My three 1/48 cockpit sets (Mi-24V Hind, Mig-29 (9-12) and Mig-29 SMT) from Quinta Studios arrived out of the blue after around a month and a half. They are beyond amazing. I'm really looking forward to their F-15 and F/A-18 sets.

Talk about an arm and a leg...

The second and last pictures from the reel at the bottom are what my existing Mk.1 builds resemble. Hopefully I'll do a better job with the Eduard version.

Looks like it'll be a fully loaded Spitfire August for me. Probably two of the Spec Ed kits plus all of the goodies. Thank god I discovered I have a loft.

That build looks terrifying! And amazing! It's terrimazing! I took one look at Anigrand's much smaller 1/72 KC-10/DC-10 and ran away. So I'm in awe with what you've done here! -
Depending on what kind and how much paint I want to mix and whether I wish to keep any for future use I use a range of containers, from empty glass 20cc bottles (pack of ten cost me around £15) to those tiny 3ml resealable plastic containers (usually found starter kits with acrylic inside - I picked up 150 for around £13) and now paint mixing pallets having just rediscovered four of them in my boxes. The size of the above is usually about right for my needs and helps me to avoid wasting paint. Those shot glasses mentioned above sound like a bargain!

Less an acquisition than a 're-acquisition'. After struggling to get my mind focussed on anything let alone modelling I decided on a clear out of the boxes I'd hauled around 5 homes over 7 years since I had no idea what I even had in them only that they were taking up cupboard space. There was me only a short while ago bemoaning my dwindling supplies and then I discovered the following: Complete set of Alclad metals unused Complete set of Tamiya acrylics unused Complete set of Revell Aqua Colour with only a few used 3 x unopened bottles of Aqua Colour Mixer Complete set of Inspiration Pearlescent airbrush colours unused Two unused bottles of Micro Set Two unused bottles of Micro Sol Unopened large bottle of Alclad Grey Primer Unopened large bottle of Alclad Black Base Unopened large bottle of Alclad Klear Kote Gloss Unopened large bottle of Alclad Klear Kote Flat Unopened large bottle of Alclad Airbrush Cleaner Unopened large bottle of Alclad Aqua Gloss Unopened large bottle of Ultimate Thinners (still in bag) Unopened large bottle of Ultimate Cleaner (still in the bag) Unopened large bottle of black Ultimate Primer Unopened large bottle of Vallejo airbrush cleaner Unopened bottle of Humbrol Clear coat Unopened set of Pearl Ex Pigments 3 x airbrush hoses 1 spare airbrush cleaning station 4 x plastic paint mixing pallets Unopened small bottle of anti-bacterial hand sanitiser, and Howling Wolf Productions Shadow Battle Crab from Babylon 5. This is a beautiful kit that has all of the 'vein' detail that is missing on the much rougher Warp kit. That said, given the current climate, I think the bottle of hand sanitiser is probably rarer.

They're brilliant. I bought the set a few years back after having trouble cutting curves but these have been fantastic for so much more. Recommended from me too.

I think a lot of couriers have gone to the dogs over recent years as they chase every scrap of profit. There's already been a number of takeovers/buyouts which I think is making matters worse. I can't even recall whether TNT owns FedEx or the other way round or maybe its one of the others that owns each, who knows. All I know is that Hermes has been completely hit and miss (mostly miss), FedEx delivered my parcel to a tractor plant 3 miles away and claimed it had been signed by the author Dan Brown, while Yodel… I'd sooner trust my parcel to the local cat. Royal Mail on the other hand have been fantastic and even Amazon have been on the up and up.

Hi Nathan I have the Neo and have used it on a range of paints though not the specific brands you mention. If available for those types try a dedicated thinner or if you can get it perhaps try Ultimate Thinners. It comes with a really handy mixing guide which includes Testors Acrylics and helps you get the best ratio of paint to thinner in a way that takes out some of the guesswork. I'd use that as a starting point then work 'thicker' or 'thinner' with a bit more paint/thinner depending on how the initial ratio works. I use enamels in the form of pre-mixed brands such as Alclad Mil-Spec and AK Xtreme Metals. They're excellent for me but can be quite potent compared to acrylics and I had to invest in an extractor paint booth, face and eye mask combo to tolerate them. Good luck.

I think the whole thing has been a bust for some weeks now with a certain Mr C's actions putting a nail in the coffin of support. I've watched adult neighbours have their folks around, doing the 2m waltz between each other while having their kids mix it up like there was no such thing and CV-19. It's been a dreadful experience all around and for what? My friends and family on the front line to see pictures of the above and people being 'selective' with their interpretation. Like many others I've not just been cut off from family and friends. I've also been cut off from specific support I need for the past three months, and this continues to be the case, while many who never depended on such in the first place but who still have stable jobs and income have bemoaned the imposition of an enforced holiday on themselves and their kids, while those without have had to accommodate their neighbourhood creche. Recently I thought I was just the stand-alone neighbourhood grump until my response to a 'are our kids screaming for twelve hours a day disturbing you?' text with a simple 'yes' triggered a range in individual responses from others in the area clearly at the end of their own coping with others' failing to be considerate strategies. Nuff said. Really difficult week for me MH wise. The worst I've ever had. Needed GP intervention. Thank god my Group Build doesn't end until September.

