the five sets of landing gear, while the PG kit is of A New Hope, with the three landing gear.

LOL! That's my new policy - 1 in for 1 out and avoid multiples to try and stop me from being buried in kit boxes. I think the worst thing is that the PG Falcon is likely to end up gathering dust with the rest of my stash until my retirement given my build rate. In fact I'll probably find that just as I'm gearing up to build it someone will probably announce an even better one in 1/48 or something causing me to do another swapsies.

Here's a shot of the box contents. I also tried to take a shot of some of the detail but my camera just won't go for it so I've added a link to a page which has some good pictures of the detail to help give an idea. To be honest though even these don't do it justice. It really is ont of those that you have to take a look at up close to really believe. https://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=279210&page=8

It was expensive but only marginally more than I had to pay for the FM Falcon plus accessories when it was re-released a few years back and this kit includes its own PE and LED lighting kit. I'll try and upload some images of the parts though I'm struggling to get my camera phone to do them any justice. The detail on the parts is absolute bonkers. It is off the charts. It's resin quality and my camera is struggling to capture the sharpness. It beats the FM Falcon hands down and is a larger kit too in much the same way that the other Ban Dai 1/72 Star Wars kits were noticeably larger than their FM counterparts. I think I'll have to study necromancy in order to ressurect Da Vinci in order to any justice to this kit when it comes to the paint.

This... Although the 'postie' didn't exactly deliver it. ParcyMcParcelFarce dropped off one parcel but left this one in the van causing me a 45 mile round trip to collect it...

Watching this with great interest. I've just managed to get the kit from that well known auction place and will be looking to light it. -
Great news! Still no word from the retailers though.

I was just about to ask if anyone had heard anything. Hopefully won't be long before we see some pictures of the kit.

The last time I bought modelling paint was in 1987
Nocoolname replied to neilfergylee's topic in Paint
I returned to model making a few years back after a 25 year gap. When I ducked out of the hobby I had been using enamel from the tin, thinned with (very smelly) thinners and either painted or sprayed through a Badger 200 (using an air can). On returning to the hobby I tried acrylics, first Tamiya then Revell Aqua Colour. Although nice colours I found Tamiya to be 'almost' as much hassle as the old enamels in terms of smell and having to use their thinners. I found the Revell Aqua Colour to be far more user friendly - thin with water and no terrible odour. But they were a "pain in the airbrush", resulting in a maintenence-to-painting ratio of about 4:1. I then 'rediscovered' enamels, first in the form of Xtreme Metal and then in the form of Alclad Mil-Spec and I haven't looked back since. They stink just like enamels used to but unlike the impoverished teen in the late 80's I now have a spray booth and hurricane mask. They also spray pretty much flawlessly right out of the bottle through each of my airbrushes providing a level of coverage and consistency I could never get from the acrylics (even the so-called airbrush ready acrylics). Airbrush maintenence is a doddle. Zap a bit of odourless thinner and the brush is fine. -
My starting wishlist would be: 1/72 VC-10 British Airways Negus and Negus 1/72 Trident 3 BEA 1/72 Viscount British Airways Negus and Negus or BMA 1/72 Boeing 737 British Airways 'Landor' 1/48 F-16 Agressor Splinter Scheme 1/48 F-16 Thunderbirds 1/48 Phantom FGR.2 1435 Flight 'Falklands' 1/48 Tornado ADV F.2 229 OCU 1/48 UH-1D Play Boy or 'Air Cav' 1/48 Bell Jet Ranger BEA 1/48 Apache British Army 1/32 Bell Jet Ranger BEA I occasionally see some on my wishlist at a different scale, such as the airliner decals, but they are often screen rather than laser printed so don't lend themselves to simple upscaling.

Have a set in the stash but not actually tried them yet though I have inspected the parts and instructions. They don't look that complicated, with the main piece of surgery being to remove a slight section of the main wing which will be replaced by a hinged section ready for the wing tip. I'm hoping to drill out small holes in the hinges and use micro brass bolts so that I can have the wings up/down as I please.

Still waiting for this. Wish they'd get a peddle on.

Air France Concorde, Heller 1:72
Nocoolname replied to neilg's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I'd love to have two versions - a BA and an AF one - but simply no space unfortunately. As for the windows, hadn't really thought about it to be honest. I'll add it to my 'scratching my head list'. -

That's an absolute beauty! I've got one of these in the stash that I was going to built lighted and this has helped to spur me into action. My main conundrum is whether to build as a BA Negus and Negus or Landor and whether to build wheels up or wheels down or try and find a way of having removable gear so I can alternate. Choices choices... -
New 22" Round 2/MPC Cargo Eagle Transporter
Nocoolname replied to Kallisti's topic in Work In Progress - SF & RealSpace
I enjoyed it as a kid. Bought the Blue Ray when it was released and then enjoyed cringing at some of the acting/dialogue/costumes etc. Never dampened my enthusiasm for the models, have loved the Eagle design ever since, to the extent that instead of trying to accurize the Airfix kit I chose to design, print and etch new parts to build a '72nd' scale ship. Insodoing I found all of the design flaws associated with the original concept but that didn't dapen my enthusiasm. Can't wait to get my version of the above kit. Only wish they would they would drop the scale a bit so I could fit more on the shelf -
I didn't even realise this had been released?! Just ordered one. Annoyingly it'll probably take 3 days to ship from the US to the UK then spend 12 days in Pass-the-ParcelFarce land