I did just that, a couple of weeks before everything kicked off. Not from choice, but because of the state of my old car. Not only did it not pass its MOT the garage said they couldn't even carry it out, things were so bad. They gave me a full refund. So I traded in for a brand new 2020 model that is like the Starship Enterprise compared to what I used to have. But since Feb its done a grand total of around 200 miles and this has consisted of supermarket and prescription trips only. It's now mostly under a cover to protect its from 'bird strikes'.

Doesn't make sense. The seller shouldn't be able to retrospectively change the original listing which is what your 'email receipt' should refer to and what eBay should be refunding regardless of what the seller suggests. Ultimately its eBay that it liable and they are responsible for resolving as per what your purchase email described.

As above but mostly because of compatibility issues. Check the speed and build of the RAM first and if the same it may be worth trying at least, otherwise RAM in manufacturer's and specification pairs is the best way to go and just ditch the 4GB part.

Another vote for AK's XM. My use of these changed my entire approach to airbrushing. I'd tried with various acrylics - Tamiya, then Revell, then Vallejo, Mig, etc., with specialised thinners, flow improver, everything but struggled. AK XM shot straight from the bottle with perfect coverage. Their Black Base is so good I tend to use it just for black rather than as a primer for XM. I've since bought the entire XM range along with switching other colours to pre-thinned enamel (Mil-Spec). They stink a bit but they work and they still stink less than my Alclad liquors.
-
Not sure. To be honest I wasn't planning on using it anywhere near laquer. The 'hottest' I would consider are Alclad's pre-thinned enamels - the Mil-Spec range. Other than that, acrylics and artists ink. I've avoided using my Alclad laquers thanks mostly to the Xtreme Metal range from AK. Though I have used AK's primer which from the smell feels very close to lacquer and maybe why I started having problems with my Neo - the rubber rings started to go. I'm due to shoot Mil-Spec through my Evo in a couple of days and that now has a 0.15 needle so it should give an idea towards what a fine needle can tolerate.

Great looking Tonka you’ve made there! I’m working on my own in 48 and hope it comes out half as well

So while waiting for my latest 'necessaries' to arrive from the Big H I've been a little 'naughty'... Picked up this to be my general workhorse. I'd heard decent things about the Sparmax and since my old and troublesome Aztec 470 and Paasche clones had gone kaput and I was struggling to get my Neo to behave I decided on this and picked it up on Amazon. So far its been consistently reliable for both priming and general spraying with my enamels with very little maintenance needed. But the real treat has been this and HUGE shoutout to Martin at Air-Craft.net for getting it to me faster than any order I received 'pre-lockdown' so how this was achieved during is beyond me. Placed my order yesterday, then realised that I'd forgotten to order the spare needle as I had intended and asked if I could pay separately but have it included in the postage to which Martin agreed. But given when I placed my order let alone paid the invoice for the additional part I hadn't even expected the package to be 'dispatched' until next week under the best of circumstances. So it was to my shock and delighted surprise that the postie brought this to me a short while ago today. Now 'that's what I call service. This is not just for model making, since I have taken up fine art again and I wanted something really precise for using inks (my next project is a large picture of a Blue Carpenter Bee) and delivering the finest detail. I seriously thought about the Mr Airbrush Custom 0.18 (PS-770) after Mike's review but having seen some comparison videos and the 'straight off the bat' smoothness of the CM at much lower pressures it had to be this. I'm having quite a tough day today but going to try and have a play anyways

Erm… Anyway, I think my latest acquisition, before my latest purchases land, might be a top knot die to the effect of the lockdown on my hair. Unless anyone can recommend a decent set of trimmers from Amazon so long as they don't make me look too frightening

Mr Hobby Mr Airbrush Custom 0.18 (PS-770)
Nocoolname replied to Mike's topic in Tools & Paint Reviews
Very nearly went for this as my 'go to' detail brush but went for the Iwata CM instead after watching video comparisons. While both are amazing the CM appeared to be a lot smoother straight off the bat and at lower PSI than the PB. So I figured it might be worth the investment but the PB would definitely be the runner up and may still be on the list for the future. -
Erm….

Hey... so do I. But sometimes... you know... you just have to. Besides, I got landed with a massive (1/200) Titanic and detail set because I said at the time of my birthday that I was bored. Can't make the 'Queen of the Seas' look ugly now with a sloppy paint job can I? [...retreats to darkened corner hoping his terrible excuse might work...]
